    I've been living in a van full time for over 10 years and the pain is real lol. Seriously, there are drawbacks but I still love it. I have lived in Wisconsin for the last 8 years and the winters are definitely challenging. Before that I lived in Las Vegas in my van and that was challenging in the summer.

    The other day I used Home Depot wifi in the parking lot and it was really good..... Of coarse I'm in Victorville CA but maybe a spot to try in Vegas or elsewhere....

      I’ll have to try Home Depot’s around here. I’ve tried other parking lots but never seem to get a good connection unless I go inside the business

    Wow, what a hidden gem of a channel. You seem like a really chill down to earth dude and as a fellow music producer (Under a different name) I find what you're doing extremely inspiring!
    I hope you get to blow up like you deserve to in popularity. You got a hell of an awesome origin story haha.

    I am originally from Pennsylvania, and I live in my pick-up truck part time, I stay with family when I am in their areas, I love traveling, but it does get weary after a while

      Nice to meet a fellow East-Coaster! Yup, definitely some rough spots, but I still love it!

    Here's a thought -- how about if you install a switch so you can activate/deactivate that specific outlet/connection instead of unplugging/plugging the fridge ?
    You could then easily turn it off/on anytime, day or night, especially if it were near the bed. Maybe? Anyway, good video and good luck!

      That’s a good idea! I actually have an on/off button on the power supply that the fridge is plugged into that only works those 3 outlets under the desk. The problem is my TV and speakers are plugged in there. If I know I’m not using the TV or speakers anymore that day, I’ll just hit the switch

      @@Johnnyinthevan LOL about the TV and speakers being on the same conection as the fridge - *totally* logival but a pain if you want to turn off only one of them - LOL!

    musty air and hot inside the van is my no1 issue....rolled down windows dont seem to do much at all! I guess i need to make a hole in the roof after all.

    I'm thinking of painting my van with Henry's tropicool. Wonder if that will keep it cooler.

    Lot of good points for those thinking about full time van life. Yeah man it's a big sacrifice giving up so much floor space especially when you have a lot of musical gear. If that frig is a small 110v you could save a ton of energy switching to a 12v like an Iceco. Anytime you go from 12v to 110/120v you lose a lot of stored power. I'm sure buy now you already know this. Good luck and new Sub.

      Glad you enjoyed the video! Yea the main reason I went with 120v was because it was significantly cheaper. I think if I build another one, I definitely would go with 12v

    I resolved some of the same challenges by adding a HighTop and upgrading to lithium batteries & 380 watts solar panels. Now I don’t hit my head and always have power. The space constraint are what they are. I’ve learned to better organize my stuff, travel with less and deal with the rest. 😜
    Good luck and thanks for sharing 👍🏼

      Thank you! Yea, I wanted a high top but it was more of a budget decision for me. Im only 5'8" so I'm dealing with the low top for now LOL. The budget also plays into the battery size. Would love to upgrade to lithium in the future!

    Why don't you swap the 110v fridge to a 12v fridge. Inverters really suck battery life quickly

    • @Johnnyinthevan
      @Johnnyinthevan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A definite possibility. I originally went with 110 for budget purposes. But I might switch it out and upgrade the battery system at some point

    You may want to re-locate, Summer is killer down here... maybe Seattle?

    • @Johnnyinthevan
      @Johnnyinthevan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A definite possibility of relocating! Seattle might be a little too far though. Gotta stay close to Vegas and California for DJ gigs

    Great information..was wondering if you pay 15 dollars for parking and stay in your van overnight will security bother you?

    • @Johnnyinthevan
      @Johnnyinthevan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I have not personally done that, but I know most of the hotels allow that if you pay for 24 hours. Its best to stay kinda stealthy (don't cook outside the van or set up chairs). Also I would recommend letting the security guard at the gate know. If there is one.

    Or buy more batteries brother.

    • @Johnnyinthevan
      @Johnnyinthevan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way the system is already designed, it would be a huge pain to try to upgrade with a bigger or second battery. very limited space and I would have to rip some of the build apart in order to fit anything else. But thanks for the suggestion!

    Why LV?

    • @Johnnyinthevan

      I am a DJ and Music Producer so I wanted to be close to Vegas and LA. I also want to travel the National Parks of The Western United States. So Vegas made sense to establish as Home Base.
