    Von Sydow was a great Jesus, and priest in the Exorcist because his voice has that unique
    " righteousness "that makes everything seem true and grave. But he is extremely Swedish ( whatever that means to you). He could be one of family- serious, one might say humorless. I can imagine him at the dinner table. Silent save the ticking of a grandfather clock.

    I remember when Max Von Sydow played Ming the Merciless in a modern adaptation of Flash Gordon. In the old serial with Buster Crabbe the role was played by Charles Middleton.

    The wonderful way he brings up THE STORY...not his ability so much....but THE STORY. I am sure this was instilled in him by his folklorist father!!!!
