Thanks for putting this up on TH-cam! I literally should have done this years ago (yes, I am still using this 10 year old laptop for some reason, pffft); somehow, I was never told (by the computer engineer parent that gave me it, no less) that I needed to clean the dust out. Had a suspicion there was something wrong when I *finally* realized that I couldn't even feel air coming through the vent even when the fan was on. There was ~5 years' worth of dust in there, completely covering the opening. My poor laptop. Since I'd never opened up a computer before I was very skittish about disconnecting the fan cable but this video helped a bit. Couldn't go to town on the fan like shown here because I didn't have a good tiny screwdriver for the tiny screws, but after putting everything else back together the difference is amazing! I can actually watch TH-cam videos without the computer lagging for 15-30 min after ~3 minutes of video!!! And the whole time I thought it was just the laptop getting old or I was running too many programs or something. Now it can finally breathe!

temp was at 68C.. removed and washed heatsink and fan.. apply new therma compound.. now temp is 30C .. with 10% cpu load..

Actually this serie has an issue, you can not control the fan by the bios. My DELL was still running too hot (GPU) after cleaning and renewing the cooling paste. I installed Speedfan and still the gpu was too hot. I have read that it is a heatsink / pipe issue. What I did is putting a copper 1 cent coin between the gpu chip and the pipe. Now the GPU is running about 50o C.
Tried cleaning the fan and placing new thermal paste but still it shutsdown due to overheating.

At 0:55 when you removed the wires I accidentally plugged put the dark white holder.. What should I do? It doesnt fit back and my fan isnt being detected

My brother tells me the reason me Dell E4310 randomly gets slow is because the fan might be dirty and filled with dust, I know this isn't the same laptop, but would it be easier to buy a new modern laptop? or just clean out the fan if it is the problem.
Your E4310 should be similar to be taken apart, so it's worth a try. A fan / heat sink can have a major impact on performance.

hey. have a problem idk if you still have this pc laptop but i have it. accidently dropped it and now it overheats. i am pretty young but have the tools to disassemble it. cpu temps go up to 90C. any help or idea on what i mightve done
Maybe the cooler is not touching the CPU as it should.
