The story behind the Regine and Katrina's Performance was that, Regine was originally invited as a guest in the concert but notified them that She can't make it, so Katrina literally knew that Regine will not be coming, but to her Surprise, Regine came and that is why Kat was in awe and tears of Joy❣️☺️
It's admirable how Regine supports and cheers on new, emerging singers (I believe Katrina was just starting to make a name here? Correct me if I'm wrong.)
This is why SOP ruled Sunday Noon time show in the 90's. You have Janno Gibbs, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velazquez, Lani Misalucha & Jaya. How can you beat that?
What you guys witnessed with Janno's singing is the mere remnants of his singing talent..He used to have arguably the best singing voice among our male artists..Very soulful and youthful..a very interesting combination..Whenever he was in the zone, he could make his listeners feel giddy and enthralled at the same time..He is so underrated..both as a sing and a composer..I am proud to say I am a fan of the King of Soul..Like I said, you just got to see a fraction of his talent..But his voice still quite has the qualities his fans loved back in the days..
Janno Gibbs!!!! About time! TYSM for this reaction! He's one of the best when it comes to harmonies that he tends to step back to let others shine. Please check out his own songs. He's the original singer of "Ipagpatawad mo", that won him a prestigious awards and the same song you reacted to sang by Nyoy Volante.
Jennylyn is an award winning actress, people tend to forget that she is a great singer as she haven't focused on that for a while and she doesn't do big concerts.
I love charice performance of I am telling you in South Korea when she was 14 on Star King when Super junior is the guest. She sung with super junior that time. It was unforgettable, it was really amazing.
Jennylyn Mercado is actually a great actress. She won 2 consecutive years for Best Actress in a filipino film festival can be a counterpart of "Oscar". Aside from that, she is a recording artist obviously cuz she can SAAAANG! ❤️ Janno Gibbs is a great friend of Ogie Alcasid. They are both actors that does comedy movies, but both have a great distribution in Filipino Music Industry sooo much.
He is my number 1 fave male artist, too..Love that guy..as a young kid, I patterned my singing style after his style..i really tried emulating him because I adored his voice and his style overall..
Did you see how Efra patted Waleska's head when she coughed? Like, OMG! It's such a small thing to do, but I love how they show care for each other all the time. And yes, I totally agree with tjeir respect for their parents (it's an actual thing we can observe in other videos too) ❤️ such a wholesome duo indeed
Jennylyn Mercado is more known as an actress than a singer. Trivia: She starred as the female lead in both Philippine adaptations of kdramas 'My Love from the Star' and 'Descendants of the Sun'. Janno Gibbs was also known as an actor comedian but I love his voice. I think his timbre is like that of Martin Nievera's. Perfect for a romantic balladeer. 😊 Thank you Walucha and Efra. Stay safe you guys. 💕
Thanks for reacting to Dulce's ( Dool-se) vocal power,,she is probably and arguably the best Filipina singer based on her achievements,,Regine Velasquez even idolizes her.
Just a suggestion, if u guys have the time itll be amazing if u can make playlists per country. It makes discovering music from specific parts of the world easier and older content more easily accessible. As always, much love 💖♥️ Ps. Belated happy birthday to Father Herrera 🎂
I really want to see Wale reacts more to Rachelle Ann Go since she’s also into theatre after doing mainstream in Ph. Maybe she and Efra can react to Rachelle and Sarah singing the Wicked song in Sarah’s concert.
@@Derenze11 she does for free. Even give them her clothes to others . Just thinking how can she support artists that are new and still struggling. Of course not to everybody because thats just impossible to do.
Please react to Regine's performance of "It Might Be You" on ASAP Natin To. She's wearing a pink grown. 😊 By the way, thank you for this podcast. God bless you both. 🙏
Regine surprising Katrina is probably one of the if not the best, surprise guest moment I've ever witnessed! Almost all of the audience were crying and couldn't believe what we saw. Regine is such a generous artist while Katrina deserves all the love and appreciation in the world. She will be more successful in the next coming years! 🙏❤️😍
In the beginning of Katrina's career, she was very scared to go commercial. She was just satisfied on performing on small scale stages like on live bars and restaurants. She was afraid to be big. She doesn't even wanted to do tv gigs. But people around her specially her management company headed by the wife of Gary V, Ms Angeli convinced her that she has what it takes to be a big shot. And that concert changed her life. And the rest is history.
Your session today is very good, and great collection of songs to feature today. These songs were very popular in Philippines. -Janno Gibbs is a good friend of Ogie Alcasid and Regine, they used to be in the same noon time show (called SOP) prior transferring to ASAP. -Dulce's name is pronounced as 'Dul-sehh' in Philippines. -Eric's song here (this is the moment) was his winning piece in the singing contest that launched his singing carreer.
Katrina was emotional already in that concert bcoz it's her concert.... From singing in a bar at night to having a concert, then "the Regine Velasquez" shows up? Singing with you... That's insane
Awesome reaction and admiration to the Filipino artists, equally awesome family.you sibs have a very tight and respectable family upbringing.love you guys, you have a very intelligent repertoire. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤣🤣
I really love your videos, And as a Filipino, I am happy because there are people like you who can appreciate the talent of our Filipinos, that's why I love you both♥️♥️
I really love the consistency of your reactions! Vale keeps explaining technicalities which sounds so easy to understand and alongside her, is Efra where uses very different analogies for those who are not familiar with singing but also enjoys listening to music.
Lastly, Regine Velasquez made And I am telling you popular in the Philippines, she sang it for the first time on the Asia Pacific Singing contest 1989 wherein she also sang You'll Never Walk alone. These songs became included in her "winning song pieces". You should watch Regine's version of this song on her "Most Requested Concert" which was staged on 2009. Thanks!!!!!
Jano Gibbs is also an actor, more of comedic acting but he can cry on camera.. his dad is among the best actors in the Industry and very handsome in his younger years... Jano's daughter can sing too. I was surprised when i heard her sang one time and i was like 😳...

If I'm not mistaken, Janno Gibbs is the Philippine's King of Soul, along with Jaya.
Janno Gibbs used to be in the same variety show (SOP) and in the same segment with Regine, Lani, Jaya and Ogie called Back-To-Back-To-Back.

As for belters that have a theatre- bent , here are my theories:
I think Filipinos are predisposed to storytelling. It is a must. They like stories and songs that tell stories well and to do that you must be able to convey emotions well too. So singers that do this well are popular. Singers like Frank Sinatra who has excellent phrasing, Barbra Streisand who has a theatre background are big in the Philippines and are well loved to this day I think.
And often singers go into acting as well, so that will bleed over.
Soundtracks are incredibly popular which naturally lean into the theatrical side.
“Theatrical” sometimes can have a negative slant, but I guess a more accurate view would be, that the singers in the Philippines are more emotional and more willing to show their emotions on their sleeves.
As for the discipline and different mindset of theatre folks, that is exemplified by Lea Salonga and as she became more popular and successful, I think it has influenced artists to go that route. Before her and during her early years, theatre was more a niche and likely more common for the upper class bec of the cost. So having that kind of formal training and rigorous discipline isn’t common.
