I'm not huge on awards. But hearing Toro say that he waited 25 years for that Golden Globe really makes me hope he gets best picture. This man is a genius and a legend when it comes to allowing people to see his vision.

It was great.
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). One of my favorite movies.
Del Toro said he was inspired by Creature from the Black Lagoon to make this film. He said he always wanted the creature to "get the girl in the end". He finally got to make that childhood fan fiction a reality.
I haven't seen the movie yet but I already LOVE it!

I wept when I saw this film. Twice. Could I quibble about the illustrator using a term for sex seeming inappropriate for the period? Yes. Did I think the cruelty in the film added to it's gravitas? No. Did I think it was fabulous? Yes. It's a bit of a miracle.

It must be only me but I didn't like the movie that much, it was ok but not to the point of saying its amazing. I don't know, maybe is the fact that I don't understand Del Toro's mind. He always creates such weird stories. I know they all have profound meanings about life and such but still, I don't know.

Also, as of now, it's made $52.4 million off of a $19 million budget. For a film that started off with a limited release, I'd say that's pretty damn impressive.
