Update!!! I recorded this video 7 months ago at the time I felt very miffed about this scope! But I’m eating humble pie and after long deliberation I’m buying one!
I have a ghost .22 with a arken 5-20 .I manly shoot at night and defo think the lrf and ballistic is a great help on a .22 as the loopy trajectoryis a pain .I have a wildcat in .177 with a pard 008lrf and I think the arken is better .I've shot rats at 10 y and rabbits at 50 y with arken and it's great . At night the .177 is more forgiving .but if you shoot at night with a .22 lrf and ballistic is a Massive help. I like your vids but I think your wrong saying lrf and ballistic is not needed. Anything that helps the kill shot is a bonus .
Thanks for watching if LRF & BC help you then fair enough I don’t feel the need with my set up I’m very confident and know my gun and scope with ammo inside out and very rarely miss especially at close range. Thanks for watching & engaging.
I understand your point. Surely though, these decisions are not made to offer less choice, but due to the market forces and costs in production lines and then having scopes that don't sell so well. Arken/DNT are clearly offering cutting edge tech at a bargain price. With all that in mind, it may just not be worth the hassel in making them without the lrf features. Also, I should think would be harder to sell on when the greatest newest thing comes out.
Also I think the shooting solution offered by the lrf model is a great way to learn your holdover aim points for your rifle and choice of ammo. It's not all about shooter superiority to the less experienced, but learning how to be a superior shooter.
Yes I get what your saying this is an old video I have since had a loan of one and I thought it was to complicated you need a science degree to set it up to your rifle, to many buttons and very complicated especially for a tech phobe! It had outstanding image quality but that’s it!
I can understand what you are saying about Lrf for rat shooting and it wouldn't surprise me if DNT took out an non LRF version for the 3-12. Personally I use the Zulus for shooting pigeons at night in 120m long sheds and also for rabbits at distances up to 50m at night so the Lrf is a huge benefit.
This is an old video mate since I filed this I’ve learned a lot about the benefits of lrf when your shooting at nigbt or in the field! When I filmed this I was a back garden plinker and now all my distances in my garden where I shoot very well with out the need for Lrf but believe me I’m educated now amd realise it’s a great thing. We’re all learning every day mate.
Are they not bringing a non lrf 3x12 out then? They have one in 5x20.. tbh the lrf is a great benefit to me shooting wabbits at night out 60yds when conditions permit..i hav 2 008p and an arken all have the lrf feature and i think theyre brilliant tbh..id rather make a clean kill than wound an animal because ive misjudged the range by 5 yards .
Hi I wouldn’t take a shot at 60yds mate I’d rather get closer especially sub 12, I mostly shoot in my garden approx 20/30yds so have never need lrf or bc that’s the point of my video I personally do not need these features and Arken are not offering the 3x12 with out them you have to have them! Thanks for watching & engaging dude.
@@Ratsinthereticles I can see your point at your ranges and I personally don't bother with the ballistic calculator on the arken and just learnt the holdovers and unders but out in fields the lrf is a godsend as determining ranges at night is difficult and not being precise can mean the difference between wounding or missing and a clean kill..
Exactly I do say in the video at close range up to 35 yds max this is my point the extra features are not needed for close range shooters who shoot rats that’s why the brought out the 3x12 but I just think they’ve not thought about the extra features being on the scope are actually not needed on 3x12, yes there needed on the 5x25 for fac air gunners and powder burners but not for close range sub 12. The current price is £599 for the 3x12 I’m sure if it didn’t have lrf & bc it would bring the price down by approx 20% less.
I am going full out ,i am waiting for the thermal plus night vision, like you ive been shooting 40 years, with air and power burners, but now only air rifles ,i will be getting the LRF for night shooting, with my eyesight and judging distances at night are a pain ,so with the touch of a button i will be on target, yes lazy shooting but i want headshots ,took the Vixen out to zero it ,could only do 30 yards at the moment but m8 i was so shocked on the trigger and pellet on pellet at 30 yards out of the box ,even my dad at 85 had a go and he shakes like mad and he had a 20m group of a wobbling table lol , ive stick tape on the turret and marked out different yardage, from 23 yards to 30 yards theres no change in POI well chuffed with the .177 😊😊 just need to get out and try it on the wabbits. Hopefully, after half turm
Happy days fella yes that scope looks amazing dosent it will be expensive that mate, good on your dad for having a go as well bless him great age! Glad your enjoying your vixen trust me mate it gets better the more you use it.
I think a lrf helps . It's hard to judge distance at night on my old nitesite .I've gone places in daylight and ranged out distances for the nights shooting . I only have a pocket daylight range finder . I wouldn't get another ir night scope , thermals the future.
I only shoot at short distance have no need for LRF and I know my guns and what there capable of and that’s a great help knowing your guns I can’t justify ever owning a scope with BV & LRF I really thought Arken would have thought of this like pard did! As for thermal it’s a great concept to find your quarry but shooting I like to see the image rather than a glowing image. Thanks for your comments and watching.
Don't think you'll find better value for money currently than the Arken Zulus. Pars units are pricier in comparison. People are getting hung up on the 3-12 for ratting, I have the 5-20 and have no issues taking shots at 10 yards. I understand your thoughts regarding the ballistic calculator but you don't have to use it. Also, your shooting requirements could change in the future?. I was sceptical at the beginning but I wouldn't go back to glass scopes now, the image quality through the Zulus is amazing👍
Hi dude thanks for watching & commenting etc, I agree with you whole heartedly about the value for money & image quality of the Arken optics! My gripe is the BC & RLF should be optional and for that reason I won’t be investing in one sadly. I’m waiting for something else in near future. Scopes are evolving rapidly especially digital ones! We will see what the future brings for now I’ll crack on with my Pard nv008p still an amazing scope in 2024🙌🏼
@@Ratsinthereticles I had a 008P , fantastic scope, Ive now got the DS35 70 and its very similar in performance to the 008. is the Arken Zulus any better than either of the Pards? Im yet to be convinced, maybe on price though.
Thanks for watching mate. Im waiting for the pard myself will be something special im sure I just think the Zulus has to much on it for sub 12 airgunner if your fac or powder burner im sure it would be great.
Hi I haven’t put my email on here as i only have one personal email address and don’t want to share it on here. I have Instagram @Ratsinthereticles. Cheers
