Yeah, as much I love UBW anime, I feel it didn't match Deen's Fate Stay Night in terms of atmosphere. I've yet to watch Heaven's Feel so I can't say much for it yet.
I frankly love DEEN/Stay Night better than the ufotable Fate adaptations. The artstyle and especially the music had incomparably more emotion behind it than the plastic, almost capeshlte-like artificiality of UBW and HF.
I honestly think this is the best opening in the entire franchise because it perfectly captures the sadness of the entire Holy Grail war for Shirou. Shirou finds love as a teenager, a love that can never be replicated by any mortal woman and then loses her. In the blink of a few days his entire philosophy of who he is challenged, and his life will never be the same. I think people forget Shirou becomes Archer because of how this war changed him. He will chase Saber for the rest of his life, because no woman will ever be the same for him. How could they? How can another woman ever equal a literal magical being that stood by him in a magical death battle? I've heard soldiers in real life can never replicate the friendship they experience in combat, and I am not surprised Shirou becomes such a loner after this. Aside from Rin, who can ever possibly understand what he went through? All the guilt and resentment of how he couldn't convince Saber to let go of her past to be with him will eat at him for the rest of his life. And what I love about this opening is that it's so nostalgic, and the physical quality of the record has faded over the years. It's like it captures how Shirou would feel remembering the Holy Grail war as an adult; with the memories slowly becoming dimmer but the pain and longing never going away.
The forgotten Fate Stay Night season with my favorite Saber route! Thank you so much for uploading. These 2000s and 2010s Animes get forgotten nowadays. I appreciate all the Openings and Endings in this high quality.
What a nostalgic opening. I remember this show getting lots of flack, but this will be one of my favorite Fate shows ever. The music being one of them! The little flourish that plays during the episode card is so charming.

When It first came out in 2006, it was generally considered one of the best anime released at the time, on the same level as Suzumiya Haruhi, TTGL and...Code Geass IIRC. The Archer vs Berserker fight was considered one of the best animated fight scene then. Type-Moon fans didnt meme this anime into non-existence ala Tsukihime. The only reason why it's considered bad now...is because UFOTable's movie-level adaptations exist and this becomes bad by comparison. Even then, it's still apparently considered a decent adaptation of the Fate route, which is why UFOTable only did UBW and HF.
If people really considered Deen Stay Night at the same level to TTGL and Code Geass, they should have checked their eyes. Those 2 shows have brilliant animation, plot and character development even for modern standards. Deen Stay Night had mediocre animation even for 2006, it butchered the plot of the VN and characters act stupid for no reason.
@@ChaosMissile It's been awhile since I've watched the shows you mentioned so I can't compare. But that was the experience that I had. Maybe I was just with a bunch of Type-Moon purists or whatever. But a lot of my friends and online peers seemed to disliked it :( Some people's mileage will vary I guess.
The new fans wouldn't know how to cherish this anime back in the early 2000s. I remember I was dying to watch the Fate Series on Animax every time I came back home from school. It was this anime that made me wanted to explore the Nasuverse, and I even bought the original visual novel and played it.
that's cool i still have yet to download/buy it from somewhere i remember watching this as a kid in elementary school on toonami because i first thought it was sailor moon but realized it wasn't however i was glued to it then i forgot all about it and saw canaan in 20010 and thought the art style and animation style was familiar but forgot where i had seen it (right after i got into anime) and then in 2012 right before fate zero came out i saw this again and the memories came rushing back and i was old enough to pay attention to the series and just got feelings of relaxation and nostalgia listening to the theme song. then a few months later i found fate zero watched it and soon fell into the nasuverse rabbit whole
This anime adaptation makes you feel comfortable and nostalgic (even when you're watching it for the first time). Its like you just wanna sit back and relax. Its not about the cool fights and flashy animation, its about the atmosphere with this one.
Just the atmosphere ? Thats all your argument? Thats the most superficial argument i have ever seen. It has the worst adaptation of the 3 Fate Stay night routes. Animes with better storytelling, visuals, designs, better adaptation of te source material > just the atmosphere.
Still my favorite Fate OP, the best at capturing the ethereal magic and mystery of Fate Route🔥🛡🗡🔥 The 2006 anime made by DEEN is still good enough taking into account the conext in which it was made, and I for one I'm already fond of it (plenty of great moments and Kenji Kawai's OST is godly), but it's true that I'd love an anime Remake to complete the Ufotable adaptations (an episodic TV release of Heaven's Feel wouldn't be bad either👀)

ufotableさんのFateも大好きなんだけれど、DEENさんが描くFateは作品の根本にある『神秘』の要素をいろんなところでたくさん感じられてすごく好き。
ufotableさんは反対に神秘が薄れ、過去の時代をどんどん置いて突き進む現代のスタイリッシュな感じを表現してて、何が言いたいかというとどっちも最高。

中学生の時に友達に薦められてセイバー√見てから、その後狂ったようにfate作品にハマってしまった。DEEN版のfateは1番fate感を感じられるから好き。

I love this opening. It still has the 90's vibe even though it was made in 2006.
It's similar to the visual novel style which was 2004 and probably started being made before that so it makes sense.
