I also love poly tour pro. Currently using yellow 1.2. I just love how it feels in my ezone 98. Was using hyper g for a bit. Don't really notice much difference in spin but ptp has a somewhat addictive feel, I mean it just feels so nice haha
Fair review, which mirrors my experience with that string. Personally, in the Yonex line, I prefer Polytour Fire, which is extremely slick to help with snap back and spin. I use it as a cross with Hyper G in my Vcore 95 2023. Great spin, relatively gentle on the arm, and a round poly in the crosses helps making Hyper G a bit more predictable.

I love these strings! I've tried all sorts: Wilson Champion's Choice (Luxilon ALU Rough + natural gut), Babolat RPM Blast, Volkl Cyclone, Solinco HyperG, but the Yonex Poly Tour Pro is the best. I tried by accident. I saw the nice gray ones at a Yonex shop and tried. OMG! My slices were perfect, drop shots went backwards, my balls stayed in the court, my topspin had zing, my serves just dove. Best strings ever! Highly recommended! 17 gauge, which is what Kyrgios uses, is a lot better than the 16 gauge. To get the most out of this string, string it at 50 or lower. When I was using 100" head, I set it at 48. Now that I'm using a 97" head, I've set it at 47. Plays like butter. Superb!
Nick strings at 55lbs. It's really preference after all, but pros tend to string firmer.
my string to go, 50/48 lbs in VCore 95. For more powerful rackets I used Hyper-G or Lynx Tour, but for VCore 95, PTP gives the best combination of power, control, and lively feeling. And I have a sensitive elbow, I can't use too stiff strings. I don't mind the drop in tension that much, and the benefit of poor tension maintenance is that these strings never break!
Amazing strings. I love the increased feel that they give on some of the most stiff raquets out there. PTourPro strings are just a solid choice for players who want to feel the ball more on the string bed. I love them on my Ultra Tour.

I played this and the toroline caviar back to back, and found the caviar to be as soft, but more direct in feel and more spin friendly, and held tension much better. Not sure why I’d choose ptp over caviar

Great review as always. I use Polytour Pro quite a bit, I like the softer feel and predicability, and since I string my own it’s not a big deal to restring frequently with the quick tension loss. I do find the blue significantly softer than the yellow. It feels like a completely different string, and I personally prefer the blue. I tend towards thinner gauge like 1.20 and 1.15 gives me better spin and feel, and I’m not a string breaker with Poly’s so feel and spin and lighter swing weight is key for me vs durability.
The best string ever for me, I'm currently using the fourth reel 1.25mm. 1.20mm version is much better but has a shorter life. Ideal for EZone98 at 22/23kg. Love the feel on the ball, the control, the slice.
I actually really like the strings. They do feel awesome, especially freshly strung, and they’re very consistent. I know exactly what to expect from them every time, whereas I’ve definitely gotten mixed results from a few others I’ve tried (like a dead batch or quick breaks).
I used to use them in 16x19 frames to flatten out my game, but find them more difficult to use since moving to 18x20 patterns.

Couldn't agree given my experience... set at 48lbs in head boom, found string to be very sweetspot sensitive and harsh for ground strokes. Took about 2hrs to settle in before it became consistent. Best string I've ever had on volleys though... seemed to grip and impart spin I've not found before and excellent feedback and feeling. Testing this back to back with head velocity mlt at 50lbs and dunlop iconic all... i found the multifilaments more consistent overall... not what i was expecting to experience
i don't understand. you recommend this string for players who don't break strings but it's massive tension loss wouldn't benefit those players either way. could you explain?
If you like the yonex ptp yellow but need more spin then just try the volkl cyclone in yellow too ! 😉👍
It's my go to string. I've tried other strings that are better one aspect or another but nothing is so all-around-amazing. It's very predictable and reliable, great power on the sweetspot and lasts long. Babolat RPM Blast is what comes closest. I use the 1.2 gauge.

Best string for every Yonex racquet, and I've used it in every model since 2018. The hybrid gives the most of everything. The spin of a full bed is actually heavy in the Regna 100 (most recent model), Vcore 100+, and Vcore 95 and Vcore 100 (2023). Vcore 95 (2023) is now my racquet of choice and I only use YPTP for my toughest singles matches and tournament play. Absolutely control oriented and powerful. If your mechanics to hit spin are good, you will get a heavy spin ball. Love YPTP, best of all Yonex strings. Poly Tour Fire is a close second, but much less power, still get good spin.
If your mechanics to hit topspin are good you will get a heavy spinny ball with nat gut, that's not the point.
I much prefer Polytour Fire in my 2023 VC95, on accounts of its better spin potential and tension maintenance.

@@Turbulencemodeamazingly, Velocity MLT and Wilson Sensation work great with it. I also use Wilson Gut or Babolat VS Touch. YPTP 17 mains and 16 for crosses.

I don't know why, but my hand (yes, my hand) hurts with this string... (I've already tested about 15 strings, and it only hurts with this one), and I've never seen anyone talking about it a similar condition...

I was actually really surprised with the snap back when I tried this string. Not very scientific I admit but it certainly felt snappy when displacing with fingers. Also got some good spin with it when play testing in a vcore 98.
I bauhht a lot of polytour rev. Should i consider a hybrid with some Pro?
Great string that loses tension too soon. I enjoy The PT Spin after a break in period of an hour.
Polytour pro or polytout air is the softest?
For me, PTP is one of the best in terms of feel and playability right off the stringer. BUT, the durability is the real issue. After about 2h of hard hitting it just doesn't feel that good anymore. Makes sense for pros to use as they only play with freshly strung racquets!
As far as round Yonex polys go, I've had a much better experience with Poly Tour Fire!
Do you know if a hybrid with PT strike would help with durability?
And have you tried any strings similar to PTP but with more longevity ?
Thats an interesting question. Strike in mains and Pro in Crosses like Ben Shelton. But how long does it last with good plqying characteristics?
One of my favorite strings of all time, and in 1.20mm the spin is quite remarkable , for a round poly =)

I think this is an underrated string. If you've got a powerful stroke with high spin like the pros do then string this on the mains and it will help you tame the ball. You can string it up with higher a tension than what you normally use and it will play better. The downside is it really loses its playability after a few hitting sessions. Even if you're not that sensitive to your strings you will feel the tension loss very quickly. So that makes you wonder why wouldn't I use multi strings instead then? Therein lies the best use for the string. It sits in the middle ground between multis and super stiff polys, so if you are transitioning or you want more pop but don't want to give up on the comfort and control you get the poly tour pro.
PTP goes in every frame I have. Such a good string.

I agree re durability, but it adds durability to my elbow and wrist instead. 😂 Also, the feel and fairly powerful response adds a whole lot a joy for me. For a poly, it is very nice to volley with. Also, it gives good pace on serving. Spin is plenty for me with it but sure, it's not a harsh ball biter. Great all around qualities and adds to the joy of playing tennis. Got it strung at 49/47 in Ezone 98s (2022).
Someone know how does this one compare to the babolat rpm power?
I actually had my Ezone 98’s strung with poly tour pro and poly tour rev, each racquet full bed… and I just was not a fan. They’re both too soft for me, I like that crisp, snap type feel I get and I love to generate good spin. I know when I rip a forehand with good spin, I get that crisp sensation… especially being top 50 in Texas for 18+ 4.0 moving into 4.5’s I need that ability to generate top spin. I switched from RPM Blast - mains 55lbs and Luxilon Element - crosses 53lbs… to a full bed of Dunlop Explosive Bite 53lbs mains and 55lbs crosses, and this is my cup of tea! Not sure if it’s the tension switch, or string switch, or both… but I love my setup now
I’m obviously nowhere near as good as you and have an unstrung Ezone 98 on the way. Is there a string you’d recommend based off playstyle. But that has more longevity than PTP. ?
I really like PTP, but it's too expensive for me. I don't have much experience with other Yonex polys. From what I can tell, PTP is a good all-around string. Works well to soften a crisp/stiff frame.
I played with yptp 3 years, still saying its one of the best overall string, nothing crazy good, nothing crazy bad. Agree with Jonas, low spin,tension maintnance its soft but really soft ,nic feel, quite dampened. Good overall round string. Now im playing tourna big hitter silver 1.25,cant say which one is better, tourna is just softer alu power
I just recently changed from hyper g soft to poly tour pro . I feel it keeps the tension longer. I'm sponsored by Yonex by this is an unbiased opinion since I also get a free strings from Solinco. I use poly tour on a 17g . Breaks kinda fast but keeps the tension long enough for me

Decent string but has a very different feel on impact when strung above 50 ibs. Stringing at 45 ibs and 54 ibs for me was night and day. Almost a completely different string.
Agree. At 48 on a Burn 100s it was too powerful and uncontrollable. I could only play relatively well taking the ball high and flat, which was actually very interesting. At 54 on Gravity pro I first thought it was due to bad stringjob that this nice feeling racket was playing like a board, but after some weeks both feel and playability stared emerging as the tension was dropping, so I concluded it was the tension. When I tried to put some good spin, in both cases there was not enough bite and even new balls slided on the stringbed. It had some good qualities, so I may try it as a cross at 50 to 52; no less and definitely no more.
I tried it at extremely low tension 35LBS got more bite and string snap back and alot of spin with this string

Is it possible to possess both 2handed and 1handed backhand and use them interchangeably(more likely to change per day rather than per stroke)? I only play recreationally, and I value fun just slightly more than winning most of the time. My biggest worry is the difference in footwork. The arm movement for the strokes is different enough to separate, but I worry that I'll get my footwork preparation messed up

Just used it on my ezone 100 and found it very comfortable with decent spin potential. I wanted something with more bite and crispness and switched to hyper-G and found it very similar (but more spin and less dead feeling)
So would you recommend hyper-g more ?

Honestly, if you want more a crisper feeling string, then yes try out Hyper-G. I’ve never personally tried that hybrid set up, but that sounds promising.
Re: ezone98, I did demo that prior to landing on the 100, and found it a bit stiffer. Therefore, I suspect the PTP would help with that.

I like PTP but think Revolve is a better all around choice in that type of string. I am speaking for the black version because I still need to try PTP in yellow...
There’s a big difference between black and yellow. You should try it. 54 lbs or higher, works best for me.
@@Batwam0 this one in particular, it’s a pretty soft string, also depends on the frame stiffness and weather. 50 lbs it’s the lowest.

@@francosassano615 i have tried the yellow now also. Where the black one was very muted the yellow has more feel and is livelier while retaininng good control. Perfect match at 50p in my Prince Tour 100. Maybe my new favourite set-up.

IMO, the mostly lively, controllable power among all soft poly I have tried, when FRESH.
When the tensions drops, it just becomes too soft and bouncy.
Pro players only use strings fresh, Poly Tour Pro is amazing when new, hence the logical choice for the Pros
For peasants like myself, I prefer Poly Tour Rev, slightly stiffer and not quite as lively as PTP, but much more consistent during its lifespan.

Maybe they're not "forced" into using yonex strings (which may be a little strange I guess?), maybe yonex strings are just supplied to them for free, and if they want any other string they have to pay for it? Just like most other brands do. For example Fed was supplied the wilson nat gut and Luxilon alu rough, but Nole has to pay for the Bab VS touch and alu rough.
There are lots of myths and misconceptions about Yonex I guess, as I also heard they don't like their players endorsing a different racket that the one they use, or even an older model, both of which are also untrue in Stan's case.
They definitely do like their players wearing all-yonex apparel (as does Stan), so maybe it's just about offering huge advantages (I guess in the form of sponsorship $$$) and that's why most of them use Yonex strings (not like they're bad strings after all, I guess).

I bought a (barely) used Ezone Tour strung with this.
Actually not bad, fits the racquet extremely well. Spin is OKish, heard the strings snap on every shot, result was similar.
But I cut it out after 2 matches, does not really last.
Strings with tension drop may suit pros, but are not made for amateurs at all. I don't use a freshly strung racquet every 9 games, never will.
Every type of polys will loose tension quickly ! No need to look for the one that hold its tension the longest because the difference will be very tiny
@@deuxbaone1025 Well, depends on what you call "tiny".
I tested quite a lot of strings when I bought my Blades a couple of years ago. Some strings dropped significantly faster than others, some others (like Alu Power) just lost elasticity, but not so much tension.
I would feel 1 kg (roughly 2 lbs) loss, especially when the elasticity remains the same.
Not that I could not adapt, but I notice when I have to. And in these days the balls don't drop pressure as fast as they used to, so it becomes more apparent to me.

Needs a stiff racket. Pop it in a blade to gravity and it’s no gooood
PTP Blue 1.20 had zero break in period and helped me put incredible shape on the ball ... best string I've tried and beat better players than me with it (after trialling about 12 polys this year) but it died after a few hours of hitting and loses all those great characteristics too quickly... which is why pros like it and rec players probably look to something more durable playability wise.
What about 1.30 ( yellow ) or a hybrid with a PT strike ?? Is it better if you know ?
@@Turbulencemode have just tried full bed PTPY 1.25 52M/50C in my Percept 100 and found it also very spin-friendly and more durable than blue imo. Black maybe even more durable?? My other P100 has Hyper G 1.20 and I feel the PTP 1.25 feels plusher and gets more spin. I find the Hyper G too crisp and lacking in any feel.
As you said: comparatively little spin generation and goes dead (loss of control) after 2 hours. I prefer stiffer, deader strings for the spin necessary for my style of play. Much prefer the PT Strike.
No good for injury prevention tho. I get annoyed reading players comments "It goes dead in 2hrs" - like they hit the ball as hard as Gael monfils down at their club. A stringbed will easily last several matches for most players before they notice any significant drop in tension or playability
@@matthewsalmon8194 I’m simply reporting my experience, which is the string bed gets flightier after two hours of intense hitting. One positive is that it feels sublime when playing “touch” shots. That is I feel I can really pocket a ball and slice it/drop volley where I need it to go compared to the stiffer variety of copoly.

That's something I'm looking to try in the next few months. I don't have PT Strike, but I do have a relatively standard dead-black-round poly I will try in the mains. I just strung up one frame with Hyper-G in the mains. However, I won't be able to test until later. @@Turbulencemode
I have tried several strings, and the ones I liked the most were the Solinco ones. The hyper g, and the confidence both at 1.25, and with 56 lbs. I currently only use Confidential in full bed on my yonex vcore 98.
i have tried a few strings with vcore 98 2021, but not much changed. Do you have the same issue? Polytour pro is the one i liked most although i was a hyper g fan

Pretty much identical to Head Lynx.
PTP is by FAR the best strings that i´ve ever used... Feel, consistency and a good balance power/control. (16L string at 24/25kg - Yonex Ezone 98).
But they have a problem, a big one (atleast for me), that is durability... I can use them for around 2/3h max. They start to loose tension FAST and those strengths (feel, consistency ...) start to vanish.
Exact same for me. Do you know of a comparable alternative? On the one hand, I don’t want to lose any of the qualities I like with PTP, but want better tension maintenance.
@@gholland75 i´m using Solinco Hyper G 16L Soft at 24kg and to be honest there´s not an huge difference between them. I prefer the initial feel from the PTP, but overall the Hyper G can hold his propperties for a lot longer. With Hyper G i can feel their decreasing tension from 10/12h of play, but even then, they can still be a whole lote better than PTP at 5/6h of play. They decrease tension a bit but old on just fine much better.
I had a blade v7 16/19 and after trying this string i decided to switch racket 😄 blade is quite soft by itself and with PTP it felt like playing with rubber ereaser. No crispiness at all. But thats for me, I know it works for a lot of people!

like it most of all for the soft feel. started using it on my old six.one95S and don’t want to try anything new since that time. before switching to PTP I was playing different strings from Solinco, Mayami, Technifibre, Kirschbaum, etc.

Cant stand YPTP, too much plastic feel
To me - very old, outdated and pretty bad string. It loses feel almost instantly, it doesn’t give anything special, it’s not good at anything particular… it’s just not a good string if you don’t restring enormously often or get it free. Moreover it reminds me Yonexs badminton string called BG65, but just thicker. BG65 was introduced in the late 90s. PTP in 2017? It tells the story
Great string, too soft breaks after 3/4 hours in a 1.25 gauge. Polytour strike is the better string in a blade 98 in my opinion

this stuff is garbage, loses tension after just 2 or 3 sessions. Save money and buy the babolat VS / RPM blast hybrid pack. More expensive, yes but it literally last forever and is a super high quality string set. Due to the tension maint on the Vs/RPM its actually the same price over time.
But if I hybrid it with like a Poly Tour Strike will it last longer. Are there any other strings you could compare to this ones initial feel ?
