This is one of the most beautiful transcriptions for Gershwin's 'An American in Paris'. It should be the replacement for the current piano rendition that is sold everywhere and also available free on IMSLP.org. Getting to the score yourself: I am surprised by how many folks do not seem to know how to render the "movie" pages of this piece so they can have their own copy. Just let it be said that you can leaf through all the frames while capturing each frame with a keyboard click and each frame is then manually saved to wordpad or a jpeg editor, then saved off to a uniquely named file. Each frame is about 0:10 after the introductory stuff. It is easy, and for me, it has always been just a secondary slowdown; and I learn a lot about the music because I transcribe each frame into Sibelius annotation software so I can modify the piece as I see fit and play it back through my e pianos as well as practice it & save it off to PDF for printing into my library. So maybe you really do not need to bother the artist with the same old question, "can I have a copy of your score", and do it yourself :) Just a hint, though, you have to have a lot of patience because you will be keeping track of every image and you will be saving every image as you manually leaf through the stream. There are 10 images from the first set of score to the time 1:40 (stanza 94). Thus this piece has about 90 pages total because it goes through 9:19. GOOD LUCK :)
Frank your transcription is amazing. Pianist in Seattle please let me know if you publish. Is there any chance that you could reformat part two so the music plays three lines at a time instead of measure by measure? Also the ending is missing is there a part three? I listen to your German recording of the whole piece. Astonishing playing. This is definitely up there with the grace castagnetta concerto in F transcription for solo piano. I hope the Gershwin foundation grants you publishing rights. Cheers🎹
you have some mad skills! I mean it, both technically speaking and your transcription! First really successful transcription of American in Paris, as far as I know. Do think about publishing, mine would be your first money earned from it!
the best version I ever heard, almost 15 times.
very well written, spectacular arrangement
excellently played AND presented till unfulfilled end
this is a really beautiful song. thank you so much
Unfortunately there is no published score of my transcription. I hope I can change that soon!
In a few days I will add the first part ... ;)
Frank Dupree Am I able to access sheet music for you transcription yet? Thanks!
