Pirate Jenny Gentlemen, you now see me rinsing your glasses, And I'll make a fresh bed up for you, And you'll tip me a few pennies, and I'll thank you very well, And you see me dressed in tatters, in this tatty old hotel, And you cannot tell who stands before you. And you cannot tell who stands before you. But one of these evenings there'll be shrieks in the harbor, And they'll ask: Who the hell would shriek like that? And they'll see me give a smile across my glasses, And they'll say: What's she got to smile about? And a ship with eight sails And its fifty guns loaded Will tie up at dusk.
Brilliant. Easily up there with any other rendition. Always found Nina Simone and even Lenya's versions too harsh. There's definitely just the right amount of that here but also Jenny's yearning. She really wishes this was real.
This is my favorite rendition of this song. Absolutely gorgeous.
Your rendition is one of my favorites. You really get into her character and make me believe it will happen for her. And you have a gorgeous voice.
Oh Brecht would've hated it. Way too beautifully sung! :D
Agreed ;)
Beautiful job!!
You use your eyes to communicate well, the eyes sell the singing. Nice effort back in 2015.
That's how to do it!
Second only to Nina's version. Great interpretation

She's miscast- she's way too beautiful and classy for PIRATE JENNY.
but i think for Polly she is lovely. and here she is not Jenny. She is Polly telling as Jenny
