I found this video 4 years ago. Got drunk and started looking for covers, as is my tradition, and stumbled on this gem, then watched the whole set. Woke up the next day not remembering what I watched, pissed as hell because of it, but knowing I saw and heard greatness. Buddy turned me on to Jinks last year, and I went to my first concert this past April. Saw one of these posted a few weeks ago in the Blacksheep Pasture and it finally clicked.
A great tribute to Toy Caldwell who wrote it. His birthday coming up Nov 14,1949. Sadly, we lost him Feb 25, 1993. Follow you on facebook and like your music. Toy would be happy if he knew his music was appreciated by young people. I'm of the 70's, grew up down the road from him, knew Toy. He was a purple heart Marine vet that looked 16 when he came home from Nam. Thank you, Cody Jinks by doing this rendition of a great picker.
Early, Cody Jinks! Greatest cover song I have heard. Next to Poncho and Lefty. A Townes Van Zandt song. Now that's a cover song! Cody Jinks your the best country singer today. Go! Far my friend! Had to put my mother in the retirement home today! Drink en and think en! Shawn
So he went from this (semi-country) to metal, and then VERY quickly back to country around 2012? Love his country stuff. I "found" him a couple of months ago, by accident, right after he had just played several sold-out shows in Franklin Ohio. Glad to see that he made the Opry, but fear that he may be too big to come back to Franklin next summer! Good, good, gooooood stuff right there.
YSRRacerX He actually started in a metal band (the story of 65 Days in LA) and then left that band and returned to Texas to begin his solo singer/songwriter career.
I met Cody and Josh when they were playing at a small cigar bar in Euless, TX. I liked their sound a lot and made a habit to go see them when they played there every other Thursday. At the same time I had just bought my first house and was going to have a little party, so I asked Cody if he'd come play it. We became better friends over the years and he played my annual BBQ for six years before he simply got too busy. That's the story of how I got him to play my backyard BBQ!
nice vocal tone, well done. try the Fmajor sharp. 4,5&6 strings with index finger, muffle low E. your fingers form the letter C with index and thumb, mush easier and rich sounding

Any time I'm listening to Cody or other good country I end up listening to this. What a great cover.

Great and spontaneous. Not corporate like today's music. Thanks!

Was this really them back in the day? If so, this is definitely a jewel.
Metal head for sure
Jason, I'd love to hear the background behind how you met Cody and got him to play at your BBQ. Really cool to see how his career has progressed.

@@BigJasonRR Awesome, thanks for sharing!
@@BigJasonRR that's incredible!
JasonFuhst I remember when you brought him with you to the bike shop. I’ve been a fan ever since.
@@BigJasonRR josh sure can play the hell out of that base. Man. He shreds it. Great playing. Now does josh sing on his own now?
Hell Yeah!!! But who are those kids singin'?!😂😂
nice
He is cute? The guy in the white khaki? Wow!!!
DAMN, COME TO MY BBQ SOON.... AMAZING !!!! ...CAN'T BE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN SMELL THE WHISKEY AND MOONSHINE NOW!!!!!
on the 2nd fret
What year was this ?
2009ish
As good as this sounds with the recording quality damn I miss them camp fires with a good friend and his guartar
Cuter then the other one? So cute! Younger? Is he maybe him? Ha ha ha.
What, no flute? I'm outraged! Ok, not really. Great cover of one of my favorite bands. Doug Gray is tough to cover.
Cody Jinks playing at a backyard kegger is still better and more country than Luke Bryan.
Damn good Hoss! Really hope you're not a Commi.
Hokey Sloan He’s a good ole East Texas native. 👍🏼
Which one is cody
Kevin Ray The one on the right!
Closest to house
That's Cody Jinks singing but that's not Cody Jinks
Um, what?
That don't look like neither

People in the background should really shut up and let the man sing are you serious
