Foi Thong is a Portuguese dessert called fios de ovos, which means yarn made from eggs. This snack is made from egg yolk noodles. Foi Thong was made into a Thai dessert by a woman named Maria Guyomar de Pinha, half Portuguese and Japanese. She was the wife of a Greek nobleman who served as a high court official in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. which was the former capital of Thailand around the year 1659. She used to serve as head of the royal kitchen. There are many types of Thai desserts that she considered adapting from Western desserts to Thai desserts. She is therefore highly regarded in this area. Most Thai people know her from textbooks and her story has also been made into a character in a very famous Thai drama.😊
Well, he went out of his way to help us out when he could have just dumped us off at the side of the road. lol On that point, we never know when and where it's okay to tip at places 😅
@13:40 Foy Thong... Golden strips or strings. I forgot about that. Also on my carb/sugar restricted list. It's basically a trio of desserts made from pure egg yolk and sugar; available in pure form also. Yeah!
I enjoy this video good editing and presentation! And I love that "It's fine" reaction to the egg tart haha I do appreciate a natural reaction like that
Love your videos; I love the realness; it definitely inspired a lot of me and my husband's trip this coming February!! What hotels/hostels are you guys staying at in Chiang Mai??
Thank you so much! We are definitely budget travelers when it comes to accommodations and try and keep our nightly rate at less than $25. We stayed in three budget hotels in Chiang Mai: Anumat Hotel -great location in old city and comfortable rooms TJR Boutique - also a great location. Rooms were comfortable but there was an INCESSANT rooster at the next door property 😂 Bon Pongphan - about a 15 minute walk to old city. Great night market right across the street All three were reserved through booking.com 😊 there are a lot of really nice hotels in Chiang Mai as well if you have a bigger budget
I was about to watch one of your videos in order to get my assignment done. But now I just can’t stop watching your videos 😂 เที่ยวให้สนุกครับ🙏 can’t wait for your upcoming video.
Thailand has a wide variety of food. And there are other foods that Thai people make and prepare to have a Thai taste. May you eat them happily. and travel safely in my country.
@@TheDetourDuo When I travel to the north at night I like to lie down and look at the stars. Northern night sky During the cloudless period You can clearly see the stars, it's very beautiful.
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching and taking the time to share such kind words. Editing these videos is a long process, but it's motivating to know viewers like you really enjoy the style.
Northern Thai sausages are okay. But I like the western/northwestern Isaan sausages much more. I'm actually going to be in Thailand mid-February and the food is going to be a problem; I'm on such a carb restricted diet for type 2 diabetes that the portion of rice/noodles and goodies will be painfully small. Imagine trying to enjoy Pad Krapow with a dollup of rice.
We've been here 2 months eating spicy foods. I'm certainly not an expert, but I don't think it's spicy food that causes people to get food poisoning. I think it has more to do with how food is prepared. Maybe we're just lucky
Songthaew drivers rip you off. I go to Chiangmai every year. I guarantee if you were a local, it would have been a quarter of the price. Grab Taxi's also don't have the street exhaust + A/C the "Red Trucks" are very aggressive to the Grab Drivers, even blocking them in so they can't leave... I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER take a SONGTHAEW!!!!!!!!!! It's a dying system if you're not local. There are also Yellow Trucks that go out of town to the "suburbs."
If you know the meaning of the Thai national anthem, you will know how much Thai people love their country. When an enemy invades Thailand, they fight until the last drop of blood. Thank you for coming to rest in Thailand. I wish you happiness in Thailand and ah. Find the one that suits you.🙏

Once these funds get up...

Have you ever tried Sai Oua? It's a little spicy, but delicious. Pork caps and young chili paste are also worth a try. They go well with beer.
Not yet! That sounds really good though!

One thing I always wonder about is toilets ? Is there any at the night markets ?
I don't recall at the night markets having wash rooms. That we saw anyway. Might be a rest area at either end but we didn't see any

“I need waffle” lol

Thank you. Happy Holidays to you as well!
i paused, blew up to full screen at 2:47 just to see the cameras. where they very cheaply priced as well?
I wasn't allowed a long enough look lol. For the quick glance they looked pretty cheap. Been looking for an old school film camera too.
0:48 the waffles took over her brain
lol
I hate living near the walking street because I might suck up all the thing that i see VERY DANGEROUS!!!🤣
Haha can totally relate. That's what happened to us!
Not a lot of bugs cuz they eat them all! Lol
Lol
19:03 Yeah, It's definitely for the Tourists,
because Most of Thai people (~90% plus) never eat Scorpions,
and I mean it Seriously. Ha ha ha
assumed as much ha ha
If you think Mao flashing the devil horns raised your eyebrows, you need to see the Hitler European Tour shirts on Khao San Road.

Do not forget! Or you'll have food poisoning in thailand there were spicy foods like curry so do not eat to many spicy foods!

The food in Thailand will gain you weight more and more. 😁😆😅
That we are finding out. haha. We somehow had the idea we'd be losing weight on this trip 😅
@@TheDetourDuo 😁😁
Eating scorpions Considered a good idea But you shouldn't eat it every day.
Trust me. I don't plan on it 🤣
