Get a job, go to college, or join the military, those were the options my grandpa gave to my dad. He ended up doing did all three, man was raised a carpenter and worked as a general outdoorsy handyman, joined the navy and then the army and got stationed in West Germany to relay morse codes and play chess, then took the GI bill for three diplomas. His one weakness was being too prideful in his self-sufficiency, skipped his blood pressure meds and miraculously survived a stroke in 2000s, never gave in to the thoughts that his life was over, and didn't pass away until May of last year. The greatest man I've ever known was given a great start.
All valid... ... But not up to the state to decide. Smarter plan: Classes or portions thereof that provide career stats, real college prep and/or connect the kids with the relevant trades. Military careers should be real with the good AND the bad about the military for soldiers/officers Give these kids an opportunity to know what's what
If the state can’t require people who are mentally and physically capable of one of those three options. They should then be cleared to tell those same people to go pound sand. When they show up looking food stamps, welfare, cell phones, or any free stuff. And if they try other options, they may wind up with a scholarship to state prison.
Yeah but let's say you can't line up a job or get into college, they're forcing you to enlist to get a piece of paper you fucking earned. I'm all for PARENTS doing what this is, but the government needs to stop trying to be my daddy.
This would be horrible government over reach. And only hurt poorer families by making them unable to even have a high school diploma, or forcing them in to the military. Which is exactly that point here. To keep the poor poor and maybe get some military recruitment. All while continuing to lower education standards. It's funny this comes from the party of "small government." When will the MAGAts realize the truth? Small government only applies to not taxing the rich or charging them with crimes. In all other areas, Republicans want complete control of all faucets of life. This is another step in that direction. Hopefully it doesn't go through. But in trumps America, something even worse is very likely.
Fact is, that the Saudis wanted that man and because nobody can trust them NOT to kill him Germany could not send him there ... sometimes its not so good that german constitution.

@habituallinecrosser thank you for acknowledging what happened here in New Orleans and that day truly sucked probably the worst New years in my entire 37 years on this planet
So here’s a thing I read about a while back. Canada was supposed to get the F-35 years ago, but it failed a critical review standard for entry into their air force: it’s a single engine jet. And because of just how much of their air space is over huge swathes of otherwise totally inaccessible sub-arctic forest and tundra, they wanted a new plane that had two engines for redundancy reasons. Because having to punch out over the middle of the ocean or mountainous desert teeming with insurgents are vastly more survivable than dropping into a remote stretch of Canadian wilderness with only a thermal flight suit and parachute silk for shelter.
The single engine was an issue that the politicians/pundits made a lot of hay on but it wasn't a particular concern for the RCAF. Modern aircraft engines are much more reliable than they were when we were doing the F-18 purchase and made that requirement. The biggest issue was range. I would like to see Canada get some F-15EXs to supplement the F-35 or help finance the FA-XX program with the USN and buy some of those when they are ready as they would have the range necessary to do intercepts at the edges of our arctic and return without tanker support. The F-35 program in Canada was the victim of politics. It was not a controversial choice for the people who were actually going to be using the aircraft.
That wasn’t the issue we were still a member of the F-35 program from 1997 until 2017 when Trudeau cancelled it because it was “to expensive” he then started a competition for new bids which the F-35 won back in like 2022-23 it also screwed up the whole program partner thing Lockheed has going to we dropped to a lower tier after cancelling originally which mean less parts built in Canada
@ Thank you very much for the insight and corrections! I was going off years old memories and wasn’t in a position to take the time to refresh myself and get up to date on things.

It was in the middle of my bed. I couldn't speak, lost the ability for my vocal cords to produce sound and think at the same time. My then partner was standing next to me with his back to the bed. I had to grab his belt and physically turn him around and point while he's trying to ask questions, seeing my face and knowing I'm not playing. Got him turned just enough to point to the bed. The only reason either was indoors was mating season, for the full grown individuals. Made things worse the fact I was watching the Lord of the Rings movies. After seeing Shelob, I saw the first one shortly thereafter. I had to watch the movies without seeing those scenes, I was convinced that if I saw her on screen, it would happen again, since it had already happened coincidentally twice. I may laugh now, but internally... yeah. That poor pilot would need a psyche eval and a luxury stay in a comfortable padded room for awhile.
Eehh, for Oklahoma it feels like the same story told again; government requires you to do something, but doesn't give you the financial supports to do it. If someone isn't going to college, they ain't going to college. Only now, they won't even have a GED to get jobs requiring a high-school degree.
The F22 will never be exported because we do not have the tools needed to build the infrastructure, that is needed to house them. They are very delicate and need specific facilities, and tools to maintain them. We have no way to make more, because we destroyed all of the molds. Therefore, if we sold them to allies, our allies would have no way of maintaining them properly, and they'd have to be flown back to a U.S. base for maintenance after every flight. We ALSO cannot produce export versions of the F22 for allies, because we cannot build ANY F-22's period. It will never happen because it's impossible.

Between New Orleans and Waukesha, we need some Common Sense Pickup Truck Control. Literally *NOBODY* needs an Assault Truck with a high-capacity cargo bed.
You need to run for a seat in the US House of Representatives.
You have a firm grip on the problem.
We need some to keep track of what people are using as weapons and take care of the problem by banning them.
I'd be up for common sense pickup truck control, mainly because of those headlights that feels like you went to heaven and will send you there if you're not careful.

Military careers should be real with the good AND the bad about the military for soldiers/officers
Give these kids an opportunity to know what's what
If the state can’t require people who are mentally and physically capable of one of those three options.
They should then be cleared to tell those same people to go pound sand. When they show up looking food stamps, welfare, cell phones, or any free stuff.
And if they try other options, they may wind up with a scholarship to state prison.
It should not be requirnments to graduate high school though.
So, same thing happened in germany, actually. A guy drove a truck through a christmas market back in december.
France had the same happen a few years back and an isis attack in the early 2010s i think.

@@avroarchitect1793 those upgrades are more than just code, its electronics and systems as well, so its not shocking, unless we moved to a more militarized economy they won't ever be able to keep up.

@michelleferguson9104 yeah that's exactly where I heard it
Ah yes, the "Temper Temper" incident.
The North Koreans shot a 50mm shell at USS Wisconsin, grazing the deck. USS Wisconsin turned round and unleashed a full broadside of 9 16" shells weighing 2700lbs/1.22 tons each, wiping out the artillerey emplacement, and destroying the mountain they were positoned on. The ship accompanying Wisconsin, USS Buck, sent a message to her saying "Temper Temper" to which Wisconsin replied "But they started it!"

Pilots do have survival kits. With enough SERE training, one can get by for several days with very little equipment even in those harsh conditions.

I'm guessing that we'll not allow the F22 for export until the 'Darkstar' is ready. Might as well have Poland's on standby
