For those of us who are a little older - well maybe more than a "little older" - I definitely recognize that tool from my decoupage days in the '70s. It's a brayer roller!

That is a tool that was used many years ago to roll the seams when wallpapering. The seams were always a problem if you didn’t roll them well. I had one back in the day as I did a lot of wallpapering.

I use decorated napkins frequently in my journals if I have several related items that I want to include, such as several photos, or a few family recipes, maybe some newspaper clippings on the same subject, or maybe include a few fabric swatches in an envelope to use later in the journal. They look so nice and they keep small related ephemra together.

It's a brayer------a multi purpose tool. There are hard hard ones and rubber ones. Roll out air bubbles, secure glued paper to other paper, use to roll paint onto a collage, essential for using a geli plate to roll paint onto the geli plate. Very useful tool.

I have a wooden roller quite like the one you used. Back in the 1980’s-90’s, I used it to smooth and adhere the edges of wallpaper and wallpaper borders. I had wallpaper in many rooms. It was beautiful. Why don’t we use wallpaper anymore? I had the most gorgeous red plaid in my front hall. I stenciled beautiful borders in other rooms. It was all the rage. You could learn how to stencil in stores that sold stencils. I remember a store that had a large selection of stencils on the walls, so I could be inspired to buy that stencil. Those were the days!
