Love these skill builders! In addition to the advertised skill, I like that Cheech is dropping all kinds of tips to make tying easier.
I love the skill builder videos, please keep them up, they have already helped me improve my own fly tying and I just started watching today!
Best video yet for showing how to do a pinch wrap. The overhead view really shows the technique very well. Thanks for the instructions i hope you continue with them.
Love the skill builders. I appreciate your explanations. Keep ‘em going, Cheech!
MANY thanks for producing the SkillBuilder Series.
VERY well targeted and delivered.
All your work & content GREATLY appreciated.👏👏👏🍻🍻🍻
Really like videos like this. Outstanding
Best video I have seen on tieing in deer hair for sure
Love the hoodie RN4L AP
YESSSSS. GO AP!!!!
These videos are really great because there’s always something new to learn !
I can’t wait to try that pinch wrap technique! Thank you for taking the time to make these educational videos! FFFForever ❤
Excellent. I’ve tied for 30 years and still learned. It’s ongoing. Well done on the SB’s. Thanks
Hey Cheech. These videos are great. Any chance you could do something about working with marabou in such a way that it doesn’t end getting all over the place making your desk look like an air strike on a turkey farm?
10-4. Airstrike cancelled!
Awesome tips ! Mega Thx !!!
Keep up this fine series. Very interesting and to the point👍
Great tutorials, especially with the ice dub. I'd like to see tips on wrapping brushes and hackle. Thanks, Cheech.
Love the ice dub tip. Please continue these tip vids.
Loving the skill builder series!
I love the SB videos. There are so many tips woven into your topics. Thanks.
Great video and great points. Since I started tying probably 95% leeches, streamers, nymphs. etc.. everything wet. Tied some elk hair caddis and they work, but frustrating. Your points will help me a lot. Thanks!!
Your fly tying videos are always better with the Raider Gear On! Thanks. Keep up the good work! Commitment To Excellence!
Great user name!!!
I said it before and I'm sure I will say it again - these videos are great and incredibly helpful. May I suggest three topics, one of which may require a multi-video series on its own?
1. How to tie materials at the hook end after I've wrapped them. I'm trying to tie the Sparkle Gnat you posted a video on last week and I just cannot tie the Shimmerbou on at the hook end after wrapping it around the fly. I've had this issue with other materials as well. I don't know if I'm too close to the eye, letting slack get in my thread or what I'm doing wrong. You make it look very easy, but it's not and I suspect I'm not the only one who feels that way.
2. How to identify alternate materials. For example, again with the Sparkle Gnat, I was able to get some Shimmerbou, but how can I figure out what an acceptable substitute is if I don't have a particular material?
3. Demystifying hooks. I don't mean how to read the package, but (a) why is it important to use a certain shape hook for a certain type of fly, (b) what are the key differences between the hook types and (c) how can I determine an appropriate substitute if I don't have the specific hook mentioned in the recipe?
thanks for the Pinch wrap hack. Awesome, made it easier for sure.
These hacks are money! Love every video, you guys rock!
When you do the dubbing video are you guys going to demonstrate different styles or types of dubbing twisters? I’m sure you guys have already considered it as this could be a good demonstration as to why a tier of any skill level may realize they would get a better result spinning dubbing and complex twist style loops using different tools depending on the material going into the loop.
That hotspot caddie did look good
Another great educational video! By the way, you would look good in a Pittsburgh Steeler shirt!
Absolutely love this series.
I love these skill builder vids. Thanks for taking the time to create them. I'd like to see how you tie in the deer hair the opposite way for a Comparadun.
Gonna happen!
You are such a super star. Thanks for the insights.
Best skills video yet. Great tips!!
Once again. Super tips!!!
Hey cheeks great videos your skill building series is fantastic thanks
Could you make a video about stick on eyes on streamers. How to glue eyes on without building up a big heavy uv glue head. Like more elegant way. Thanks for the tips
Nice thankyou. Learning heaps
Nice
Wow! Nice Cheech, thanks😉👍
For the dubbing video: why choose one dubbing technique vs another? (split thread vs dubbing loop, for example)
Gota get that pinch wrap down, thanks.
You should try that same fly but with caribou something about a off color white
my hair wings got way better once I started making a couple of wraps around only the hair first before catching the hook too
What hook is the caddis on the thumb tied on?
Ok so I've only been tying for about a year now. Some may find this silly but I honestly am not sure of this answer. I want to learn/ advance my "deer" hair skill. Is buying a cheap soft pelt going to hinder my learning or should it help improve my skill? Is there a difference between buying a square chunk for $8 and buying a cheap soft pelt for $60? And I get the biggest difference is how firm one is to the other. I would think I could still make a muddler with a cheap Amazon pelt or would that be best used for tails and or wings
I get it's a ton of hair too but if you're trying to pound techniques you would need a lot of hair
What is the bobbin you’re using?
I'm a new(er) tier...only at it about 4 or 5 months.
I'm getting the hang of most of this stuff and have made some great progress...if I do say so myself.
One question:
Why does my dubbing "J Hook" off of the thread?! I'll start it good, using "less than I think I'll need" ...start going down, dubbing in ONE direction...then say, towards the bottom it comes OFF the thread and "J's" all up...wrapping on ITSELF and NOT the thread! ugh...I know I'll get there, but any advice would be sweet!! Thanks!
Great idea I know how to help! We’ll add it to the list.
I live on a river no trout but lots of bass shoal bass smallies what fly is best michigan
What vise do you use ?
A custom Renzetti Master
When are you going to restock your tool selection? Most of the tools I see you usage out of stock. I'm just starting down this rabbit hole and need to get some tooling. 😢
We order weekly from most vendors. If it’s out on our site it’s likely back ordered from the mfg.
@@FlyFishFood thanks for the reply. I'll keep my eyes open for the tools I think will benefit my setup
why didn't you "close" the dubbing loop? SMH!!!
You should know this… it’s because my materials were already on the thread. No need to add a step if the material is already placed.
@@FlyFishFood doesnt that lend itself to "opening the loop
' as its wound?
@@user-vf5hu6bf2k nope
I tried zooming in and out with my fingers on my iMac and you made me look like an idiot, thanks for nothing Cheech!
