  • In this video, I discuss what gear I would choose to gig with and why I made that choice. There's a ton of options available, but IMHO, there's one very easy choice for me for the best live guitar rig.

      That's correct. NOTHING sounds as good as a tube amp and cab. Anything else is just trying to clone the original source and no real guitarist/musician uses a Kemper or simulated amp and cab live. If you don't have your own tone and just playing covers...yeah, I can see the benefits of a simulated rig. However, if you are an original band, professional band, have your own tone....nothing better than a real tube amp and cab. Likewise, the symbiotic relationship a real amp and cab has with the player, you don't get with a emulator/simulator.

    • @tanner5855
      @tanner5855 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RozsaAmplificationLLC so Metallica along with many other who use kempers, axe fxs live aren’t real bands? Lol cmon man, most big bands are using in ears anyway, so having a cab and amp on stage is not really practical. Since you are hearing a miced up cab in your ears anyway.

    • @RozsaAmplificationLLC
      @RozsaAmplificationLLC ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tanner5855 I think you answered your own question! " so having a cab and amp on stage is not really practical."
      It's the EASY way out, NOT god tone and people may do it to chice out and big bands have budget and easier to move a 5# head/cabinet emulator than 55# head and 100# cabinets, which cost money....but it doesn't mean it's going to give you the best sound and as I said, symbiotic relationship with a guitar and pickups feeding back in a live setting (think Hendrix). It's NOT the same.
      Kempers and emulators/simulators have a use in cover bands or in a studio, but not really in professional bands and original bands with one's own tone (think EVH, Randy Rhoads).
      I stand by my statements and not a road I'M going to go on.

    I don't know, I've never had an issue with an amp at a gig. Never had a person spill anything on my amps. Never had anything stolen, etc.
    Maybe I should sell all my amps and just do the modeling rig, I have considered that. I'd still need a guitar cab live, with no mics.

    Keep in mind that a lot of small clubs and bars don't mic amps at all.
    Places we play only run vocal and some drums thru the PA. Guitars is often stage volume so your cab is doing all the work, no mic of PA. So it really vsries
    So with this in mind, I like to have my amp and can. If it's the rare place we play that runs the guitar thru the PA. I can go direct. If I brought a Kemper to a shoe, if have to bring a real can and amp anyway.
    The thing I found with a Kemper is that I feel like I'm playing a recording of an amp and not an actual amp.
    I'm still learning about it.
    That said, places we play don't mic up amps so it's a mute point. :(
    Problem is I've invested so much into my amps and cabs and feel weird not using them live. Plus I don't have an option with no mics on my guitars live.

    i'm rocking a splawn quick rod with my waza tube amp expander. I love having that big sound . I like the feel of low end and the cabinet pushing air . Yeah it's heavy as fuck and a pain in the ass, but I"ve gotta have that low end and beef. Its not nearly as much fun for me. I tried the kemper with in ears and I hated it. It was like I was jamming at home to backing tracks.

    I’ve giged a kemper and it’s been the best giging experience I’ve ever had. The only thing I missed was having cabs on stage for feedback, but that can be solved with a powered kemper and a cab on stage, and you can still send a direct signal to front of house.

    You just gave me an idea to create am amp in the box style carrier for a half with using a head. I use a basic 4 cable method with my pedal board and it pretty much stays the same. Why not just have a nice box that opens up like a suitcase and already have everything ready to go? I mean, you have to design it for gigging to easily be loaded and unloaded off the truck. But I do get what you mean. But damn if I would own all those amps and not be using them live. But then again, its just me. I like the look of a stage with nice stacks on it, the air pushing past me. Ive been to a few concerts with no stacks on stage and I might as well been sitting at home listening the the stereo. Again, I'm old school and loved playing live. I hardly ever thought of playing what I love doing as work.

    hmm most places I play are small bars/clubs that have limited sound systems, sometimes not even micing the guitar amps, so I wouldn't be confident that my sound were come across as well as I wanted, or that I'd be able to hear myself adequately using a digital platform. I totally get the convenience and that a modeler sound as good, but for the small places I play it seems like an amp is still required to make sure I get my sound. I actually bought an FM3 a while back but sold it after I realized it wouldn't work for most of the gigs I play. Btw, thanks, love the content!

    I rally like the FM9, but Tube amps still sound better, but you are right on a stage a live gig mic'ed is just noisy and mic placement is a second thought. I did sound in a few clubs, and they may get past your level and into tone by the 3rd or 4th song. So having an awsome sound out the box is the ticket. Love my stacks, but can't afford a roadie.

    I like your videos and I get what you say. I play hard rock guitar, mainly in small venues (Valve amp and Cab few pedals) no in ears.
    I always eq my amp at the start of a gig (sound check) and turn it up as the night goes on. This is impossible with modellers like Kemper because of the menus you have to flip through and adjust. If you play same volume every night use a Kemper I guess? Love your playing and knowledge. Ride on bro.....I'm in UK thats why I'm a dumb ass.

    I'm torn. If I was in a weekly gigging band I'd probably shop for a Kemper or similar. But for the handful of weddings or family/graduation parties I do each year I like using my amp. All depends on the environment though. I'd be upset if it got knocked over or stolen.
