I like to think Silent King doesn't lie, or manipulate. He just out thinks, outplays and out guns. Like he lied once and destroyed his people, and he would not lie again even to save it.
Yeah out of all the characters in 40k. From the little I know about the Silent King. He doesn't seem like he would lie about anything let alone that.
He probably never needed to lie in his entire life. He is the Silent King afterall.
So it makes little sense for him to be manipulative. He honestly seems honorable as well. Unlike his kin who definitely do manipulate.
From all the comments I've read about the Silent King is that he's the lawful good/neutral foil to Ahriman being chaotic side of the ol' D&D alignment chart. Especially sense both's goals are basically the same

My personal take is that the Silent King wasn't lying because he himself didn't see the need for it. He was being honest because honesty in that situation was the best course of action. Necrons rarely see the benefit to deceit, because they consider themselves so above everything else that they have no reason to use guile to get things done.
the silent kind is by far the most open minded and stable nekron active at the moment.. he is a fountain of knowledge that even the emperor would love to talk to.. sangui loves to talk and learn xD he was a little nerdy.. imagine his happyness.. "this robot dude is millions of years old.. and he knows a bunch of super cosmic shit.. magnus will be so yellow :O"

The reason the Silent King is so stable and sane is because he NEVER went to sleep! When all the other Necron went to sleep, he left the galaxy during that time and went off into the void. He was awake and aware this whole time trying to find a way to reverse what was done.

Also, this strikes me as a situation where the Silent King has no REAL reason to lie - wven if it was only because he found it beneath him to bother with the effort of lying to a lessor creature. That, or Szarekh had enough grudging respect for the Angel that he simply out and told Dante and friends the truth. Either way, I like to believe they at least met and were non-hostile/had a good bit of a chat.

Definitely need a book about how Sangy and the SK met now, probably a nice pre-heresy novel.
It's also mentioned in one of the Grey Knights Codices that they have a stash of Tesseract Vaults (Necron Pokeballs that can trap daemons indefinitely) and it's also said that relations with the race who provided them have since deteriorated - implying they were gained via democratic means. My theory is that Sanguinius was sent by Malcador to treat diplomatically with the Silent King, and acquired these artifacts in return for something - probably leaving a load of tomb worlds alone or something. While Sanguinius didn't understand the need for combatting Chaos till the events of Signus Prime, Malcador did and would have picked Sanguinius due to his charisma.
Also the fact Sanguinius was one of the least murder hobo-y of the group.

Szarekh is a king of a species and Necrons tend to lean towards 'every other species is lesser' way of thinking. So I don't believe he would lie to Sanguinius because, would the pride of a king allow him to outright lie to a 'lesser' being. Plus, if you equate the Silent King to the Emperor as a leader of the species, then Sanguinius as a Primarch isn't that far off Szarekh's level of authority. Therefore, would he lie to something as grand as he? Kings are full of ruler's pride even if they are down to earth monarchs. Lying is something a weak creature, fearful of consequences, would do as such lying is beneath a king

why do i have the feeling that the silent king requires the emperor to return the necrons to flesha dn blood as is now stuck in a hole because he paria nexus is a threat to the emperor?
With how the necrons wage war if they return to flesh and blood wouldn’t they delete themselves? The majority of their empire if enslaved peasants who aren’t military gods so I don’t see how they would reclaim the stars unless they just delete everyone first.

I think it's more of a case of the silent king being pragmatic and not putting all of his eggs in one basket. The pariah nexus is just his latest attempt at laying the groundwork for the necrons to become flesh and blood once more. Though I think that this may be a forlorn effort as the necrons could potentially recreate their biological bodies but because of their lack of souls (or negative souls that human pariahs have), I doubt that they could actually reverse the biotransference process successfully.
There's also the fact that afaik there exists no necrontyr remains, fossilized or not with intact DNA to recreate a body from. So the necrons are essentially condemned to their current existence as soulless living metal robots.

Also, part of the superior DNA of a primarch is his personal identety. It will regenerate it's own self.

I don't know about that, the Primarch's were sort of designed in a way where they could be returned, and even the Traitor Primarch's (which have effectively had their Soul's scooped out and replaced with Chaos stuff) are supposedly able to be redeemed if we go by the Emperor.
Sanguinius major narrative role was going to his death because he saw it as inevitable, he's also objectively still floating around in the Warp, so creating a new body seems like a decent narrative conclusion for the character, his reward for his sacrifice, and a powerplay by the Emperor to bring back His most capable warrior.

Honestly, it would've been a shock if The Silent King had the same reaction Lion had. Dante shows up and sees the pained/angry face of Sanguinius then he starts to get more angry. The Silent King would focus on Dante while shouting "DID YOU TORMENT HIM TO GET THAT EXPRESSION YOU WEAR?!" while putting more pressure on Dante.
And yet Dante and the Silent King both intended to betray each other

Nah, ferus shoved his arm in a necron tomb or armory on his home world before big E. Thats why his legion became the iron hands, becaude he lost his army bwcause the necron metal was eating and replacing his arm.
The Emperor has some Necron technology, the Golden Throne and Astronomicon are likely built from a fusion of Necron and Old One technology, and the labyrinth under Mars is entirely of Necron construction.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Silent King and the Emperor had talked at some point, and the Szarekh taught Him how to use some aspects of their technology (because Necron technology is well beyond anything that DAoT humanity had, so it takes a significant amount of work to understand by humans, like Belisarius Cawl is probably the most intelligent Loyalist alive and he's only got the most basic understanding of Necron science despite literally talking to Necrons and augmenting himself with potentially Necron technology) because they were aligned in defeating Chaos and stopping the absolute end of the Galaxy. Could even be the reason the Silent King left the Galaxy for a bit (get out of the way during the Great Crusade to look for potential solutions to his own problems then returned afterwards to fix the Necrons).
Look forward to the next opportunity I have to introduce someone to a group of people. “Hey everyone this is Steve, he’s a non hostile acquaintance of mine.”
Also Silent King is one of the few honorable characters in the setting.
To add more the their "team up"
That offer was made mainly to pacify the BA that kept fighting the necrons forces, that came exclusivelly to fight the Tyranid fleet. As once the fleet was weakened and able to be defeated by BA alone, the necrons gathered their things and skeddaddled from the system as they agreed to do after the fight is done.
(Dante planned to kill the Silent King after the fight, betraying their deal. In my opinion that was an exclusivelly rare Dante L)

Szrekh too seems to be a bit different and pragmatic
Only about half are this way actually. Many others can be reasoned with. Hell...one of them woke up to find Tau were starting to colonize their tomb world but the colonization had just begun. They literally surrounded the Tau with numbers uncountable and told them...this world and system belong to them. The Tau were allowed to leave without a shot fired. Albeit they were warned they will be destroyed if they show up again.
Necron have worked with the Imperium many times, and had non-aggression pacts with various systems. Amusingly...one of the necron on necron wars came about because a different dynasty attacked a world a different one had a pact with.
Necrons are culturally quite diverse which is why alot of them end up conflicting with one another, only the silent king has the ability to unite them without force, they also inherently dont view life as a problem especially now that they exist with the consequences of trying to escape cheat death, for example the Celestial Orrery has literally the capababilty to delete suns.. no joke, they literally have the power to end life with the switch of a button but they dont because they view themselves as gardeners.. so there is a nuance, they are certainly arrogant and selfish towards themselves and have made very terrible decisions indeed, although i like to think Necrons like Silent King maybe even trazyn to an extent have grown more worldly over time and see the larger problem that being Chaos and the Tyranids... infact we know atleast The Silent King has in this regard he seems pretty awesome tbh.

As for Ferus’s hands, that information could have been naturally discovered and named by baseline humans or the mechanicus.
I suppose the silent king wouldn't need to lie, because he could quite easily deal with the tyrannds, or maybe I'm just bias for the necrons :p
I dont know much of the silent kings lore. But I like to imagine hes the type of character who you could last 1000 different things to call him, but loar would not be one. Course like I said im not sure if he has actually lied before
thats fascinating and raises whole other levels of interest... Could the Silent King actually be interested in something Sanguinius may have discussed with him... like restoring the Necrontyr to true life? and restoring thier true civilization? Promises that his father might look into it for them. Maybe thats why the necrons havent awaken in full force. because the Silent King is interested in the offer to save his people. Something no other race offered them but the humans, the strange little survivors from the war in the heavens... did. and seemed to have grown the power to actually do so.

Tbf though it really does seem like the silent king would be looking to make peace over war. All he wants for his people is to be reborn and while he might do some horrific things to make that goal a reality it is ultimately for the betterment of his people. At least thats how i always saw him

@@mrwhat5094 well I don't know what being "that guy" means in this situation other maybe "that guy" you don't agree with, but let look at this logically and reasonably.
The Silent King is 1st off a fictional character and any realistic reason for why he wouldn't lie, may not apply.
2nd you say he has no need to lie. How do you what all his needs are? Have all his needs been revealed in all of 40k literature, if not, you can't accurately come to the conclusion of what is needs are.
3rd... the nature of lies indicates a possible agenda that is meant to be unknown maybe even to the reader.
4th... you mention that he has been around for a long time. Time itself does not determine if someone would lie or not. The 2 things don't really interconnect. Time vs. Lying. Not sure how you are making or coming to that conclusion or why you think that just because someone or something that has been around for a long time will not lie... especially a fictional character.
5th humans are primitive? Ok. Again this also doesn't determine the wherewithal of truthfulness in someone else or not. If you want back in time there could be a million reasons as to why you would lie to a cave man. Basically because a species or person is primitive doesn't mean you won't lie to that person or species. As a matter of fact if you consider you so much higher than a person or species you may not feel that personnor species is worthy or worth telling the truth to. You may feel they are too primitive to handle or comprehend the truth.
Lastly my comment follows a basic philosophical principle of skepticism that "if somethings seems too good to be true it probably is" as well as "the more improbable something seems, the less possible it is". Alot of the possible interactions between the silent king and sanguinious simply don't seem probable. Such an encounter between the two would be so momentous that Sanguinous would not have kept it a secret from the emperor or his brothers. Such covert behavior doesn't seem to fit his fictional character. Also it seems less likely to occur during the silent kings self imposed exiled. It is suggested throughout the lore that the silent king returned secretly to the galaxy towards the end of the 41st millennium and revealed himself during the now 42nd millennium. Not that it isn't possible but very unlikely that he was meeting any primary during 30k. When you take the entire scope of what was going on during 30k, the likelihood of this doesn't seem true.

Second, how do we know he needs to lie?
Third, what ulterior motive would the Silent King have considering its explicitly stated his main motivations for literally contacting the different races at this point is due solely on the realisation of the Tyranid threat?
Fourth, time can certainly relevancy in this because of this particular individual's experience with literally the Deceiver quite literally effected him and his people, the description is on the box mate. Everything that has made the Silent King partake in the actions after the War in Heaven is solely because of lying. His exile was because of what? Food for thought.
