- Hello! Welcome to the second video of the completion of this piece. Last week I showed you how to complete a realistic bokeh background, but today I'll be showing how I completed the colouring of the robin and the branch, with particular emphasis on how I create realistic looking feathers.
A lot of the techniques I used for the feathers can also be used for fur too!

Claudia, this drawing is beautiful. Thank you very much for sharing your technique. I would like to ask you to consider including some real time segments in your future videos as I would find very helpful to see your stokes in closer detail in critical areas such as the eyes and prominent feathers. Ken
awww your little robin is so cute
sacredlotus Thank you :D
Wow! Thank you❤️🦋
Thanks for this video. I am doing a colored pencil piece of an owl right now and halfway in to it was feeling very bored and discouraged to go any further. Watching your video gave me has given me motivation to finish it!
That's so awesome to hear! Thank you very much for watching and commenting, I wish you the best of luck with your owl :)

Loved the work could you work a little slower as you do a part of the feather please
Lovely!
Thank you :)
Gorgeous robin, thanks for another great tutorial. I would love to see more tutorials where you incorporate how you identify the colours you see in a reference photo and then chose pencil colours based on that as I sometimes struggle with that. Also can you tell me if it’s because you use pastelmat that you’re able to layer light over dark as I thought with coloured pencils that it was really difficult to do?
I answer both of your questions in my latest video! :D th-cam.com/video/cx_-dPsrJok/w-d-xo.html
But a little extra info about colour picking. Colour picking (and being confident in it) is definitely something that improves with practice. I'm not too critical with my colour choices as I'll alter and change it as I need to. Having your reference open on a computer in a simple photo editor like paint is really helpful. Then, if you can't tell what colour an area is, you can use the colour picker/eye dropper tool to click an area to see the exact colour. I give other tips for colour picking in the video I linked. :)
Claudia Sketches, thanks I’ll watch that one again, sorry to bother you
Sarah Swanson You're not a bother! I encourage question asking. I will point to videos when I think it would be helpful though because I can then give a much more detailed answer :)
Can you help? I am using prismacolor pencils and rubbing alcohol to blend but can’t seem to go over top with white. It won’t show up! Trying to do feather strokes on a bird. Any tips? Thank you!
Thank you :)
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
This is a great video! Thanks for sharing. I’d like to see you review the caran d’ache pablo pencils, would you ever consider it sometime in the future?
You're lucky that I just bought a set! So there will be a review in the future :)
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Claudia Sketches oh excellent, can’t wait!
Hello so early
Also first 😂
Congrats :P
Helpful and fun to watch tips!
Thank you very much! :)
Great video, how do you get the light colours to show over the darker ones though? 😮
That's the benefit of pastelmat and abrasive papers in general :) If you're not using an abrasive surface, you could try using a workable fixative for a similar effect.
Lol
