I want to buy a second-hand USM35. Do you have any recommendations?

Question Joe, We have a USM 58 which is very similar to the one used in your video. I have set up a file for a delay tip just like the one you demonstrated. I am now trying to calibrate for thin material (0.050") using a pencil tip delay line but am having issues getting a clear screen to even begin calibrating. Can you give any suggestions for calibrating a tapered pencil tip style delay line for very thin material? Thanks

    Excellent Joe!
I have a problem with same model, the keys blocked ocasionaly, only work the on/off key.
i have to put off the batery and insert again and the keys work a seconds and block again, i've tried reset but have the same problen. Do you have the same problem?

Hello sir,is it possible that delay line reapeat echo coincide with second or any other echo of steel Thickness.?

Hi Joe I’m using Epoch 650 use delay line probe. What velocity in m/s. Where i use this probe?

Question Joe, We have a USN 15 AF, but the process is the same. I have try set up a calibration with a delay tip just like the one you demonstrated, but for measure very thin material (betwen 1mm and 3 mm). The problem is the first echo, from 1mm is very close to the delay line, and if I adjust settings for separate more the signals, I loose the signal from 3 mm, so is impossible view de two signals at same screen, eg without changes the settings. When you use the measure mode Sa in this case, wich is tthe begining of the measure? Is in the signal from the delay line or from the Initial Pulse (IP)? I asked because I think Sa is betwen IP and the gate, wich is not very stable and acuracy mesure, is not the same of use two consecutive echos.. I´m right or wrong? Can you give any suggestions for calibrating a probel tip style delay line for very thin material? Thanks you very much.

Mario, sorry for the delay here, I don't know if you have had a chance to play with this, however what I typically do on thinner materials is to change the rectification signals from FW to HW+ or HW- so I can figure out which particular signal I am looking at. Once you get around the 1 - 5mm thickness this is the best way that I can distinguish the signals.Hope that helps, please let me know if you need more help. If you could get a taller delay it would help as well.

    Dear Joe
Could you please share a video on which you illustrate and explain the way I can calibrate this machine?

How can I calculate the amplitude of the reflected wave ?
Is it from Sa and Ha ?

Yannapol, the amplitude of the reflected wave come directly from the amplitude that you would read off of the screen. If you have a signal that is showing up at about 80% screen height, then you would see that as the amplitude.Hope that helps!Joe
