      Hi Ride Now. Where to put the o-ring that comes with your tubes has become a great mystery with lots of confusion. In one TH-cam video, a representative of RideNow said that the o-ring should be installed on the OUTSIDE of the rim (where you CAN see it). In other videos, RideNow representatives have said the o-ring should be installed on the INSIDE of the rim (where it would be hidden) to protect the tube. 🤔 I don't recall the instructions that came with my RideNow TPU tubes specifying how the o-rings should be installed. But if these o-rings serve an important purpose, RideNow would serve their customers well by being clear how they should be used. Thank you.

    I have just ridden them this weekend (31grams) and they have held air well (88psi Front / 95psi Rear). After a week on the wall hook, I measured their pressure (55psi front/58 psi rear). Considering the weeklong pressure degradation, I find them acceptable and afterall, we need to pump up the tyres before any ride so its all good for them.
    One thing I added was the teflon plumber tape around the air valve shank to prevent rattle around the rim hole like how I prepped for tubular tyres.

    Last time I pinch flatted was 2006, hard hit to pothole. In June of this year, I installed Tubolito's with my GP5000's for the first time. On my 2nd ride, I pinch flatted after hitting a 2" rock with the rear wheel. I replaced the pinched tube with a new Tubolito on the road and it got me home. My fault....I said. So decide to keep riding them. A few days later, I decide to install a new rear tire. So I removed the old GP5000 and installed a new GP5000 (no tire levers used) with the Tubolito that was in the wheel. Later that evening I checked the pressure on the rear and it felt low, so I pumped it up some more. Next morning, soon as I got up prior to the group ride I checked again, and it was down to about 50 psi from 90. Changed it out for Conti butyl. I ride 8,000-10,000 miles a year and have for 20 years or so. I flat once every couple of years and am very proficient at changing tires and tubes, I also use Shimano tire talc for all my tubes/tires. I also have used Latex tubes for years on one set of wheels.
    So,....my experience, though short, was not confidence inspiring. So I am back to Conti Race Lites. A little heavier, but I feel better about them.

      Motorcycles/cars have used and proven tubeless works for a Long time now. Tubes suck in thorny areas; I've Far less flats from evil Goat-heads than i did with tubes regardless of what tire-liner i used. Tubes are something you pack if you get something the tire sealant can't handle. Also, for MTB use (Esp.), tubeless über alles(!). Better traction, tire quality, and you can run lower tire pressures safer (just don't be silly low on the p.s.i....). I'd imagine tubeless road tires have superior feel/traction too. Lastly, tubeless is easier to fix; plug in your bacon-strip, spin the tire, reinflate the tire, and you're good to go. [Just get a pump that can also seat the bead in addition to inflating it.]. Don't allow yourself to get too deep in retro-grouchery, taking the concept to extremes makes one look like a closed-minded, calcified old geezer...

      @TheExplodingCore ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bartmullin8018 but when u end up having a puncture not immediately sealed and you have to insert a tube it's a big mess and chances are that some thorns or similar still stuck in the tire will immediately puncture your spare tube so u have to be super careful and thorough checking the tire. It's just a big pita. I didn't like it.

    Hi Joe, been using the Pirelli and Schwalbe for about a year. Several bikes, tires, and wheel combinations. All very good, I can’t tell the difference between latex and these as far as ride quality. They are superior in 2 important areas. First super easy to install, pop right in. Also if you do puncture they deflate much slower than either latex or butyl. So today I ordered the Ride Now.
    BTW I bought the Elves frame based on your video a couple years ago now on my second one. Thanks for your videos. Steve

      If you do puncture they deflate slower than other types of tubes? How in the World does that even make sense? A hole is a hole and air is going to escape at the same rate for a given size hole no matter is it's plastic, latex, or rubber.

      Where to put that o-ring has become a great mystery with lots of confusion. I just came from another TH-cam video where in the comments a representative of RideNow said that the o-ring should be installed on the OUTSIDE of the rim (where you can see it). Other places have RideNow representatives saying the o-ring should be installed on the INSIDE of the rim (where it would be hidden). 🤔 I don't recall the instructions that came with my RideNow TPU tubes specifying how the o-rings should be installed. But if these o-rings serve an important purpose, RideNow would serve their customers well by being clear how they should be used.

    I remember reading that latex tubes have slightly smaller rolling resistance because it is smoother, less grippy material, so there's less resistance between tyre and the tube.... But what if you coat the TPU tube with a lube like silicon? Wouldn't that lower resistance, thus improving rolling resistance?

    The weight is irrelevant. Rotational weight is also a fallacy. 400g will make no difference at all in all any circumstance other than a hill climb event. The REAL gains in these tubes is in better rolling resistance, which WAY outstrips weight as an important factor. The second major benefit is in packing size as a spare tube in your kit.

    • @loc9588
      @loc9588 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Explain how rotational weight is a fallacy. It’s definitely noticeable anyways when you lose weight on the rims.

    • @danielakerman8241
      @danielakerman8241 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@loc9588 it’s a fallacy in the sense that it doesn’t appreciably alter overall performance (watch the linked video I sent). It can changed the perceived acceleration, but that perception, even if real, doesn’t change overall performance in any significant way. The additional kinetic energy created to “spin up” a wheel is 1) negligible and 2) stored in the system, resulting in greater maintained speed.
      Overall weight will have an effect on climbs, not on the flats. Rolling resistance generally trumps weight in both scenarios. The wattage saved by better rolling resistance will usually be greater than the wattage saved by 400g, and it will be saved constantly, not just on inclines.

    • @jiaojiaoqq
      @jiaojiaoqq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2
