Injuries were a huge part of the entire season for the Hawks. Everybody missed a lot of time. We don’t own our picks so being bad does nothing for us. Plus Alex Sarr is the perfect fit next to a player like Trae. Makes no sense to tear it down
Unless you get your picks back from the Spurs... Even with Sarr this team goes nowhere other then maybe a 2nd round exit... if they are lucky.
Also, Capela expires* after this year, so Sarr's development might be perfectly-timed. A little improvement from J Johnson is to be expected and you might just have a contender without blowing up the team trying to get another "star".
*-his CONTRACT expires. I expect him to survive the year.

Alexandre Sarr is a consensus number 1, Zaccharie Risacher is consensus number 3 - so why would Hawks draft him? Sarr is a talented big, tall frame, long wingspan and versatility on both sides of the court. Hes 7.1 with 7.5 wingspan. They say hes like Jaren Jackson Jr.

How tf is reaves, Gabe, Rui and 3 first round picks a bad package? Those 2 picks in 2029 and 2031 could actually turn out good. Rui was a 14 ppg scorer and a 42% 3 pt shooter. Reaves wasn’t shooting the ball well in the Denver series, but was defending Murray very well. Reaves is overall a good shooter and playmaker who scores 16 ppg. Ur saying it’s a bad package, but the Cavs got sexton and Lauri for Spida and were at the same level reaves and rui are today (bad defenders, decent offensive role players).
Spurs fans, like myself, would rather hang on to this year’s two lottery picks and all those picks y’all gave us for Dejounte Murray.
Besides giving a fist full of picks, we would inherit Young’s inflated contract. Young is good, but not worth all that draft capital.

1. The new officiating rules that allow more physicality doesn't favor the smaller player that was already inefficient. That's a hard sell if you are in the spurs front office. 2. Trae is not a pop type of player (flashy, whiny, inefficient). 3. $50m is just too much for a one sided player.

If Atlanta REALLY looks around they will find players who can make an impact IF they look around the G league and beyond they can build a solid team but like many teams in the NBA they tend to look ONLY in the NBA. The Lakers have that same problem I've been said that they need a big man No big men cause AD gets knocked around in the middle way too much. They have people they could've snatched up like ATL but refused to get them so they basically disappeared.
People that havent looked closely think draft position is so important. Besides the 1st vs 2nd pick the rest are more even with respect to success. Its far more important to pick the right player than to pick the first player.

Man this draft is gonna be impossible to guess because of one thing... Bronny James. The guarenteed first pick to draft Bronny means whoever gets him also gets LeBron James. At that point it isn't about building a team at all. It's about the T-shirt sales, the tickets sold to the game, the free publicity you'd get from it. Also the rights to say that you were the team that paired them. The players abilities aren't always the top selling factor. This shit is gonna be wild.

As a Hawks fan I would like to run it back one more year. Draft Sarr, trade Capela and possibly even Hunter for players best fit around Trae Young (3 & D) players. Sarr and DJ should carry the defensive workload enough. If we play bad next year so be it and we trade either or star guards.

No superstar is gonna save this team, so dont chase for KD or Lebron. Invest in the talent of JJ and OO, they're gonna be our future and Quinn can work out the rest.
