It wasn't long ago you were trying your best to get out there. You have time on your side, explore options and give it another go. I speak from experience, i'm 35 and travel to Japan every year. The experiences a guy can have over there are amazing, it's a brilliant place and i'm sure you would make life long friendships along the way. I met my wife in Osaka, best thing that ever happened to me. My advise to you sir, think positively and move forward, forget the fail attempts and seek adventure 👍🏻

Thanks so much for the positive words =) Happy to hear it worked out so well for you! Although I was truly gutted at the time when Covid happened, hopefully it comes across that all the "failure" talk is a little tounge in cheek. I'm definitely aiming to be optimistic as you say and look forward to new experiences and opportunities e.g. Im visiting a friend who is currently living and teaching there later this year for the first time after I applied.

When I had my first interview, I didn’t get it. I then applied for other companies, but I was always keen on my first choice. After 3 and half years of trying different companies and bothering the first company on asking when I can get my next interview, I finally got it. Took longer than expected but I’ve been living here now for 5 years. Unfortunately for you COVID happened, but now that’s finished if I were you I would try again, and don’t worry about age, when I finally moved here I was 30. Yes I wish I came here when I first applied but there you go. Towards the end it sounds like you do still want to make it so why not.

Hey, thanks very much for commenting. Congratulations on making it out there! I imagine it's been an incredible life experience over 5 years =) To answer your question my life circumstances are a bit different from when I last applied a few years ago making moving a bit more of a challenge to balance other commitments and move away now, but maybe it's something I might revisit in the future at some point as an ALT or maybe looking for some other way to visit longer term/or explore other opportunities to go out there.
