The new Camp Nou reminds me of Luzhniki Stadium after the big renovation for 2018 World Cup.

The structure was weakening and it wasn't fit to hold any important events like a UCL final, the Olympics or the World Cup. The renovation is necessary.
As for the roof, you have to go to the stadium yourself as a fan and experience the rain, the sun and a lack of noise reverberation the fans don't want to understand why the roof is necessary as well.
