Gabe has just been spoiling us with tons of content the last few months. Absolutely incredible the amount of effort that goes behind this man’s work. What a travel machine!
I am amazed how he does it, because it looks natural, but it is really hard work. thinking about what to film, thinking about what to say, thinking about the vibe and music. beside that he is also traveling, which can cost energy. so thumbs up for the great content
@@turtletalk4905 you’re right.. as a content creator myself there’s a ton of work behind the scenes that we never see and he’s mastered it at this point, but it’s definitely draining.
This is great information if anyone is considering a vacation in the Maldives. Beware of the monsoon season and the private islands are the place to stay. Duly noted, Gabe!
Are you aware that the Maldives were hit by a tsunami, hence the devastated buildings? The locals can’t afford to rebuild many of the structures in the same way that the resort islands could do so they remain as a reminder of the horror they experienced
If it proves one thing , you can’t do it on the cheap because the inhabited small islands are not well maintained meaning beaches etc , you can’t drink Alcohol etc etc , so when I see people spending thousands on a Maldives trip you can see why now , absolutely stunning and also the locals come across very friendly . A real eye opener
100% It is worth it to pay for the private islands and the premium price during the dry season. Many of those who tried to save money going to the Maldives during the rainy season regretted it.
Adventure it is. Being able nearly constantly to re-organise everything.. survive all the stress and go on. That’s a rare skill. You’re so amazing ! Also great is your filming, and the stories. Thank you.
Yay you got your beer 🍻 what a contrast but as you say, great to experience both types of islands. Enjoy the rest of your time there - it looks beautiful!
Paradise Island seems to be an expensive resort to visit but worth-while when you consider the amenties offered which include royal cuisine, alcoholic beverages, pristine beaches(Diffushi was the polar opposite),modern and clean infrastructure andstaff to cater to your personal attention. You found what you were looking for. Good for you. Stay Safe from Toronto Canada.
7:44 "...." no kidding Gabe! Geeez! I wouldn't have given up either and it's a total mood change once you "escape" . I'm so glad you made to Paradise, the weather looks fantastic. I love rain 🌧
Gabe, thanks for saving the family and I the horrible experience of those islands. Def can say I wrote that off the list forever. There are many better options available than the pain you went thru. I hope you had a good time with the lady you met from the PI and keep the Vids coming. Rock on.
GABRIEL: Interesting story, "never give up" as they say 💪. IMHO: If hosting your family or children I can see practicality of a private resort for food, etc. HOWEVER, traveling alone I would just feel stupid blowing that money... Call me old-fashioned. Great to see your tour as it further "demystifies" the experience for us -- makes me feel even better about not blowing a small fortune ! 🙏 My suggestion - perhaps do one night at the pampering experience, but the rest for me in the local places. BTW Many of the over-water places are $1-4K night ! NO WAY 😊
An inclusive experience there looks pretty boring. We like activities and experience the local people, communicating and understanding there ways. There are lots of inclusive experience in the US. Also, seems like a real hassle just to get to the Maldives. Thanks for the video Gabriel. Very informative and has helped us with our travels. You and the Northman are our favorite vloggers.
Great video's of the Maldives. I've been to many private resorts including Meeru but also visited local island which I thoroughly enjoyed but agree that rubbish is a huge issue that could mostly be easily tidied up. All the best!
that looks fab gabe every ones idear of tropical island after all the wonderful travel content you have supplied us all with in the past so mamy weeks from the heat of the indian interior to the Himalayas, you deserve a bit of luxury and pampering and enjoy,a few beers stay safe and happy trails
Another archipelago for the books, Gabe. Watched William Taudien's videos from the Maldives who was there right before you. There's another vlogger I watch, Nick Johnson, from SoCal originally, who also has between 500-600K subscribers - he stays in the U.S. but goes into the worst as well as the best areas. He is always evolving and lately mixes walk/bike/drive-arounds (mostly drive-arounds) with interviews with local residents. Tomorrow we go to South Dakota where the prices of everything are Maldives resort-level high, go figure. Cheers, Man.
Great explanation about not doing sponsored trips. This channel has a certain "style" that wouldnt really fit that and there is already so much out there that does that sort of content. Its all about the spontaneous exploring. I prefer the "real" Maladives experience a lot more than just the luxury resorts, a lot more interesting in my opinion. And it makes that drink taste just that much better ! :D
Wow!!! Totally magic video brother. God Bless you. You are Amazing. Make a lot of people Happy just watching this, and listening to your story. Really enjoyed to see this one. All of your videos are Amazing. And you are very Special. Ok I’m a little jealous too. But I’m 78 years young. Still traveling. That water is so beautiful…. What place!!!
Interesting 🤔 just catching up after 8days in Iceland 🇮🇸…My mind is still in Iceland it’s funny how we all think of the Maldives has top destination (I’m a sunworshipper and I love tropical beach destinations like a lot of people)and yet I wouldn’t swap this last holiday for anything! Iceland is mind blowing! Im glad you are approaching Maldives in different ways it’s very interesting to see different angles of what one might experience. I have to say I was very surprised to see you’d left India to go Maldives 😮 I quite like being surprised I kinda thought you may be going to Nepal or somewhere around there! Have fun Sabrina🇫🇷🇬🇧
Totally different feeling ! I hope the weather will get better and you'll be able to enjoy this beautiful island ! Looking forward to watching your next video !
I have been to Maldives and this is not a place to go backpacking because it will cost you more in the long run. first there is no point going there during the rainy season. second to really enjoy the place go to a private island either all inclusive or full board because drinks and food are really expensive in the islands.when you have a package the transport it's included. I went for 2 weeks all inclusive and stayed in 2 different resorts, they transfer you from the island to the airport and then another boat takes you to the second island unless you go by seaplane. amazing place to relax and enjoy not during the rainy season😊
we were not bored at all, we did a lot of activities every day, scuba diving, snorkelling trips, fishing trips, sunset tours, plus in the island we have tennis, gym, squash courts, running around the island, windsurfing or just swimming so a lot to do every day if you want to.
Favour to ask of you, please: Can you please concentrate on the food you eat, a little more and tell us what is what. I love seeing what the folks eat, out here in the cyber-world, and sometimes you cannot always tell what is what even when you are looking right at it. Thanks, Gabe. Have a good one!
I had a similar experience way back in 2007 when some friends and I were traveling south east Asia. When we were in Cambodia, we discovered that a bus we were getting to laos was going via Bangkok, Thailand, to laos, 12 hours, so we decided to stay an extra day in Cambodia to get a flight laos and chill out for a day while we waited for our group to arrive, there was no way we wanted to spend 12 hours on a bus, lol. Relaxing in a nice place while traveling is definitely something everyone should do :-)
@@gladyswilliams336 hi, so essentially, we flew from Cambodia to Northern laos, short journey, instead of getting a bus that would have taken 10-12 hours.
Gabe, I have a question…when you are going to visit a country, does the airline ask you for the ticket to leave the country? I have done some traveling and bought one way tickets when visiting multiple countries but they always ask me for that ticket to leave the country. I was wondering if you get asked that too. Thanks man!
It depends on the country. An onward flight isn't required for most countries. You'll want to look online before traveling somewhere. When I searched online for the Maldives it was stated that an onward flight was required, so I booked another flight, but I was never asked about it.
Wow, that was a great story! Paradise island definitely lives up to the name by the looks of it. Kind of nicer not being high season too, not so many people in the resort. I've got to say, I'm sitting here wondering if you ever heard back with an offer from the two resorts you emailed though, did you stand a chance of getting a freebie? I was thinking, maybe as a one off here and there, you could research exclusive resorts around the world, in or near countries you happen to be travelling in and just enquire about a courtesy stay, with all your followers you might stand a chance. I get why you wouldn't want to build that into your everyday travel plans though, would make it far less spontaneous and unique. Enjoy paradise and looking forward to seeing more of the island! :)
Big difference from the other day for sure... out on the water like that you should have your own little dock for getting into the water? Definitely a paradise.
Well, at least the internet speed was better than 12Kbps! You look a bit exhausted after all the travelling you've been doing over the last 2 months through all the heat, and now the rainstorms. Hope your next location lets you relax some more.
Ahh, Pink Floyd Meddle, thus the "tripping out comment" . Gabriel, you inspire me. Been watching you for about 6 months. I just retired from being stuck in corporate mid-west. Am currently in Australia, then to Thailand and from there, I am not sure yet. Thanks you Gabriel.
Not your typical Gabriel Traveler's travel experience the luxurious one! Much deserved after your "hotel" experience in Chopta few weeks back 😁 Enjoy a beer or two finally - same here just for sympathy hehe
May I suggest Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma". Listen to the track "several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with pict". Spend at least one complete day, preferably in the bathroom with the lights off, listening to "several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with pict", over and over and over. It might help the acid flashbacks you seem to be experiencing during this video.
Gabe, this is lovely. The Kardashians stay in those "floating" bungalos, over the water. They come at a great cost, per night. But, I'll bet one can haggle, too. The background music starting at 1:01 is terrific! I admire the degree to which you can, and do, fly by the seat of your pants. Nothing much seems to faze you.
Going to Maldives in rainy and windy months is a waste of money. You can’t go to swim, snorkel, do fishing, barbecue on sandbars, dolphin or sunset cruise in such foul weather.
Not worth even thinking of going to a resort in the Maldives. It is just like couple of areas in the U.S. virgin islands which are not even worth thinking of. It is just the hype that goes around such places. Any island no matter how little in Greece is far better than such places. Going on a vacation is not just to go and be trapped on a resort just so that you can wear a swimming suit or have a drink. Not worth the time nor the money which can be spent much better in other deservant places.
What a dumb comment. It's a new mindset, a break from reality. Some people don't want to climb mountains or something like that on vacation. They want to go to a private island like this and take a breather and relax.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm happy to have watched this but it was like a kind of upscale seniors home or something. Just not to my taste, but we are all different :)

Exactly. Also why it's important to not have your accommodation booked too far in advance, then you're locked in.
