You don't often get the chance in every day life to stand back and appreciate your surroundings so it's nice to take time for a 'walk' around here. I have noticed a lot of the architecture we have before. Just needs cleaning up a bit, and maybe get rid of a few post war breeze blocks. I think a lot of people would be surprised how nice Oldham can look. I've lived in Chadderton, Oldham all my 47 years and it has more to offer than some locals appreciate I think, I'm on a Facebook group for Oldham (Made In Oldham) would it be ok to share this?
Good video, thanks for sharing. I also shoot landscape videos in Germany and sometimes abroad. Subscribed to the channel, looking forward to it. Thanks for the nice and helpful video
Loved this! Born in Oldham, raised in Chadderton, but now I live down in Birmingham for a job I took last year, and starting to miss home. Even that tram you see at the start towards Shaw is the one I used to get to work, or just one stop further in the opposite direction you walked in would drop you off near me dad's. Thanks for the video :))
My ancestor, many times grandfather was born and raised in Oldham Lancashire before he came to America. Not sure what year but his name was Patrick Henley. I'd love to visit someday.
I live in South Manchester only about a twenty minute drive away. From my (admittedly few) visits to the outskirts of Oldham I tended to rank it the least attractive of the towns around Manchester - Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne etc. This video has completely changed my perception of the place. I echo Sarribel's comment: it seems clean, vibrant and attractive with picturesque vistas looking towards the parish church. Thank you for opening my eyes here!
i live in oldham for over 50 years ...belive me it not wot it was personly it die a death look nice but outside the centre like glocwick/fitton hill ,alts ,shover which are run down
This has been fairly skillfully filmed so that doesn't really emphasize just how grotty, shabby and run down, "The Mumps Rust Belt," actually is with rusting planters and Street Life Furniture all full of garbage, weeds and dead or dying shrubs, boarded up buildings and empty lots, litter and fly tipping everywhere or the graffiti and a cycle hub that was until recently being used by homeless people to doss in or the car park surrounded an area overgrown by weeds and full of people's discarded debris, etc. Anyone who actually gets of the tram and spends twenty minutes or so walking through and around the area will see a very different picture to the one in the video and frankly it's pretty nasty and quite unpleasant.
Oldham needs sorting out I think anywhere is better than here really unless things change which I doubt it will the council think they’re improving it by doing whatever they’re doing in spindles but its rubbish
A friend of mine comes from a village near Oldham, so I was curious. I am surpised by two things: how lovely the town is and how many old people it has. The majority of the population is well beyond 70. A large part of the few young people I saw were either Middle-Eastern or black. Very soon the British population will be completely replaced.

Hey, thanks!
Did you see the gesture from the bloke getting off the tram at the start, was it intentionally left in the video?

So much maligned Oldham turns out to be pleasant, spotless, Busy and dotted with plenty of beautiful Victorian buildings.... thanks
Exactly! And there are many northern towns like this that get put down by people who haven't even been anywhere near them!
