    Thank you for sharing your practice with us. Painting is where I find peace and is through my practice I have found it is the only way to quieten my mind. Painting is a true mindfulness practice for me and is the primary way for me to cope with the chronic neurological pain condition I have. It is difficult for others to understand just how important a mindfulness practice is when you live with chronic pain and you sharing your practice helps bring awareness of the importance of mindfulness and it’s power for health - regardless of if a person is living with pain or not.
    Best wishes to you Kateri and those you hold dearest.
    Jade

      Hi Jade. First, I am sorry you live with chronic pain. But I am very grateful that you have a practice that helps you cope. I understand this :). Much love and healing to you. ❤️❤️❤️

      Hi Jade, I TOTALLY agree with you on both painting and mindfulness. I got into art due to mental health issues and painting is what gives me joy. It’s lifted me out of deep depression, helped me with my PTSD. Of course, like you, these things can still “catch up on you” but we’ve got a coping mechanism, and a beautiful one at that! Wishing you all the best.

    Thank you for sharing all the elements of your daily practice. After I began drawing daily, I noticed that my mind would quiet as I drew and I would lose track of time. I had achieved the meditative state that had always eluded me when I tried traditional sitting meditation!

      When I am in the midst of drawing or painting, time can stand still. I can pass hours without being aware of time. It’s the best feeling. I’m so glad you have that, too ❤️❤️✨

    This was wonderful. Thank you for sharing, and inviting us into your practice. I watch in the morning, sometimes actually make it for the real time video, sometimes a few minutes later. I was wondering why you used the teapot and the bowls. We are creating a community of meditative practices, and you are right, we will all evolve and make our practices reflective of our own lives and journeys. Blessed day Kateri

      Maureen Gaffney if you watch the video she explains the use of the teapot and bowls.

      Hi Maureen! Thank you for watching :) I use the teapot and tiny vessels for aesthetic reasons. I love the ritual of it, and I love the presence of them on my table. :)

      Kateri Ewing I appreciate your response. I was a bit clumsy in my post. My “wondering” was in reference to the Morning live session on Instagram. While I was watching I was wishing that there was an explanation for the process you followed. I was so happy to see the Dandelion Lesson with the full discussion. And I responded as soon as I watched the Lesson and in my enthusiasm was not very articulate. :-)

    For me, it is playing Taijiquan, as sitting meditation escapes me. It is more of an evening practice, though. A watercolor meditation practice looks to be a lovely way to start a day, thank you for sharing.

      I don't know what Taijiquan is! I will look it up :)

    • @elledechenestudio
      @elledechenestudio 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many people call it T'ai chi ch'üan, but the pinyin way of spelling it is "taijiquan", which is what the head of the system I play uses. You probably recognize is by its shorter name, "tai chi", en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tai_chi. It has been called meditation in motion.

      Laura Hinsley I have no idea! 😬 it’s in Chinese and I bought it at an art supply store about four years ago. It’s my favourite and it’s getting a little worn out. I’m sad I can’t replace it.

    Have you ever tried starting in the back of your book and paint on the left side of the page? I have always found that when I pick up a book I instinctively go to the back and thumb through to the front. I don't know why. I write and paint with my left hand but I am not left handed.

    • @kateriewing
      @kateriewing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How fascinating! You must be ambidextrous! And no I have never tried that! ✨

    • @alexisdunstan3944
      @alexisdunstan3944 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, not ambidextrous but dyslexic, but in this case I was thinking more in terms with how books are printed and red in Japan.

      Alexis Dunstan my husband teaches English at a school for dyslexic high schoolers. I’ve never heard that before, using your opposite hand. If it works, do it, right? And yes, true about Japanese books :) I’ve never tried it.

      Things have progressed tremendously since I was of school age. I am now 74. I was placed in a class for "slow learners" in elementary school. I had not even heard the word dyslexic until about 30 years ago.I have often wished there was more knowledge about dyslexia back then but it is heartening to know that students now get the type of instruction they need. Give your husband a big thank you from me for the wonderful work he is doing. For myself I learned how to take instructions and convert them to something I could understand. I managed to complete grade 12 and in that era that was considered as much formal education as girl needed, especially among the middle class. The one area I still have trouble with is languages but I get by. It took a long time but I now love reading. Isn't life interesting and how our paths cross?Thank you for your TH-cam lessons, your presentation is relaxing with no pressure - a true treasure to watch.

      I had Doterra too. In fact I think this bottle was Doterra and I repurposed it to decant a small amount from a larger bottle.
