I love seeing your adventures. I started watching your videos a few years back and have hunted Montana the last 2 years. I took my first Elk with a bow this past September. Your videos inspire me to hunt hard and smart. Most importantly to enjoy the hunt. We never know when it may be our last one. Take it from me, life is fragile. I survived stage 4 cancer in 2007.
As I get older, I appreciate so much more the tradition of hunts. Every time I go hunting where I started out as a young kid, the memories always come back. It's nice to have places like that, places that we can pass to our kids and grandkids. Great job on the video.
First time watching your show, its awesome, been hunting now for five years, I've gone with my sons and will be taking one of them on his 1st in a couple of weeks. Your show takes me back to those feelings and emotions every time I go. Incredible. Thx Jason.
Great video ,I'm heading to montana in the missouri breaks in November for my first western muley hunt and I can't wait it's been my life long dream to see the west ,,,words cannot describe my excitement.
I second that opinion on his talent for filmmaking. the background music really sets it off .... very good choice of background music, a very good choice . you're very blessed , very blessed indeed will look forward to more of your videos
No better hunting videos and quality and goosebumps when watching than yours. We would miss school to hunt with our dad too. Thank you for sharing your story the way you do. Don’t stop.
Another great video! Jason I just watched the Prime video about you and found it very interesting. Your comments on the music for your video's resonated with me . That is certainly one of the elements that draws me to your video's. I'm so tired of the heavy metal head banging music that is so often used in productions from others. The music selections that you use certainly enhance the experience that I so enjoy. Please don't change what you do. All the best to you and I'm looking forward to the next episode
Jason it was good to shake your hand at the hunt expo in Salt Lake City. Like I said in passing, keep up the good work, I love your style of filmmaking! Thanks again. Bryce Nelson
Super cool video! Love that country too. Used to hunt Eastern Montana until FWP doubled the price of a tag around 2008 or so. Priced this Non Res outta the market! Miss it! Congrats on a GREAT buck and awesome video!
An exceptional video. Perhaps the best I've seen and I've seen a lot of them. Great videography, great taste in music and the country beyond beautiful. The deer? Absolutely phenomenal. The entire thing just very nicely done.. A first time Montana hunter this fall. I'll start in the early part of the bow season and end who knows when. This presentation have maybe pushed me into doing some mid-summer scouting. It's a good thing you didn't reveal the location - because if you had I'd throw ethics out the window and I'd be there. Nice job.
Cool Buck there Jason, congrats! Currently in the process of planning my 2019 MT Deer hunt with a few buddies. Can't wait to come home to MT....love that place!
Hey matt, wondering if this is anywhere near bone trail in the missouri break of montana? If so, we have has ALOT of history with this buck. Last time we saw him was 5-6 years ago, and we are pretty possitive that that is the buck we call tri-pod! Congrats on such a magnificent trophy!
Come on man. The amazing hunter and sportsman you are......you should know we don’t count eye guards on mule deer lol. What an amazing amazing once in a lifetime animal! Keep up the good work!
Where I come from we always have? Plus any point on a deer counts for B&C or P&Y if its over an inch. Come on man, get with the program! Haha Thank you for tuning in!
@@jasonmatzingerofficial I know it counts for score. I guess it’s just how you were taught. Everyone I’ve ever hunted mule deer with has called a four point frame plus eye guards a “four point.” Can’t be getting mixed up with these whitetail guys lol. Love the vids and your true passion for hunting. Some of us can truly relate to how you feel about the land and these animals. We really are very lucky. Keep up the awesome work!
You have a nice unhurried way of speaking...a way of speaking that seems to say that you are also a listener, a listener to other people and a listener to nature. Nice patient hunt. Shooting from prone is smartest. Well done.

Matzinger from Bozeman? Same private ground you guys have had leased or owned for how many years now? All that public land that is landlocked? Just wondering.
Correct! Matzinger from Bozeman. Dad used to own ground in the Breaks about 20 years ago but we sold it when my mom got cancer. Nothing is landlocked no.
@@jasonmatzingerofficial Gotcha. Your personality in your videos as I don’t know you personally is definitely one of the best out there. We met a long time ago thru J Nelson, we worked together. Much rather watch you than Newberg. Part of that is I know you are born and raised. Big deal to me. You have done well over the years, good to see that.
What part of Montana or unit are u hunting and how far out are u from the closest town I would love to take this trip but i have to be able to stay here I can get to medical help Wright away in the evenings
Jason Were you hunting on private or public land, if public not to many people around to scare the animals out of your favorite area. The deer density for this area has to be pretty high with the many animals you were able to video. The quality of your video is excellent and the narration is well done and to top it off you shot a great trophy, never have seen a double main beam buck, has to be quite rare.
Amazing buck and great hunt. I would just add, though I do understand it is an incredible buck and that is the shot it gave, you are NOT supposed to shoot on the skyline like that ever. I have family here that has had bullets hit their boat, and bullets whiz by their heads from dudes doing that. You never know what is on the other side of that ridge, perhaps another group of hunters, and it could very easily turn into the worst day of your and their life by doing so. It is something every hunter here in MT is usually taught from childhood.
Although it may have appeared so on film, it was actually not. I knew very well what was behind my target and beyond. I believe I even stated that in the narration?
No one ever knows what's beyond the ridgeline, and saying you do just doesn't make it so, does it? I mean it was probably private land, and you were told no one else was supposed to be there, but did you check before the shot? People wander onto private land all the time. @@jasonmatzingerofficial
Nice buck but only one concern... You shot at the top of the Ridge and didn't know what was on the other side. One of the basic rules in hunter safety... Know your target and what's beyond.
Michael I figured someone would bring this up as it does appear we couldn’t see the other side. Reality was between the stalk and the terrain we had complete confidence in what was on the other side or I wouldn’t have taken the shot. Appreciate your awareness in keeping it safe out there. 🤙🏻
@@jasonmatzingerofficial thanks for replying to my concern. I've just seen a lot of people shoot without knowing what's beyond their target. That's one of the reasons I usually only hunt on private or draw only areas. Less people to worry about. I was born and raised in Cut Bank, MT and had access to a couple huge farms and ranches in the Maria's River breaks and the Sweet Grass Hills. I was kind of spoiled when I moved to Wyoming. Now if I don't draw a special permit I usually don't go hunting because we may not have a big population but 90% of them hunt plus we get a lot of out of staters and it gets worse every year.
No one describes the hunt better than, Jason. Love his work!

What type of rifle sling are you using?
It is called the Gun Bearer and is made by Kifaru.
I think what you needed to do, is put the deer about 4 inches from the camera and then go sit about a mile away... it makes em look bigger that way!!
