- I mended this jacket with Sashiko stitches - a Japanese way of embroidery. The patterns I used here are: hitomezashi rice flower stitches and the diamond blue sea wave.

That is something else. When anyone saw this jacket, they would think it cost thousands.
I am chilling out so much to this. Lovely.
Thank you Katia! I'm very happy that you like it. :)
I love your video demo. It is delightful to see sashiko finding a forever home. ☘️👍
Thank you so much Angela!
Wow, beautiful mending. I can see using your technique in many of my mending projects. Thank you for sharing with us. Have a blessed day.
Thanks! Happy mending !
So beautiful and simple stitches yet stunning results, I have so much to learn
Glad you like them!
Lovely, thank you for showing all the preparatory steps before attaching the patches...and for the shot of your deer friends at the end :)
Thank you Katherine! I'm happy to know that it helps! And yeah, the deers come to our window every morning, I only hope they don't eat my veggies in the summer. :)
Beautiful mend and wonderfully made video. Such a calm and relaxing but interesting presentation. Surely, a reflection of your personality.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful demonstration.
Thank you Pam!
such a beautiful and calming video 😍
I am fast falling in love with this type of mending and what it teaches us about how we should care for and love our clothing and homewares. My friend (dog) has chewed through the top layer of his bed. I am totally going to make a pretty patch for him and me to enjoy. what I like is that I can creat the patch before I even have to sew it onto the bed, so for him, there is no downtime.
Thank you! This is always the best thing I want hear - people start thinking about mending items instead of buying new ones! and treasure what they have at the moment! Thank you so much for telling me this!
@@XiaoxiaoYarn you're very welcome. I have started prepping some old jeans already .
Simply beautiful.
Wow! This is fantastic !
So beautiful !!!!!!
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you for your videos, they are so professional and beautiful. Also helpful. :) Made my day! Nora
Wow. Thanks a lot for letting me know Nora. I'm really happy that you liked them. :)
I really like this one! It seems to work in a way which emphasises the sashiko pattern but in quite a precise end result, where you can really appreciate the graphic element. My background is graphics and illustration, so this appeals to me especially.
Thank you Tom! So happy you liked it!
Beautiful work

Hello! 🙋🏻♀️ I’m wondering if you would use this method for a fine woollen jumper or would you recommend another method instead? ☮️💟
Hi! Sashiko isn't ideal for fine wool. For your jumper, I'd recommend darning instead. It's gentler on wool fibers and blends better. Try looking up some darning tutorials for wool garments online. They'll guide you through repairing your jumper while preserving its softness.

isn't doing it that way defeating the point of all those strong stitches? If you stitch through you'll actually reinforce the garment. Why do it this way?
Hi, the piece I mended is a very thick winter jacket. So I chose to add patches instead of sewing them together. Also, we live in a cold country, and we clean our winter jackets every season or even longer. :)
