the road trip is amazing, UAE is so generous plus that Arab traditional are amazing .. even the nature is so generous.. the picnic is good too... you enjoyed much .. even the camping is a brilliant adventure.
It really is! Thank you for the kind words! We love the UAE. From the beautiful cities, the gorgeous beaches, to the mountains, there is so much here to explore!
So great you are doing all this real adventuring with kids. It gives me hope that IF we have kids, we wouldn't be stuck with limited travel option. The camping looks great. Nice to see the drive too with the small villages and rural life. Amazing mountains.
So cool, guys. Thank you. If you have kids, I know you will keep traveling to amazing destinations! In fact, I love watching your channel for slight off the beaten track places to take the kids! 😆
Yes, great job! The mountains look most excellent. I love seeing regions of the UAE that don’t look like Dubai. Quite lovely! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Another gem of a video. Beautiful route I have to say. And those kids are just gorgeous. By the way, that wee blue camper cooker, they are the best aren't they? We have two of them. Great for outdoors cooking. Stay safe and journey on! ❤️🌷👋
The frog was definitely a surprise! It provided quite a bit of entertainment for us. Thanks for the kind words about the video. I think my editing is starting to slowly get better! 😆
Wow nice tour and camping, thanks for sharing and keep it up. I hope to see you around. By the way my friend I have suggestion for you, try to visit Philippines and features all beautiful islands in your vlog and you will get full support from them as some foreigner usually do to grow up their channel.
Awesome! the Philippines is definitely on our list, we would love to explore that beautiful country once we can all travel safely again:-) If you have suggestions of places to explore, foods we must try, and things to experience we would love to hear them:-)
Actually, we live and work overseas! Kelly and I are certified school teachers working in accredited K-12 international schools. International teaching is a great way to visit and live in awesome locations! We do most of our "new country" travels based around the typical fall, winter, spring, and summer school breaks. Already living overseas, gives us a great launchpad for adventure! :-)
Frogs in a desert?! Is there water nearby? This is an interesting experience. Is the mobile reception there okay? I would worry about getting lost in the desert.
We actually camped on the wadi. Although dry that time of year, the wadi is often full of water. Flash floods can happen quickly and without warning, which is why it's always a little sketchy to camp in the wadi bed. We had good cell coverage and did carry the guide book. :-)
Hi, Im glad to find your travelog and get inspired with what you are doing. Im staying in uae and planning ahead for the upcoming winter. Would you mind to share your experience with the CRV AWD that you use for traveling in uae? Did you use it at the desert and any problem with it?
Thanks so much! The UAE is a great place for camping. The CRV was very functional for us. We didn’t use it for “extreme” desert crossing, but it worked very well on hard pack desert sand. This two other videos might give you help: th-cam.com/video/HiUmLjmIEEY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/0lTpOmQb2qY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks! It took us a while to get started with desert camping, but once we started we didn’t want to stop. Our kids loved just running around and exploring. We didn’t see any poisonous reptiles. We only saw that cute little frog. I’m sure that our kids running around probably scared off much of the wildlife. So, no worries there!
We do a toiletry kit- toilet paper, wipes, hand sanitizer, and bags. We always pack out our waste in bags (we don’t want to leave used tissue paper for sanitation reasons and it could wildlife). I hope that is helpful!
Great questions! :-) I would NOT count on finding wood in the wadi Shawka area. We purchased our firewood at the gas station on the way. On the weekends, there’s usually firewood venders that sell wood off the road side. Good luck and enjoy the camping!
Thanks for reaching out! We were inexperienced drivers, as well! And, we only have a Honda CRV (so no 4x4). This route was perfection that! It was dry when we went, so we didn’t have to cross through water. We used the UAE Off-road book, which has all the maps, routes, gps coordinates, and helpful information about each site. Have fun!!!
Thank you for watching! Yes, you can do a barbecue. There are no bbq amenities, so be sure to bring your own supplies. I hope you enjoy this great trip! 👍
We like the many colors at the fruit stand--bet whatever you got was so fresh tasting! "Coffee for the kids...YES!" LOL 😂 April wants to know if your wife has a pee funnel like she does for times like these...? 😎 Fun to see the camel
The fruits stand guys are pretty fun to talk with, and they're all about the free samples. I definitely think Cedar thought she was getting some coffee that evening. Big fans of the funnel over here. 😆
Hi Ananya. With roadside vendors in the UAE, there are no set prices. Negotiating is an expected part of the process. I’d highly recommend supporting the roadside vendors. The guy we bought fruit from told us some cool stories during the process of the purchase. 👍
Be sure to check out all the videos from our UAE playlist! 🇦🇪

Hey, is it absolutly safe to stay over night in Wadi Shawka? No danger of crime or animals?

Hi, thank you for inspiring us into camping. Did you see any poisonous reptiles around, concerned for the kids..
Also if you could please share as to how do you manage nature's calls 😅

@@BagsPackedFamily Thank you for replying, that was very kind of you.
Hey mate, thanks for the video.
Silly question but is it easy to find wood for the bonfire or did you carry your own?
Great questions! :-) I would NOT count on finding wood in the wadi Shawka area. We purchased our firewood at the gas station on the way. On the weekends, there’s usually firewood venders that sell wood off the road side. Good luck and enjoy the camping!
@@BagsPackedFamily great advise, thanks!
Hi sir, if i can have a map or a google map route to a good location that would be perfect, we are a bunch of inexperience drivers
Thanks for reaching out! We were inexperienced drivers, as well! And, we only have a Honda CRV (so no 4x4). This route was perfection that! Hahaha! Cedar is a cool name; how did y'all come up with it?
Why would you negotiate with a poor fruit vendor. Argh americans...
⁹0
Why are you negotiating with people who barely make any money? And why are you encouraging it?
Hi Ananya. With roadside vendors in the UAE, there are no set prices. Negotiating is an expected part of the process. I’d highly recommend supporting the roadside vendors. The guy we bought fruit from told us some cool stories during the process of the purchase. 👍
You are right, lets try price negotiation at the spinneys tomorrow.
