Notice they built right down onto the sand! Went through a typhoon like this in Guam, but they don't allow beach locations or tin shacks either. Some old trees blew down and the power went out, but nobody lost their homes or businesses., so our national insurance rates didn't go up.

No place for wood frame construction, need concrete block walls and poured in place concrete roof to survive hurricanes
Carriacou Roof Damage: The Roofing Sheets and in some cases the entire Roofs would perforce "fly off." I am NOT seeing WALL PLATES, that should have been BOLTED Down to the Concrete Walls/Belt Beams at the Roof Level. Then in turn, the Roof Rafters should have been firmly fixed using appropriate Twisted Metal Straps and specified length Metal Screws to Both the Wall Plate and the Rafters? Why is it, that one roof "flies off" and the one next to it remains intact? It is a clear case of Construction Methodology/Detailing! Those are Constructional Details that the Construction Supervisor has to be fully aware of inter alia. Construction Engineering is a Learnt / Acquired Skill from the Experts, and is by no means intuitive! The HAG must have Workshops on resilient Construction!

this is what happens when you forget to specifically ask not to have your roof blown off during your prayer. it's important to ask for the right things otherwise god wont know what you want. luckily, i prayed for the mess to get cleaned up tonight so this should all be fixed tomorrow
