      pretty much true, only thing tougher than a wolverine is a honey badger, those fuckers are bullet proff.
      You realize this animal isn't meant to be a pet when you see him playing and does injure the guide. gotta be tough and love the animal to not retaliate and/or keep working on that.

    To give you an idea of how mindblowing the trainer/wolverine relationship is, wolverines are one of the few (if not only) things that Grizzly Bears will run away from.
    Edit : Jesus Christ people, I know that wolverines aren't as strong as bears. I live in Montana, I've seen the widlife plenty. The point is that a predator knows that they are so aggressive that it's not worth the cost winning the fight, as such for an animal that aggressive to be so lovey-dovey with a handler blows my mind.

    I've worked in the forests of Northern BC, NWT and Yukon for almost 30 years. I've seen all these animals up close and personal. Ive come across, lonewolf, wolfpacks, one with 31 wolves. My husky came face to face with a wolf once. (they just sniffed each others parts like 2 dogs in the city would. Luckily my dog came back to me before anything happened. I've seen maybe 7 wolverines in that whole time. I've been within feet of lynx, even snuck up on a family of lynx kittens playing in a siesmic line jnc (accidently). Stood within 30 ft of 2 lynx about to get it on (got video of it on my channel) Survived 2 black bear attacks, encountered 100s of them, 99.99% they take off. I got a picture of a blackbear hanging out and grazing alongside bison. One time I made friends with a raven and he would fly within a foot of my drivers window for 20 km and eat out of my hand at 60 km/h everyday for 3 weeks. I could go on forever so i'll shut up.

When my cat bites me, enough when it is just in play, it hurts so bad, like a tiny little trap digging into my hands, :*), and wolverines are much bigger than cats and have bigger jaws. Even though this wolverine fella is clearly playing with his handler and most of them are just "love bites," it still hurts but the handler is also making his cries resemble a wolverine's to signal to the fella to stop. It's clear the wolverine is just playing around and doesn't mean any real harm, if he did, it would be a lot more clear and the wolverine would be highly more aggressive. It seems to be pretty comfortable with being around so many humans as well to where if it was scared of anyone, it would've made that very clear from the beginning. It was just far more interested in having some playtime :D.

    I saw a mated pair of wolverines once when I was hiking part of the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington, at a volcanic lake called Round Lake. I had looked up at a cliff face when I saw movement, and at first thought the cliff was much closer than it was and thought I was looking at two weasels (they pretty much are lol just ten times bigger). Then I realised that cliff was 500 yards away. It was amazing how fast they were scaling the cliff face, I've never seen anything like it. If those things wanted me dead they could probably pull it off (if I was unarmed, which I wasn't, I always carry when hiking), they are truly terrifying creatures. It's really cool to see one up close like this and so affectionate. Beautiful creatures too. I really hope their numbers bounce back, they have been pushed out of a lot of their habitat since we moved in...

    • @TheExplosiveGuy
      @TheExplosiveGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@KimKardashiUn889 It's a _gorgeous_ lake, I guarantee you will love it. There is a trailhead to PCT accessible from the Mountain Loop Highway between Darrington and Granite Falls, it's about a 6 mile hike up from there, and Round Lake is on the way to the actual PCT.
      And be aware, the trail leading down from the top of the crest into the crater is fairly treacherous, you'll want boots with excellent traction, some strap on cleats would be ideal and a good walking stick, and maybe bring a lightweight folding trench shovel in case you need to fix any bad spots. I haven't been up there in a while (a decade actually) but the last time I went the trail was about a foot wide on a 40-something degree slope of clay, it was both narrow, steep and slippery, and a fall will without exception be fatal, it goes about 300 feet down at the 40-ish degree slope then steepens even further into a cliff with large boulders at the bottom. Maybe the forest service has cut it again recently but I wouldn't count on it. Totally worth it though, the water in that lake is as clear as diamonds, and the night sky view on a clear night is amazing, the crater blocks out a lot of the glare from city lights so you can really see the milky way. And who knows, maybe you'll see my wolverine friends or their offspring lol.

It's one of the reasons seeing someone actually handle a wolverine like this is so rare. The most obvious being they're hard to find. They're real aggressive, and territorial. Meaning they attack most creatures on sight. If you're lucky it might growl or hiss at you. Thus letting you know that you have fucked up, before ripping into your leg. Truly the Wolverine whisperer truly has a gift. Which is not being mauled by his wolverines or any of his other carnivores animals.

    FOR EVERYONE WHO CAME FROM BRAVE WILDERNESS:
    This wolverine is named Jasper, and Steve has raised him from the day it was born. VICE did a great video on it. Brave Wilderness is an amazing channel, but they play up the drama for production value. Jasper is not as scary as they made him out to be. He's basically Steves dog.

    I worked for 32 years in the oil & gas patch in far northern Canada and can attest from first hand experience and knowledge that most of these so called deadly killer animals are anything but. I have fed lynx, bobcats, wolverines and foxes out my hands. I have had a lynx that loved to ride around in my pickup. Two wild animals that will be most apt to make physicl lcontact with a human are the northern cross fox and lynx. Wolverines need time to get to know a particular human's voice and accept that he/she isĺ not a threat before they will move in closer to make actual contact. I have had a wild wolverine crawl up on my lap, curl up and go to sleep. Bears can be very peaceful, but are very unpredictable at all times.

      Sophie Shi It’s our way of life in the North, one of the worlds oldest trades and forms of currency. No endangered animals are trapped and all of the animal gets used in one form or another. Beavers change the landscape by daming and flooding areas killing thousands or hectares of forest each year, eroding railways and highways. It is also part of population control. Our government would not allow us to do it if was endangering numbers. It is a dieing art and those that do it should be respected for their hard work and knowledge of nature. A trapper is more humane, kind, dedicated, and wholesome to animals and nature than you could even think of being. Dont sit their like a humble SJW animal rights activist while your food is raised is a disease filled, hormone pumped factory farms that kill on assembly lines, wash your meat in ammonia to kill ecoli and inject red dye into it to make it look healthy. Please go eat some more GMO fruits and veggie, then come back and tell us how evil and thoughtless we are.
