Honestly super underrated weapon, love the way it looks and sounds. This and the needle rifle are my favorite weapons reach added
I do like the look and sound but I often find it pretty useless in PVP, it's got too much spread so it's only any good at very close range but still struggles to keep up with other weapons and I find the plasma rifle is more consistent due to its accuracy and lack of rof drop when it's hot
@@jakebatty530not every weapon needs to be viable in PVP.
It’s a fun weapon in campaign and PVE modes, which is fine.
@dylanjwagner I mean they should really, it should have a purpose, otherwise there's not much point in having it, eg the plasma pistol does fuck all damage but it's great for stripping shields, if the plasma repeater was just a bit better at mid range like the assault rifle then it could literally be a covenant equivalent of the assault rifle

Ive always loved the repeater. It feels like a heavier plasma rifle that felt more like using something similar to the saw than just a rifle
Although I don’t really care for this weapon, I can appreciate that it appears alongside the plasma rifle instead of replacing it.
I think people would be a lot less upset with many of 343’s changes if they would stop replacing beloved designs for weapons, characters, and enemies with their own inferior versions.
this, the bulldog wouldn't be dogged on nearly as much if the pump shotgun was in infinite.
The Plasma Repeater in the campaign of *Halo: Reach* is very fun and great to use against The Covenant. I love it as much as the Needle Rifle.
This really shows how durable Spartan 3s and 2s and brutes are which is quite scary

Beyond the thermal damage.
This thing shoots hydrogen fluoride. That's absolutely terrifying and I wouldn't want to be near one ever.

What’s scary it really doesn’t even matter if it hits you are not you would still get injured and possibly get dehydrated as well even if it misses you which really shows how overpowered the halo universe is as this weapon can melt threw titanium and cook you up inside so the fact that the Spartan 3s had the endurance and pain suppression to keep fighting afterwards just shows you how scary they are specially carter and Emile as they took it the worse by a energy shield and jet plasma shot to the chest and was still operating from time to time
The fact that we get to actually see these effects in the Halo TV Series is worth noting. Unarmored humans hit with a single plasma bolt freaking _explode_ with a single hit. Gives one pause for thought every time we hear a Marine going "AH! IT BURNS!" when they get hit, because even their under-armor uniforms can reduce the effects of plasma hits... but not eliminate them. And even a hit directly to the armor plates will be felt through them.
Plasma kids... don't get hit. Not even once.
I assume there is a reason for the explosion. Maybe the liquids in a body instantly vapourising? I'm going to be very interested watching this video!
Halfway in and it's being discussed. Kinda morbid I know but I prefer the idea of burning a hole straight through , as the idea of just exploding in a mist is a tad much for me
@@ThommyofThenn Oh, that is basically the reason, because the heat those weapons put out is insane and definitely enough to vaporize the water at the point of impact, turning your own bodily fluids into a steam explosion.
Do it in the right place, or transfer enough heat, and that person is going to be turned into pieces very quickly. And that's forgetting certain heavy weapons, like the Fuel Rod gun, which are just going to turn you into pink mist wholesale.
@@palladin1337 Great response thank you. I saw a vid recently about the so called "SPNKR fuel rod" and the firing sound it had was just too mousy sounding. Even the plasma pistol sounds more tough!
@@ThommyofThenn it basically cooks you up inside even if it gets tanked by the armor platings it really doesn’t matter if it hits you are not if it’s close to you you will feel the hit off it which really shows how durable brutes and Spartan 3s are as they was able to tank a lot of these shots and still keep fighting
I love the plasma pistol, rifle, and repeater. Makes me think of Star Wars blaster weapons.
Finally, my favorite variant of the Plasma Rifle. I love using the Plasma Repeater.
I've been waiting for this the plasma repeater was my favorite reach weapon
I loved playing Halo: Reach firefight and using this with Bottomless cup ammo and cranking speed, health and damage up to maximum then just running around blasting covies. It was fun as hell.
One of my favorite Covenant weapons alongside the Needler Rifle. Halo: Reach needs more love.
I miss the Plasma Repeater. It was fun and very innovative having a manual venting feature on it. It's such a classic of Reach and it's a shame we never saw it in a Halo FPS afterwards. It may not be my favorite Plasma weapon, but I still very much like and enjoy the weapon.
I love the mythic overhaul mod, adds like almost every weapon and most sub variants into halo 3 and ODSTs sandbox, also some of the stuff is fannon but SVP3 is really tasteful about how they both make their own weapons and how they fit into the lore (brutes tended to get a mix of their own domesticly made kit mixed with older hardware (in the lore ships mostly, in the mod it includes firearms) that is also useualy modified to suit their needs, brutes are like what North Korea is to the at the time warsawpact and friends as they are to the rest of the covinent and i love it)
Most underrated Covenant weapon, IMO.
The Plasma Repeater is just a weaker version of the Storm Rifle, functionally
When I've played Reach for the first time I always refer the Plasma Repeater as a Plasma Assault Rifle since it's the Covenant equivalent to the UNSC Assault Rifle in design and operation when I first saw it.
The Plasma Rifle in Reach on the other hand resembles a Plasma Submachine Gun since it's always wielded in one hand and it could be duel-wielded up until Halo 3 like a Submachine Gun which isn't a characteristic of Assault Rifles or Rifles in general.
I wish the Plasma Repeater appeared in 343 Halo games especially in Halo 5 since they brought back the SMG which last appeared in Halo Wars 2 and the Plasma Repeater has been overlooked since it was replaced by the Storm Rifle which is a shame since you would think that we see both Plasma Repeater and Plasma Rifle being used by the Banished by now.
One of my favorite multiplayer weapons... It does double damage to health in reach and for an automatic is very accurate and has a fast TTK.
HOLY CRAP I never even thought of that!!! Plasma weapons are like Light sabers bro!!! So that makes me wonder, would it be lore accurate for blood to be ABSCENT from assults by plasma weapons? Bc like 00 said, liquids vaporize!!! WOW!!!
Love the enthusiasm and i agree it's a cool idea to imagine and I personally really enjoyed it in game.
One thing that had bugged me in earlier games was the plasma rifle seeming more analogous to an SMG, rather than a 'proper' rifle.
The manner in which the repeater is brandished makes it feel like a heavier, beefier weapon!

@@ThommyofThenn to be fair, aliens wouldn't follow the same weapon classification schemes that humans do, another example is the Covenant Carbine, carbines are normally short barreled versions of existing weapons, we have never seen the actual "Covenant Rifle" the "Covenant Carbine" is based on.
also a fun tidbit is that Plasma Repeaters are also the things that the Ghost and the Banshee use to shoot plasma bolts.
I mean for all we know the type 25 is the full length model and they might have an even shorter carbine one, that might also imply the type 51 is a SBR of something even longer :D

Would you cover the humans outside the UNSC like Venezians? Seeing all the armor patterns in infinite credited to the Venezians makes me wonder how competent independent human colonies are. Boggart armor is especially interesting: it is shielded power armor for augmented humans, manufactured with covenant tooling, independent of mjolnir. Stealing alien tech and factories to produce power armor is a level of sophistication above stealing UNSC data to bootleg mjolnir.
Would LOVE to see this weapon return with just little bloom. Love the design and sound just hated the bloom
Ever since Halo: CE, random accuracy in any form has not been my favorite mechanic.
I'd much rather have dmg falloff and multi-projectile spread that follows a pattern you can play around consistently
hands down my favorite covenant weapon ever, and it makes me so sad it was only in reach

The plasma repeater is a good weapon I prefer the Plasma Rifle since its easier and more to use and while it only appears in Halo Reach I have found ways to use it though combine it with something like a shotgun and it makes killing easier despite not having the plasma rifle on hand. just make sure to always vent it after each use .
The higher velocity projectile is the selling point in my opinion, laying rounds on your target faster just seems obvious If I had to have the plasma rifle I’d rather have the brute version with the higher cyclic rate.

Oh wow, this is the first time I've been this early for an upload
I'm not sure how humans even competed with the covenant with plasma weapons, they alone are SO strong that even a few elites should be able to score many many kills on humans
Imagine getting shot with a plasma weapon and not dieing of the impact but of all things heat stroke
I would like you to cover the plasma rifle next to compare the two, cuz i like the original design. Also this newer one doesnt have much of a place in the sandbox cuz of other weapons thst do that better already.

Way to fix this weapon. Stick a blade on the butt, turn it red and call it the Brute Saw.

Of all of Halo's Plasma based assault weaponry, the repeater has to be my least favorite. Its just so inaccurate compared to the others. Worse than the Storm Rifle, Pulse Carbine and even the Plasma Rifle variants. Which is a shame cause Ive always thought that it looked cool af.
