Ray Comfort's Encounter With Demon-Possessed Woman: 'In the Middle of a Horror Movie'

- "The demons in her screamed like you wouldn't believe." That's how evangelist Ray Comfort described a shocking encounter he once had in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a young woman who he believes was fighting the demonic. "I'm right in the middle of a horror movie that I couldn't believe was happening," he said of the experience.
Comfort told CBN Digital the entire ordeal surrounded a young woman named Jane who was experiencing blackouts and other spiritual issues. The evangelist said she came to his office for help one day - and chaos broke out. "Her friend ran out crying and screaming out that Jane was manifesting," Comfort said. "She'd gone into a blackout state, and she was crawling on her hands and knees ... I went in and began talking with Jane and praying - exercising prayer - and telling her that she needed to get right with God."
The evangelist noticed "trinkets" Jane was wearing and described them as "demonic-looking." One looked like a little fairy, so comfort told her to ditch these items and to become a Christian. While the situation tempered that day, it was hardly the end of their encounters. "Two weeks later, I received a phone call from a friend [who] said, 'Jane is having blackouts again. Can we come and see you?" Comfort recalled. "And it turned out she hadn't become a Christian and she hadn't gotten rid of that trinket."
While he waited in his office, Jane's friend screamed to him that Jane had once again blacked out on the stairs. Comfort went to investigate and found her leaning against the wall in a "blackout state." "I went to take hold of her and put my hand on her arm, and she ran ahead of me," he said. "And I'm not exaggerating here: she threw herself over a 15 or 20 foot drop." But Comfort said he ran after her and grabbed on as he screamed for her friends to help stop her from fully going over the ledge. Once she was safe, they carried her back to his office as she descended back into her blackout state - but that didn't last for long.
"[She was] sitting down in my office, manifesting all these different weird demons," he said. "And, at one point, the dexterity was quite amazing. With one hand she reached into a blouse and pulled out a safety pin ... and tried to swallow it." Years ago we were youth leaders in our church. We live in a small town so we'd usually only have maybe 10 people at the most come to our house for Halloween. One year we went to the Christian bookstore and got gospels of John to give out to those that would come to our door. In the front of it I wrote " to someone whom Jesus loves from someone who loves Jesus. Our prayer is that you find Him in these pages. " We prayed over them asking God to let us see where at least one of them went. About 4 months later a visitor came to our youth group meeting with one of our kids, and when she walked in she pointed at me and said, "you're the lady that gave me this!" and she showed me her gospel of John. God is so faithful!!!!

This might help someone. When I was in third grade or so, I was having dreams that I was abducted by aliens in my sleep. It involved night terrors and I was going through walls in these dreams to the "aliens." My teacher told me to pray to Jesus about these experiences going away. They did. They went away forever.

@RS54321 Back when my parents were in school, teachers could definitely lose their job over this. It's been going on for a while. My dad told me about one of his favorite teachers from when he was a kid. She would start every morning with a prayer and would read her Bible in class sometimes. One of the kids threatened to tell the principal about it. And she calmly said, "You wouldn't do that," and the kids replied, " Well, I guess not." And she continued on like that for the rest of the school year.

He leaves all the time for hours at a time . My granddaughter followed him and saw him go into a garage at a house. The door closed behind him.

I just left my partner for similar reasons. Really bizarre behavior. Increased aggression. He would leave for hours. Constantly muttering to himself. He had a traumatic upbringing. Anger and issues with his family. He just got saved recently, but is now under spiritual attack.

Well most horror movies just aren’t that good anyway. But you can’t let go of the classics, especially this time of year!! The first few Halloweens, and Friday The 13ths are just too good to ignore. The first Paranormal Activity was great. Exorcism of Emily Rose was a great one. There’s not a ton of them, but at least watch some of the gems!!

can you elaborate on that please?! No judgment to you, I have concerns on the way he preaches the commandments like that would mean the difference between going to heaven or hell. Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross which overcame all that. I believe we should preach more on being born again. I have experienced what I’ve come to realise as “Astral Projection”, being thrown around the bedroom (not bodily), spirits pressing down on me/in me, dark demonic shadows discussing how to take possession of me (I think this last one was after I was saved). In every experience I called out to Jesus to save me, and it would end/I’d wake up. If I began to feel a vibration (as if about to leave my body) I’d tell myself to stay/wake myself up. These experiences have only really stopped since being saved, and also getting rid of crystals (I only thought they worked through some kind of electrical field, not spiritual, and I didn’t even think they worked after trying them, but even so…). I believe that calling out to Jesus delivered me in those experiences, but I still needed to place my faith in Jesus 100% to be saved completely. I also think we need to command the spirits to leave in the name of Jesus, not just call out to Jesus to save us. We can be dabbling in New Age/Occult without even realising it, even as Christians. Even yoga is Hindu, and sorry but there is no such thing as Christian Yoga. You can do exercises and stretches without doing yoga. I also just threw out all our Harry Potter books and DVDs. I hate horror movies too! Just get rid of anything that is in the least bit occult/demonic. Fill your life with Jesus 🙏

Occult means hidden. Just because some information is hidden from the masses or occulted does not make it demonic. Being demonic makes something demonic. There are many traditions,symbols and beliefs throughout the church and forms of prayer that are absolutely of satanic origin. And there are things that have been occulted by satanic people and forces that are of the Divine and not of darkness. Simply hidden from Christians so it will not be a tool or useful to the Christian. My people suffer out of ignorance.

Demonic Possession is more common than we know. Even the people who are possessed don't even realize it. It usually doesn't manifest until God or Christian beliefs are brought up then that person's demeanor completely changes to anger and hostility. They eyes and face can actually change to a certain degree. Had a guy come completely unglued with me as soon as I mentioned Jesus in our conversation. The guy became extremely agitated and was almost convulsing in his seat. You could see the fear, hatred and anger on his face, eyes and body movement. People who were in the conversation tried to get him to calm down and he finally did but it took a little bit. After he valmed down he went into like a trance staring at me. I leaned towards him and said "I know what you are and who you serve!" He jumped up and left without saying anything. As he walked out of the door he turned and looked at me and you could see hell burning in his eyes, literally. Everyone just kind of looked at each other in confusion. Me and my friend looked at each other in agreement of what happened. Possession is in our government look at Hillary Clinton, AOC, Gavin Newsome and many others.

I absolutely agree about the total surrender!! I have seen that first hand with a lady that came to our church. She was possessed for about two years and she would come to the altar for prayer and nothing would happen. But one day, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that God’s judgment was on her. He led me to pray for her and she repented and renounced the occult practices and the next week she came back to church she was totaled delivered!!!

I have so many stories from medical missions of men and women who inhumanly freak out after even a simple prayer, wake up, and can’t remember what happened. Then they’re happy to receive the gospel and are so thankful afterward - such a countenance change as most come into my Christian medical clinic extremely depressed, in terrible pain, or are generally closed off.

I would just like to add an example of a very dear friend of our family who is with the Lord now.
He was a very simple man and was therefore abused in his youth, in particular in him becoming involved
in the homosexual community.
When he got saved in the early 60's, he was crawling around on all fours barking like a dog.
He believes he was delivered from a spirit of homosexuality.
He went on to be an evangelist and that is all he ever did.
He worked as a Cleaner in a School during the week, term-time and travelled the world in all of his week-ends and holidays.
God always provided the money for his travels.
He invariably stayed with Christian families, hence our getting to know him.
Our children adored him.
Interestingly, he was pretty much illiterate when he got saved, but nevertheless bought a KJV Bible.
It was through reading and studying and meditating on that, that he miraculously learned to read!
His two favourite topics to preach on were the New Heart and Knowing Him (Jesus). :-)

I remember a story told by the pastor of my church, where the same thing happened to this other guy. Him and his wife (also a pastor) were praying through the house of someone else who'd asked them to bless it, and the husband of the woman who owned it came in. Dropped to all fours and scuttled out of the room barking like a dog.
I think after they prayed for him he became a Christian, but the dude was sure freaked out by it. I remember our pastor -- pretty funny guy -- just recounting the story with this glint in his eye, all "Aha! An opportunity for deliverance!". I think about that sometimes, because it's scary y'know. Possession and stuff is a scary topic -- people under possession don't do things of their own will, and I don't know about you, but the thought of that is terrifying. But... you know, the demonic may be crazy, weird, and pretty darn horrifying, but Jesus can wipe it away with a wave of his hand. Why should we be afraid? The one on our side hasn't ever lost, and he never will. He's got us, no matter how freaky things can get.
...How did that turn into a sermon? XD Oh well. Love Jesus, love people ❤ And remember, don't do drugs, drink blood, or take in stray, creepy trinkets ✌

What enlightening advice about the springboards. I live in UK and stopped celebrating Christmas years ago as I stopped seeing it as in respect to Jesus but seeing it for capitalism and the fairy tale of Father Christmas. I was saved in 1974 and being an evangelist at heart have ALWAYS felt Halloween is a great time to share Jesus! Every Oct 31st my house is decked out beautifully and we give out church invites, tricks(this year it was toothbrushes)and treats! We had 140 kids at our door! We just love EVERY ONE! Some years I've given out christian coloring sheets with scriptures. Our house is always a hit for the kids !! It costs money but if I can put hope in one kid it's worth it!

I appreciated so much this interview because I had experiences with people who were oppressed or even possessed. But I was surprised that Ray never mentioned or used, not only to rebuke but to authorise the demons in the name of Jesus to get out of the person. Instead of speaking to Jane, he could have asked the demon’s name and call them out by the help of the Holy Spirit. And when the person who is possessed has been freed she can better repent of her sins after being freed. I remember the pastor Derick Prince succeeding in getting out the demons out of the person, by instead of speaking to the person, speaking to the demons directly which made them flee.

Amen! I didn’t agree with Ray not taking authority or at least sharing that as Believers we have the authority to cast down strongholds and demonic attacks. I absolutely love Derrick Prince and his ministry. I still go to his sermons for truth and solid teachings. 🙌🏻🔥

Thank you, Ray, for using Halloween as a chance to evangelize! I have been telling kids through tracks, gifts and candy for about 35 years now that Jesus loves the,! Some have told me that I need to stop “participating “ in Halloween. I call it throwing it back into the devil’s face.
Ray Comfort has been such an incredible source of understanding for me in my journey of sanctification. The Holy Spirit speaks through him in powerful ways because of his two step approach. 1) Speaking with humility and love 2) Always backing up anything he says as truth from the word of God.

Something that helped me as well as true repentance, was renouncing the sins of my ancestors, & breaking generational curses in Jesus name. God Bless everyone who lays eyes on this comment🙏
You aren't responsible for the sins of your ancestors. You are only responsible for your own sins - and once you've accepted Christ and are filled with the Holy Spirit, your sins are covered by His blood once and for all. "In Jesus name" is not a magical phrase, nor do we control God by invoking Him or Jesus. Yes, there is power in God, but we are to humbly ask Him for help when we are oppressed. Fortunately, Christians cannot be actually possessed by demons, as we are Christ's and our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. The key to the Christian life is to repent regularly of our sins (because we are humans and humans sin) and stay in the Bible and prayer every single day. As well as sharing the Gospel.

Brother Ray, I pray I get to meet you some day. If not here on earth definitely in heaven. You have truly been an inspiration to me on evangelism. I love the Lord, I love people and I love sharing the good news. I was actually praying for one of my employees one time out in a parking lot. As I was praying I spoke some scripture into the prayer and she started to get sick and actually started to puke. She said she had to go and she ran to her car and took off. I didn’t realize what happened until a few days later what was really going on.

His method of sharing the gospel really works, and after training with them in 2007, I use it all the time. But in 2017 after having my first rapture dream, the Lord got me started on including the urgency of repenting and being ready to meet Jesus either as Judge if you die (Hebrews 9:27) or Bridegroom if you are alive at the time of the rapture. It's sad that so few Christians are talking about the pre-Tribulation rapture and seeing all the signs of His coming. Most churches are spiritually dead and they got corrupted on sound doctrine on the permanence of marriage, sexuality and divorce and remarriage long ago with Erasmus and Martin Luther. I am going to keep shouting from the rooftops what the Lord whispers to me in the night. Maranatha.

God use living water ministry to my convertion, a friend shared the channel with me I watch several videos of them and finally I repent and put my faith in Christ after few months I had the conviction that I born again, praise the lord dor Ray and his ministry

I love how Ray has such a heart to love people and serve God! I agree with his sharing of the Scripture as such. I am not sure if others were around him in that room or in the surrounding area. If Ray was alone with a demonic woman, it was very dangerous. Temptation can come to him such as taking off her clothes. It happened to a Christian couple that the woman drug addict took off her clothes and was naked. Good that her husband was not home! Deliverance ministry or exorcism has to be a group effort among the ministers and intercessors due to the power of team work. God bless! Love you all!

I dont go to a church often. But have church everyday in my house. When people want to be baptised I ask my sons to help me . On the streets it is the best to take someone to preach the gospel and to pray along with you. 🩵

Ray Comfort can summarize great detailed concepts of scripture in the most efficient eloquent way I so appreciate. He actually brings a mark of comfort. Thank you for this excellent interview. In his wisdom, that only comes from age and experience & a long transparent walk with Jesus Christ. What I'm seeing, sadly, is a fervor being misused by the folly of youth & immaturity. Even by they who were very young believers and yet still young in years. Lacking wisdom. An apprenticeship to a teacher to a master takes so much longer than is commonly understood. Not to detract but to caution follow up that house swept clean isn't filled by a return of former unwelcome guests + 7 of his worst friends he can find.

Deliverance has been an integral part of church life and ministry all my Christian experience of 50 years. How could it not be. Jesus‘ ministry was three fold: Salvation to the Spirit. Deliverance to the Soul and healing for the body !
