#HOUSEPLANTS #HOYA #JACLYNNSJUNGLE
I feel so validated in my feelings for the Lisa. That girl is drama all the time. ⛅️☁️🌧️
I really enjoyed this style. Alternatives for the challenging ones. It also helps me learn a bunch of new Hoya!
I have a krohniana black that gave me so many problems. However, just when i was about to toss it, it decided to become a happy plant and is beautiful now!🎉
Thank you for this! I definitely just added all the silvery hoyas to my wish list 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I actually feel the same about all the hoyas you described! They just don't work for me, but thanks for the alternatives! ☁️☁️☁️☁️
My macrophylla has been a rollercoaster. When I bought it I kept it outside for a couple weeks because the weather was nice, and it grew! Brought it inside - stopped growing for months. Moved it into semi hydro. Roots died. Regrew the roots in water and put in Pon again - Roots died. Now, I have it in just water again and am thinking I might have to just keep totally hydro: it's grown a huge root ball, a runner and multiple leaves, just in water.
Agree 100 percent about the Australis Lisa. Couldn’t get it to grow, couldn’t get it to sun stress. Just a total dud for me
☁️🌥⛅️🌤🌩 well just dang!! I'm new to Hoya, under a year, and have ALL FIVE!! I'm limited to selection locally and too nervous to ship. Thanks for giving alternatives IF eventially mine all go south!! My Black margin and Albomarginata both finally have gaven me a new leaf, and I attribute that to Super Elixer!! Thanks ❤
I hope I don’t jinx myself, but my Hoya Australis Lisa and Latifolia Macrophylla are doing fine! The Macrophylla is a little wild and outgrowing the small bathroom window where it is hanging. Most of my Hoya seem to love being outside in a semi-shady spot, so maybe they enjoy the NW Florida climate. The only one I struggle with is the variegated Hoya rope. I can’t get the watering right. It looks dry or mushy and doesn’t grow. Maybe I should just stick it outside, too! 🌥️⛈️
So funny- all the ones you say you can’t grow except the New Guinea Ghost (which I don’t have) are doing great for me and I would list them as my favorites!! There are some plants though that I also just can’t grow either! Thanks for your channel- love your content!
I have the black margin. It’s doing well for me.
I love Hoya yay my heart is full💖Hoya C.Nova Ghost my favorite🥰I am hoping it will grow in my care😊thanks for sharing your knowledge⛅️⛅️⛅️
So glad I'm not the only one struggling with new guinea ghost!
☁️ loved the video, though I have to say that I love my Hoya macrophila and Australis Lisa.
OMG, krohniana silver, tell me about it. Last time my husband and I went to Des Moines before he died, we bought a krohniana silver and a curtisii. The curtisii was supposed to be the difficult plant. Hung it in a south window and it's been killing it. Just slaying. But the krohniana..... it had root rot and instantly the leaves turned into withered floppy bendy paper. I tried to wait it out, to give the roots time to re-establish, but after 4 months I repotted it in my own soil mix. The leaves have finally become firm and I think the plant is going to make it, but for crying out loud. What a diva.
Try selfwatering pots
Do you think it could be that the plant maybe had bad roots when you bought it? My krohniana super silver is doing well since I got it back in April. The curtisii has yellowing young leaves. I've put it directly in front of my sansi lights and a lot of humidity and now it's doing better.
Bummer I just bought the H Macrophylla albomarginata & the H Kroniana eskimo. Yes, please do lots more videos like this one. Loved the concept & the content. Love your vibes! 😊
Happy to see I’m not alone with the Khroniana Silver thoughts!! ☁️☁️☁️
Wow, I have a Australus Lisa and I love her so much, she sits in a west window, in a Clay pot, I'm having problems wit my Krohniana black🎉
Love that beautiful anthurium in the background❤❤❤
I have had my krohniana silver for about a year and a half and she's still thriving! I don't know how I lucked out finding one that was already so established and large (In a 6 inch hanging pot with 2-3 feet of growth hanging down). She's constantly throwing out blooms and I do feel like I need to water her more than my other hoya but she seems happy. Even her cuttings that I give away are still going strong! So maybe the trick is getting one that is already a beast and well established?
My macrophylla also grows great for me and I don't treat her any different from the other hoya. I got her with only 2 or 3 leaves and now she's covered in growth and tendrils and seems to be always producing a new leaf or two when I check on her. Maybe my conditions are just prime for the more difficult hoya or I'm just lucky and get the good specimens 🤷♀
I’ve tried and failed on the first four you talked about! So nice to know I’m not alone!
Loved this video ☁️
I really enjoyed this video.
The NGG, from what my plant peeps have told me, is a very thirsty plant and generally does best in semi-hydro. Mine died so I can’t confirm, but that seems to be the consensus with all my local hoya heads.
When I moved mine to pon, it took off like crazy.. Need to put it on a trellis now - great suggestion for this one
Loved this video.
Thanks for the recommendations! ⛅
Happy to help! 😊
Hi Jaclynn, oh gosh I really love so many Hoya. I had a Hoya australis lisa and it started so beautiful then died on me and I still might want to get another one, I am still dealing with those stupid mealy bugs, they are dieing finally and my Hoya are coming back. I think I will look for those Hoya you were telling us about that are good ones to get. You showed some really beautiful Hoya. Thanks so much again for another wonderful video, have a blessed and beautiful day sending love and hugs, bye!! 💜💜💜
I’m kept waiting for more
I had the hoya latifolia (macrophylla) but lost it during a move, it was ok it grew, I think I purchased it because of the hype honestly. I also have the dinner plate but it's struggling for some reason (bah) I really like this one.
I have the hoya curtisii and it's thriving (stinky flowers though) so never felt the need for the khroniana hahaha
Another lost due to the move, the parasitica black margin, it was hearty and forgiving when it got mealybugs and I sprayed it with alcohol something fierce. This plant and I had a bond which I took for granted... may have to purchase that one again.
Finally, the NGG after repotting in pon, she has taken off like crazy. Beforehand, ah a leave here (smaller than the rest), nothing, then another small leave (end up losing it) and so on. I did get the hoya wilber graves china just in case and they both are doing quite well.
☁☁⛈🌥🌪🌪🌪giving clouds based on my experience with some of these hahahahaha - Thanks Jaclynn!!
I feel the same way about the australis lisa I've tried so many times trying to grow that plant. I had all sizes of that plant and they all died😅 I even had a full beautiful full basket and that died so bad. I was sooo sad because it was a gorgeous plant. I thought I was doing something wrong and it had drove me crazy. ☁☁☁☁☁☁☁☁
Try selfwatering for krohniana silver. She grows so good in my care. She is huge
Ahh yes, I have the same experience with Krohniana silver! 😭 I have killed several of them, and it makes me so sad, because they are so gorgeous!
I have found a compromise, with the lacunosa leopard skin! Such an easy going plant, and it's very silvery! 😍
Loved this video, thanks for the insight. Got a krohniana silver at homedepot early June and it's on the struggle bus. 😢 dropping it's leaves and I don't know if it will last. Just picked up the krohniana black this week and keeping my fingers crossed.
I'm not a fan of the Krohniana silver either.. but I do like the black margin.
Wow, you hit the nail(s) on the head. My Krohniana black and splash are doing well. NOT my Kroh. Eskimo!! Think it's done for! Also my Hoya Rosita has struggled for months! Was thinking of buying a larger one. My Wayettii is doing well and I love it's variegation! I seem to have more issues with all the smaller, thinner leafed Hoyas. Guess I'm learning the hard way! Trial and error! My main exception is my Hoya macrophylla albo-marginata. It has been awesome and Ive had it about a year. 🤞🤞 Thanks for the tips on "instead ofs!". I recently got the Hoya Grey Ghost two- leaf rooted starter plant. Hope it makes it. I have Weimaraner dogs and they are known as Grey Ghosts!! 😂❤❤❤❤
Love all the Hoyas. Having trouble with cv elephant. So far 2 died. I should be getting a new one this week. Cloud ⛅️
More anthurium videos PLEASE
That's so weird, my Macrophylla Varigatta is growing like crazy for me and blooms all the time. Bought it from Marketplace with 3 leaves 🧡🌿
Mine used to do well for a while, then decline. Do well, then decline again. It was always a rocky road for us lol
@@jaclynns.jungleI have mine in a 3.5 inch terracotta pot. My only hoya in that. I don't know if that makes a difference
I hear you on the H.Australis Lisa.I gave up on her.Tried 3 times. On the other hand i have the khroniana silver and its doing good. And the Macrophilla have it for 4 yrs and only 1 leaf have given me😢
I have the SAME MUSHROOM POT!! HOME SENSE!! LOL .... I also commented a while back that I have the framed beetle print! So funny .... same exact taste ..... lol .... right now I've been sculpting some mushroom wall art and plant pots. I'm so picky with pottery for my plants that I decided to purchase the gray toned terracotta pots and sculpt designs with mushrooms, insects, moss etc. on them! Once I'm finished I would love to send you one!
Okay, so we might be the same person. David just bought me supplies yesterday to start painting mushrooms and insects onto terracotta pots! What are you using to sculpt?! Are you on Instagram?
@@jaclynns.jungle I'm using sculpey clay with clay adhesive to sculpt the mushrooms and moths etc. Or air dry clay with a good craft glue. Air dry is a little easier since there's no baking involved. Depends on your crafting style. I like both types for different reasons. With the backable scupley.... Since terracotta can take heat I sculpt on the pot and bake it at 275 for 20 minutes. I haven't painted on pots yet, but I want to! I don't have an instagram yet, but I'm going to make one when I have the pots finished. . I work in sections because the terracotta absorbs the glue. So I make the mushrooms, bake them alone, and then I attach them with some fresh clay and the sculpy adhesive, then bake that ... I continue those steps till I feel the pot is complete. You can also just buy cute clay molds for faster turnover. I'll use the clay mold of choice, and place the clay piece on the pot .... place the pot sideways in the oven so the design takes on the curve of the pot .... then when it's done I use super glue to attach it. All kinds of options! Just takes experimenting!
The macrophylla was slow for me but it started to grow in the spring. One of the first hoyas that started in the spring for me. Had to be the super growth elixir. I lost an entire hanging basket of the khronia super silver 😢 Knock on wood but my khroniana black is thriving and I have a cutting of khroniana Eskimo and splash is going strong 😬 So far so good on the Australia Lisa 🤞yes! I will never buy a NGG again.
I have a thing for Wilbur graves 😂🤦☁️🌨️
My Lisa loves the PON lifestyle 😁
I have had trouble with the khronian too but just literally bought a super silver today last chance 🤣
Macrophylla only ever did well for me in direct sun on my porch
I hate the macrophlis Albo too. Plan green one I LOVE.
All of the ones you struggled with are doing well for me. 😭 I find my Lisa is a little more thirsty Ike my Curtisii.
My super silver kroniana was doing great until my move. Got too dried out and never recovered. And it bloomed for me too so that made me sad. The Calistaphila 2x 💀, S8gillatis 💀, my Lisa had been stagnant but now new growth...lost my Princess, my Queen lost half, Compacta pretty stagnant but gave her a repot as a hail Mary
I was born in New Guinea but the ghost ghosts me too!!
I feel like the hoya macrophylla albomarginata you have to buy big and established, because my one I bought wasn't established and I really struggle with it. I thought about just buying a big beautiful plant and starting over 😂.
Totally off topic and as a very happy curly girl, your hair looks great today. ❤
Loving your content.
Thanks love!! I'm a wavy girl, trying to get my shape back, but I was lazy so I blew it out, haha!!
🤙HOYAS RULE! Thanks for the informative videos. ☁️☁️☁️
Bahaha also with the Hoya "Karen". I do fine with the non variegated, but the Lisa just dies every single time 🤦🏼♀️
she just melts away every time -__-
@@jaclynns.jungle I just don't understand why!?
☁️☁️☁️ so far all the ones your mentioned that I do have I am not having issues, but of course that could change at any moment 😂❤🌸
I have trouble with the curtisii and the Australis. They just melt. I have no idea why we don't get along. I may try again because I'm a glutton for punishment 😊
Yes yes yes - H. Khroniana silver just melts away for me for no apparent reason. I have what is left of a super lush 6 inch pot and it bloomed! I think it bloomed because she prob thinks she is on her way out!!🤣. H. Latifolia Macrophylla also - I cannot keep alive and I don’t even bother anymore. I have other Latifolias which are doing fine so I don’t know why the macrophylla doesn’t like me 🤷🏻♀️. I’ve never had the NGG🫠
☁️🌥 So...the kroniana silver is annoying but I haven't given up yet...lol. As far as a replacement for the black margin...I have a hoya fusco marginata that is really similar in looks and it gets the black margins too but it is harder to find.
I agree with you. I've had 2 latifolia pot of gold, and both died. I have latifolia albo- marginata, and it's struggling. I'm not sure why it's struggling, but I refuse to purchase anymore. I'm done also.😅
I'm so over it lol I had pot of gold too and it just never grew nicely for me
I have a question for you. My krimson queen that only gives me white leaves last year I cut it back to after the last green leaf. The next six leaves came in white. T
Love your content all the time! I just wanted to mention I have a macrophylla rooted cutting living in water and I also have an australis Lisa and I think just a green australis living in water too! Both of those were not rooted at all and now they have a bunch! All three are thriving with new growth and I'm super excited about that. ❤⛅🌤️😍
My new guinea ghost grows like a weed. Just propergated it. Very thirsty plant and loves light. Very interesting video. Any tips for a sulawesi? the new leaves are thin and crinkled. Not like the original leaf which is a dinner plate type.☁😶🌫🌨🌩⛅
The Macrophylla has been one of my easiest to grow ever. It grows like weeds. I have several and they are huge. They all started off as baby plants with very little foliage.
I wish I had some tips for you but I don’t do much but monitor for pest and water when dry. And I fertilize when I water. I keep the largest one in a window with bright light. It’s HUGE.
I’m sorry you struggle with that one. 🥴
I'm glad that you enjoy growing yours!! 😊
Australis Lisa was my "gateway hoya." I had Compacta and Compacta Variegata, but wasn't looking for any other hoyas when I found a really good sized Lisa at a nursery. That really fueled my interest in hoyas and now I have more than 80. Lisa has thrived EXCEPT she got mealies and they don't want to leave her alone. It's really frustrating. Regarding the others, neither Macrophylla nor Parasitica Black Margin do it for me. Can't really explain why, but I have never liked either one. I have a Krohniana Silver. It's fine. It doesn't struggle, but it doesn't really grow either. I just got New Guinea Ghost a few weeks ago, so we'll see how it goes. I know you said that you don't like any of the Australis varieties, but have you tried Tenuipes? Mine is growing in an East window -- so not totally blasted with light -- and I love it. It has huge leaves and has really done well.
My black margin has 3 peduncles right now, really healthy on my patio. My Macrophylla is taking off, and my lisa needs to be repotted, they are all on my patio in Southern California. My regular Lacunosa is covered in peduncles, my Krohiana silver is growing good🤞💚🍃
I love the Sarawak too. But I killed mine. I couldn’t get it to root. Finally I gave up but I’d love to try again.
Root in water! Super fast and easy for Hoya!
My Macrophylla is thriving and doing well.. My silver Krohanian is struggling and probably going to die…
I like the concept of this video. If you’re having trouble then I’m sure I’ll have trouble.
Glad you liked it!
My Macrophylla have both been taking off. I have the Crassipetiolata splash & she’s pushed out new growth. I got the Silver Dollar as a bonus plant….she was semi rooted with 1 leaf. She’s pushed out 2 leaves & working on more…..she’s stunning & I want her to sunstress!!! 😎😎😎😎🪴🪴🪴🪴
I don't like the shape of the NGG leaves - it reminds me of those plastic ficus trees they sell at places like Michaels. Ha ha! (I worked at Michael's in high school and still have PTSD surrounding it and them.) For silver leafed hoyas, I like the Pubicalyx Pink Silver Ghost.
Not me who just ordered khroniana from palmstreet 🤦🏻♀️
I have two on this list in the mail on their way to me 🙃
I genuinely hope you're one of those people who is good at growing them 🤣
How about Hoyas I promised not to ever grow again but then I did! And how it went.
I for sure have a lot of those now, haha!
The Lisa 😡
The question is do I cut before or after the last feen leaf? Like I said I cut after the last time. I need some help here.
Before! The node where the growth comes from should be from the green portion of the plant
@@jaclynns.jungle Thank you so much. Out come the scissors. ✂️
⛅
Lol Australis Karen! I have lost two Lisas, so I don’t think she likes my home environment.
The first plant is one I JUST added to my collection 😅 8 new hoyas added in one order, Macrophylla Albo is one of them 😅
I'm sure it'll be fine 😅
@@jaclynns.jungle fingers crossed 😂 a couple of new ones were on this list hahah
I'll have to be extra careful watching them just in case 🫣😅
