Apart from Talent one needs a huge amount of Luck to play for Ranji Matches and most importantly your behavior should be humble and needs emotional balance. For example Ambati Rayudu was no 1 Ranji Player in India, even Shikhar Dhawan, Raina admits the same. Inspite of being a Humble guy sometimes he loses his cools ,Selectors will say he can't mingle with the team so let us Select a North Guy.And look at Hamuma Vihari, VVS Laxman both are humble and very much composed in their behavior. Pridhvi Raj Yarra and Bavanaka Sandeep are also a good composed guys , I believe they will soon make a mark in National level tournies like Vijay Hazare and Syed Mustaq Ali
