  • Single leg X to back take. Force the knee reap and wind up on their back. This one is lots of fun and pretty sneaky.

    Can you still do this if bottom partner is adamant on not reaping the knee and just staying/attacking from regular single Leg X ?where there is no reaping

    Hello! I am a 13 year old yellow-white belt girl training in a teenager class with all boys. I don’t have any strength and they are very stronger and heavier than me, so it’s very hard for me to do takedowns, get out of side control, or basically do anything. What can I be able to do when it comes to heavy and stronger opponents?

      Hi! This is Eli’s girlfriend (the small girl in this video); he thought it would maybe be better for me to answer this, than him. Being smaller, and not as strong, will require you to be more technical. You’re going to have to work smarter, not harder. You’re going to have to recognize that you won’t be able to force positions or submissions, like they may be able to. Reading/feeling their energy to get sweeps, takedowns, etc will be important. I totally understand it being frustrated, but keep at it! Technical drilling is your friend :)

      Hi, I follow these videos and really like them. If they’re bigger and stronger then that means your smaller and faster so I’d focus on trying to play the top game. Maybe ankle picks. Arm drags, anything to not take them on completely. If you’re on bottom then you have to make frames to create space. Get your defensive elbow, far side under hook and learn to regain half guard then guard. You dealing with this will make you a great grappler. Just don’t quit!

      @@Isabella-ym5ks you’re welcome. We have a wide variety of people at our school and you could roll with a 110lb girl up to a 350lb guy. So sometimes you’re the bug and sometimes you’re the windshield. Just keep trying and like I said don’t quit!

    Only bad thing I see is you're putting yourself ankle lock.

      This is clearing the knee line before the SLX is established, so there’s no threat of the heel hook or straight foot lock.
