  • WELCOME! To the first episode of Truck Camping California, the first part of our 12 day journey through California, camping in our Go Fast Camper v2 on our Nissan Frontier and Exploring through Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, Wine Country and the Pacific Coast Highway! This first episode of the series is all about Lake Tahoe, this is the first time we’ve ever been here so we were stoked to check it out and we weren’t disappointed! The views of the water were amazing and the tall trees made us miss Home in Alaska.
    The temps were cool in Lake Tahoe, they were unseasonable cold for this time of year (first night it was about 60 F and the second night it dipped into the 30s F).
    Blog post of the entire trip with links to all itinerary items, cost, etc: kadenventures....
    The entire series is now out!

    HAHA "Downward doggin' it". What was the verdict on the bacon cheddar burger they recommended? Very cool light!! Wow! You weren't kidding on the 'scenic' comment. Beautiful!! And this is just Episode 1 - Yay!

    I've been wanting to go up to Tahoe, get out of this Vegas heat a little bit. Aiming for September, hopefully after the busy season but before it gets too cold.

    Saw you put your food box in the bear can. How about the Dometic? Do you feel like that's safe inside your truck in bear country? I used to live in Mammoth Lakes and have had two separate cars get broken into by bears. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Dometic and wondering if it's smell proof!

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jimmy! I felt pretty safe with it in the truck, especially since we were in a campground surrounded by other campers I didnt worry about it. I lived in Alaska all my life and we always kept our coolers (non Dometic) in our vehicles, I've heard of bears breaking into cars for food but between the Dometic's thick/insulated walls and then the walls of truck I don't think it puts off that much of a smell (I wouldnt call the Dometic Smell proof per say but Im not worried about it.) What I always keep in mind too is if a bear did come up to the truck, we'd just sound off the truck alarm (we always know where our keys are in the GFC) and that should scare them away pretty quick.

    Hey great video. Have you had any problems with your locks on your sleeper? They changed them to spring pin..

      @@Kadenventures I'm picking up the camper Memorial day week Sept 8. I see they change from locks to a pop out spring pin but I live in Long beach,Ca and worry about tweekers...

      @@irishnomad9993 congrats on the install date! I’ve seen a few pics of the updated lock but honestly know nothing about them, do these spring pins no longer lock?

    • @irishnomad9993
      @irishnomad9993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kadenventures Ya they said they had to many locks not opening. So they decided to do the spring pin no lock though..

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@irishnomad9993 that’s lame but honestly I don’t really use my tent lock too often it’s pretty hidden most folks don’t really know how to open it and it’s pretty apparent if they did (the tent would just be up lol) just be sure to lock the side panels and the back panel and tailgate, I think if someone tried to do that they’d assume the tent may be locked as well

      Hey Zach! Here ya go: amzn.to/3Q3ciFc
      This thing has been awesome, I've charged it once before this trip and its been working great! One touch on and one touch off, way easier than the blue water jug we normally use.

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Zach, one thing i forgot to mention with this 5 Gal water jug spout, make sure to buy one of these tops so the water spout has something stable to hold onto, I noticed when we had the spout on without this top it leaked on rough roads: amzn.to/3zS8IZt
