Rosie Kang pedophilia is when the "child" doesn't have the sexual majority that is aroung 15-16. So this is not peadophilia here. However it's something illegal because the teacher has an authority. There are many people that fall in love with their teacher and that have healthy relationships.
Basically, at the ending, we find out that the mean girl's step father had been molesting her, and that was a big part of why she was being so mean amd acting up so much. We never find out why the other girl went to the psych ward. But the movie kimd of comes full circle, as the mean girl ends up being issolated after she goes through something bad, just as she had bullied and isolated the main girl. The teacher decides to leave the lead girl alone, because he doesn't want to molest her and cause her harm. Both girls thought they wanted to hook up with the teacher, but really they were lonely and wanted to be loved. But an adult molesting a teenager is not love. Hope this makes sense.

That's a real milestone for her. With any luck, Quinn could possibly go to the Oscars, and if she's really lucky, the Golden Globes. This is not romanticizing a teacher student relationship. Probably one of the best films I've ever seen and the trailer doesn't do it justice. It's about weakness and 'blame.' Loosely based off the crucible and a genius movie. The teacher isn't a pedophile, although he is weak at times. It's about struggle and drama and everything is great and haunting. You need to really watch it, and absorb everything.

Yeah I’ve watched the movie and I really liked it the teacher tried to help and comfort her but they get to close and kiss, I don’t think they end up sleeping together from what I can remember. The teacher develops feelings for her as well but knows it’s wrong thing to do so eventually he leaves. In an odd way I was rooting for them as wrong as it was their relationship it had so much depth and chemistry.😊

You know this movie is actually quite interesting. The trailer just makes it looks like what everyone thinks it is. The relationship of a student and a teacher, in the movie it’s true the teacher has feelings but he actually backs off (some minor spoilers). The ending is also quite a plot twist and sad. But what really makes me sad is that people don’t want to believe this is real, this is in fact real and can happen in real life. Also there ARE SO MANY shows out there and movies that show teacher and student relationships more intense than this.

Yeah it confused me too, but I think Melissa admitted that her dad/step dad was actually sexually abusing her. She goes into the school meeting with the intention of lying about her relationship with her teacher and then I think she changes her mind and instead talks about the real abuse she has faced. They don't really go into it, but the end Melissa's whole character seems to change, she dresses differently and wears no makeup. Which I think shows that she was telling the truth about her father's abuse, as she has lost the confident image she portrayed to protect herself.

Basically, at the ending, we find out that the mean girl's step father had been molesting her, and that was a big part of why she was being so mean amd acting up so much. We never find out why the other girl went to the psych ward. But the movie kimd of comes full circle, as the mean girl ends up being issolated after she goes through something bad, just as she had bullied and isolated the main girl. The teacher decides to leave the lead girl alone, because he doesn't want to molest her and cause her harm. Both girls thought they wanted to hook up with the teacher, but really they were lonely and wanted to be loved. But an adult molesting a teenager is not love. Hope this makes sense.

In some states in the US the age of consent is actually 16 so people who are older than 16 can date people much older than them if they want.

This is not romanticizing a teacher student relationship. Probably one of the best films I've ever seen and the trailer doesn't do it justice. It's about weakness and 'blame.' Loosely based off the crucible and a genius movie. The teacher isn't a pedophile, although he is weak at times. It's about struggle and drama and everything is great and haunting. You need to really watch it, and absorb everything.
Ok so for those who realize that movies are made for entertainment value and not to showcase only the good parts of the world in hopes of making the world a nicer place to live -__-

Rewatching American Beauty makes me (more) uncomfortable now that all that shit bout Kevin Spacey is out.
“American Beauty” never made excuses for the main character’s attraction to that teen girl, and it eventually, brought him to a place of catharsis where he let the romantic fantasies go. Which may be true here too, there’s no way to tell without watching it.

Yeah I’ve watched the movie and I really liked it the teacher tried to help and comfort her but they get to close and kiss, I don’t think they end up sleeping together from what I can remember. The teacher develops feelings for her as well but knows it’s wrong thing to do so eventually he leaves. In an odd way I was rooting for them as wrong as it was their relationship it had so much depth and chemistry.😊

The problem here is yall judge the movie by the trailer, 3 have passed and i saw this come out and did not wanted to watched, today i did, and its great, more so knowing she wrote, directed and acted in this, a crazy little 20 year old Quinn Shephard did this, and i just have mad respect
You know this movie is actually quite interesting. The trailer just makes it looks like what everyone thinks it is. The relationship of a student and a teacher, in the movie it’s true the teacher has feelings but he actually backs off (some minor spoilers). The ending is also quite a plot twist and sad. But what really makes me sad is that people don’t want to believe this is real, this is in fact real and can happen in real life. Also there ARE SO MANY shows out there and movies that show teacher and student relationships more intense than this.
What's all the fuss over? No one made a big deal when this happened in riverdale or pretty little liars. And for people to say this gives kids ideas is bull. Just bc you watch a movie where someone gets killed doesn't mean you're more likely to go on a murder spree

I just watched the movie and the ending had me confused... especially Melissa. Can someone explain?
Yeah it confused me too, but I think Melissa admitted that her dad/step dad was actually sexually abusing her. She goes into the school meeting with the intention of lying about her relationship with her teacher and then I think she changes her mind and instead talks about the real abuse she has faced. They don't really go into it, but the end Melissa's whole character seems to change, she dresses differently and wears no makeup. Which I think shows that she was telling the truth about her father's abuse, as she has lost the confident image she portrayed to protect herself.
