You need a reel capable of holding at least 20lbs mono/300 feet. Most likely a level wind or conventional reel. I put on 15 yards of braid backing to 10+ colors of 18lbs leadcore to 6-15feet long 20lbs flouro leader. As for how to tie leadcore to other lines, there are very good and easy videos out on youtube!
