Being an employee working for a London based company, I have no doubt about all your content. I definitively suggest having this clip as a survival guide for anyone who moves there before it is too late! Thx so much!
Actually I’m all for simplified Chinese so students can spend less time on the characters and more times on other subjects. That’s one of the main reason happened in Japan and Korea respectively, aside from politics and their national pride. According to Google Chinese is the hardest language ( characters) to learn in the world. Things happened for a reason.
10:41 I am an investment banker in HK, now doing MBA in London. I think you made a great point about career opportunities in the UK VS HK. I have been applying to finance-related internships in the UK, but all got rejected. Finance is all about relationship building - its definitely harder for non-British to get promoted in the UK. That said, it is also getting harder in HK since mainland Chinese are more well-positioned to get new businesses and bond with the deep-pocket mainland Chinese clients. HK staff are increasingly being replaced by mainland Chinese. HKers are doomed to live in the periphery, whether they are in HK or overseas.

I grew up in England during the early 80's you must have been the similar era. Yellow people from HK always look up to the west and thinks everything from the west are always more superior. So so sad...

BTW, the reason why falling leave affects train transportation, is because: Leave is part of a plant (i.e. vegretable.) It contains very low level of vegetable oil. When lots of them cover the train track, and the train wheels roll over the pile, the oil is squeezed out. The oil will make the rail more slippy than usual, negatively affecting the safety operation of the entire train. Train operator will need to slow down during the leave-blowing-times.
So true, falling leaves can cause fatal car accidents especially on a wet road, you need to cut down ur driving speed in those condition. ( personal experience, I learned my lesson)
@@billshun3963 Good point. I never thought of that too. Sorry that you had to learn it the hard way. Light oil on top of wet pavement will cause hydroplane. The leaves can be a source of oil.
Strongly agree with the first point. It's quite dangerous for girls to go out in early mornings and evenings (esp. in winter as the shorter daytime). Being stalked is quite common and local ladies usually travel back home from work with using different ways of travel
If you want to become a partner in an accounting firm, you have to bring in business and build up your client base. Being smart and hardworking are secondary to having good business connections. Another consideration is their VAT, which is generally 20%. For Hongkongers who are not used to paying sales tax on their purchases, it may come as a rude shock. Next is the income tax which ranges from 20% to 45% of your net income and again, it is much higher than the rates in HK.
