At min 8:58 Luciano's voice is full of emotions. He sang "dammi la gioia di vivere" (give me the joy to live): at the time he was sick and probably he knew that his life was at the end. We miss Luciano :(

@Ivan I know because he scheduled a world tournament to celebrate his retirement, he had plans to stay with his family, unfortunately, he attended a few concerts, the original plan was 40 music live representation, but he interrupted as find out his illness.

It is an emotional performance. I think it must be the last one Pavarotti and Zucchero singing together. On this day Pavarotti was in pain and felt sick but he did it for his friend Zucchero (it was reported in a documentary or an interview). Zucchero was every year guest at the concert serie "Pavarotti & friends" between 1992 and 2003. So they sang several times together.

Oh this is going to blow you away. If you don't have goosebumps and tears in your eyes, there is something wrong in the world!!! There is another excellent video with Andrea Bocelli accompanying Pavarotti and Zucchero.
So... many don't know it although Pavarotti said this in a couple of interviews.... Zucchero wrote this song recorded a demo a sent it to Big Luciano (that's one of Pavarotti's nicknames abroad) asking him for his feat. Pavarotti after listening to the recording said "you don't need me, you already have an amazing tenor, the guy who sang this". Eventually Pavarotti ended up featuring on Zucchero's album, the young tenor who had recorded Miserere demo version was a totally unknown at the time Andrea Bocelli which I believe feat. for Miserere on Zucchero's live tour that year.

Mad Ang you said Zucchero has "soul" in his voice. His idol was Joe Cocker and his songs have always had a strong soul and blues imprint. Luciano Pavarotti is no longer alive but both were greats in their type of music and are still some of the very few Italian singers known even in America.

I suspect you just found the Catholic prayer "Miserere" Is Latin :) The song bring just this word from latin "Have mercy" but the rest of the lirics is all different, is not offensive about the religion but is another meaning.
