Here's my theory on why they're bald.
It was a normal minecraft day, all the villagers in the first minecraft village had glorious hair. Then a message popped up saying, "ThEFirStMiNeCrAfTeR108 has joined the game." The villagers didn't know what to think. There had only ever been them, the animals, and the monsters, no people. The player, Steve, was glitched so he was bald, and he had never seen head hair. When he came across the village, he was shocked to see the hair on the villagers heads. He soon got scared and thought the villagers were demons sent from the nether. Since he thought this, he didn't think fire would effect them, so he did his plan B. He made shears and shaved all the villagers hair. He also made a potion that would never let them grow hair again and used it on them. Later, after a few more players joined, the glitchy steves where taken out of the game and replaced with the Steve's that we all know and love. Some villagers, filled with envy, became witches and sought to make a potion that would undo the effects of the baldness potion, but, sadly, to no avail.
