The actual flower is the green dots in the middle. The red leaves are just that, leaves. I was surprised when I learned that. The colors of the leaves are determined, somewhat, by the amount of sun they get as well as the breed. Poinsettias are so lovely and you did such a wonderful job. Its a pity that they only come out at Christmas. The balls are so well done! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. I love this community of artists!
Omg love these SO much. I wonder if I could start now and practice if I could get one made for each one of my family members for Christmas! Handmade gifts are always the best!
I’m really excited to try this out. I’m not sure it will go quite so well as I am a complete beginner. I am wondering however, is it safe to put the ornaments in the oven? I believe some glass ones are so thin they may smash or crack? And also if they have a varnish/paint on them, will this not release toxic fumes?
I'm glad you like the project, Dee, it's a favorite of many! Polymer clay bakes at a fairly low temperature, so I don’t think there will be any issues with the glass cracking. Of course, make sure you have glass ornaments and not plastic! I don’t really know about fumes from paint or varnish, no one has mentioned that it’s an issue. But if you are concerned, you should check with the manufacturer. You can also pick up two disposable aluminum roasting pans and bake inside of them, one upside down on top of the other. I use wooden clothespins to clamp them together.
I worked with fimo for a good 7 years now, as a hobby, but this tutorial still taught me so much! The idea is beautiful, the final creation absolutely gorgeous and you give so many useful tips I'll treasure 😍
Very pretty, 😊 the small green to white dots are actually the flowers and the coloured part that everyone calls the flower are actually the leaves 🙃 they come in Red and also creamy white but everyone goes for the red for Christmas. Here in Australia they are this colour during the winter as they are a winter flower and so that we have them for Christmas they are special grown in the nursery to be ready 2-3 weeks before Christmas as of past few years we can also get the creamy white ones as well. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing your ideas and talents with us all🤗
Very pretty, love the pink poinsettia. Little bit of trivia, the yellow spots are really the flower and the rest are called bracts which are the upper leaves of the plant. Beautiful ornament, you make it sound easy enough that I can do it. I am not so sure though, that I could do it. :) Sorry, just saw that someone else also told you the same trivia.
Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress like could I put a lightbulb in an oven with the clay on it to make an ornament? Or can I put it directly on the ornament and then put the ornament with the clay on it into the oven to bake it?
Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress okay!! Thank you so much I’d been trying for forever to find a definite response to that but it was all about oven lights and baking it using a light bulb. Thank you again!!
I’m just learning how to do this . I love your videos ! So amazing plus very easy to understand . Could you suggest a good place to buy the clay in larger cubes. Bigger than the craft stores carry? Thank you for teaching me so much.
Thanks so much for the nice comments, Elisabeth. Lately I've found the best prices on ANY size blocks of polymer clay are at PolyClayPlay polyclayplay.com/polymer-clay/premo-and-sculpey/?aff=4 \ Not all colors come in larger than 2 oz., but many basic colors, like black, white & a few others come in 8 oz or 1 lb, which is not only handy, but really economical.
I know I'm late to this video, but hopefully someone can help me. I want to make ornaments like this, but I can't figure out how to make them stand up while they bake. Any suggestions?
Make a little ball of clay and press the ornament onto it. It will stick so you can work on it and then bake it, but peel right off after baking. You can kind of see it under the ornaments in the cover photo.
That makes sense! :-) That's the great thing about polymer, you can work with it the way you want to. Some people make very precise things and some of us are a bit more organic and free flowing.
Not at all, Hilda. Lots of artists on TH-cam and elsewhere are seeking supporters on Patreon. Patrons supporting the arts have been doing so for centuries, it's nothing new.
Why is this odd? She is basically giving away free tutorials and lessons in clay and asking for donations in response to this. If it wasn’t for people like this kind lady who is sharing some of her knowledge for free then people who can’t always afford lessons or paid tutorials wouldn’t be able to have this experience. I don’t see anything wrong with artists asking for donations. If I could afford it then I would donate but even so I am very appreciative of people like keepsake crafts sharing their work and ideas with everyone. They take their time, effort and money for materials to share this with us... it would be odd for her not to ask for donations of some sort in my opinion!
I really like the flowers and 🎀, great idea about the blades
Thank you, Mary, glad you liked it! Hope you found the video helpful. Happy new year! 🎊

Thank you for the info and the kind words, Leetzanna!
These are so gorgeous! I'm just blown away. I can't wait to try my hand at making these.

That's really smart thinking, Clarissa! I'm always a fan of getting started early, and giving yourself plenty of time to practice. :-) Happy creating!
Prettiest flower tutorial on this channel! Love your videos.
Thank you, Salena! I was really pleased with how this one came out. 😁
Fabulous Sandy 😻😻
Thanks, Joyce! 😊
Love the colors. Wish I could get them here. Beautiful!!!
Your flowers are so pretty!!! Great tip with the blades, very clever - thank you for sharing.
You are welcome, hope you found it helpful!
And now I know what I'm making my mother for Christmas. Thanks, Sandy!!
Oh, how nice! I'm sure she'll love them. :-)

Very interesting, Angela! Thanks for the info. :-)
Keepsake Crafts - Sandy Huntress your welcome I love the tree but with all the trees I now have planted I don't have room for one now 😿
These are beautiful!
Thank you! I was rather pleased with how these came out. 😀😊
No words.. Superb 👌 Can we use OTG for baking clay
I'm glad you like it, thanks! But I have no idea what you mean by "OTG for baking clay."
Love the colors you used!!!
Thank you, Monica!
What type of glue do you recommend for adhering the flowers to the ornaments
E6000 if it’s not going to be baked again, Polybonder if it is going back in the oven.
Happy creating, Lacy!
Beautiful poinsettias! Great tutorial....thanks
Thank you, Penny!
Wonderful - thank you.
Glad you like it, Mirla!
What a talent this seems to be a very persis hobby.
Not sure what you mean by "persis" but thank you for the nice complement! :-)
Holy Smokes! So Beautiful!!
Thank you, Laney! Glad you like them. :-)
Thees are so pretty - thanks for sharring
You are welcome, Daniela. Happy creating!
Thank you :-)
Thats beautiful!
Thankyou, Sara!
great work
love them
if i want to make a red flower will i use red-pink or red-white
I'd try both! ... And then see which you like better. :-)

Thank you, Sheryl. Yes, I've heard that the parts we calls the petals really aren't, botanically, anyways. :-) I'm sure you can do it, just dive it!
Gorgeous!
Very pretty Sandy!
Thank you, Abby, I was quite pleased with how they came out.
Instead of gluing them back on later can you use bake and bond to attach them before you bake them?
I’m not sure that that would work. It might, though, if you give it a try let us know your results!
What did u use to attach the flowers after you removed them? E6000?
I used Super Glue, but you could definitely use E6000.
Can you make an ornament by putting polymer clay on a light bulb and then putting that in the oven??
That's a great question! Many clayers give their pieces a curve by baking them on light bulbs. So, yes, that would work fine.
Keepsake Crafts by Sandy Huntress like could I put a lightbulb in an oven with the clay on it to make an ornament? Or can I put it directly on the ornament and then put the ornament with the clay on it into the oven to bake it?

You're awesome, Sandy! Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your knowledge, but most of all thank you for responding!!!
Awwww, thanks for the kind words, Virginia! Happy creating. :-)
I set mine into a mini cupcake pan.
@@sandyphelps1584 Sorry I missed this reply earlier. What a great idea!
What did you used to attached the clay in the ball?
After baking I peeled the flowers up from the ornaments, then used a few tiny dabs of Super Glue to attach them where I wanted them.
It means precise
That makes sense! :-) That's the great thing about polymer, you can work with it the way you want to. Some people make very precise things and some of us are a bit more organic and free flowing.
This gives me a new idea 🤔 .....
I cannot spell, you would have thought Grammarly would have picked that up.
Lol!
This is really odd that you are asking for money for uploading videos!!!!
