Excellent! I've been preaching for 23 years but found this helpful & will recommend it to others. Great to see these men waving the expository preaching flag. SO needed today
Simply awesome! From listening to this video, I found that there are 5 C's to Expositional Preaching: Consecration, Context, Content, Communication, and Christ-centered.
I'd like to thank you brothers for this program, it was of great help. I struggle with Expositional Preaching. I have a commitment to preaching the Word of God with integrity and making sure that Jesus is the focus of every message that I give. The advice that was given was helpful and I thank you.
I feel Pastor Carter on that hooping....I'm glad I came across these brothers speaking on such a serious subject. They most definitely have gained a student out of me.
As we mature and ponder the seriousness of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His completed work, the quieter and more reflective we become. Nothing wrong with the celebration, the joy but to be effective in spreading that message, we have to be sober in our thinking. I'm new to The Front Porch, thank you all for the insight.
@ 4:55 - Middle guy: "[Preaching is not only saying] what the text says but saying what the text means. ...in this gap between these two [distinctions] is where 80% of the bodies are buried! Excellent!
This was so insightful and helpful. This was a blessing for me to be able listen and watch this. If I am correct than much of the preaching Christian TV is not expositional preaching.
Excellent insights! There is such a GREAT NEED for Expositional Preaching within the Latino/Hispanic (Spanish-speaking) churches. Thabiti Anyabwile is a very well-balanced thoughtful teacher. @prmentor (9/16/18 Sunday @ 11:57am)
Very Well done Gentlemen. Topical preaching has it's place, but it is used way to often in churches. I teach my students when it comes to topical preaching, to be honest, you then have to study the context of each of the verses you use. But most never do that.
As it relates to your discussion about whooping, the genre of the text does not necessarily inhibit or make whooping unnecessary. True expositional preaching also points to Jesus and the gospel. Even if one is preaching a psalm centered on lament, it should be organized and executed in light of the hope of the gospel. I resent that sometimes these discussions do not include other types of preachers at the table to offer some push back.
This has confirmed some things for me concerning where I currently attend church. I believe the sermons remain topically & the wrath of God/hell/Revelation is not spoken on. Rather, the congregation is left with a feeling of “Jesus forgives” and positive feeling all the time. How is that going to bring sincere repentance/deliverance? God bless you all
Gentlemen had proper theological training, of course anybody who had theological training even junior degree level can't but agree. Question Psychological preaching vs Eschatological preaching can these two co-exist?
I'm a former catholic after I saw through the lies. My litmus test for anyone who wants to preach to me is if they accept that the Earth is fixed and immovable, like the Bible says 11 times. It also says he stopped the sun and moon for a day for Joshua. I'm not letting anyone lie to me anymore about the Earth spinning 1000mph. If they can't see that truth, then I have no use for them.
The two most detrimental things to the church today are expositional preaching and the social justice movement both ignore the Old Testament and treat the New testament as if it is a new religion it is not
Although this video is 5 years old, listening to the discussion was a breath of fresh air.
I’m so glad I have found you men of God!! Your Biblical knowledge and Love of Jesus and the friendship you 3 men have is awesome!
This was a great discussion and explanation about Expositional preaching! Simple and powerful! Thanks gentlemen. 😎
would be a blessing to find a mentor like these brothers..

Very good dialogue, that’s needed for the new modern church.

"well said, Paul!" You are right - most preachers do not 'expound!'
It's always so refreshing to learn from these brothers.
TC: How much time we got?
L-Squared: You gotta get off my porch.

Brothers. Bless You.
R.C. Sproul will probably always be my favorite at it
R.C. is one of mine too. Also, John MacArthur, Paul Washer, Justin Peters, and my hometown preacher Jayson Godsey.

There is basically none on Christian T.V...a horrible thing.
Expositional preaching is not preaching politics as many black churches are doing
The two most detrimental things to the church today are expositional preaching and the social justice movement both ignore the Old Testament and treat the New testament as if it is a new religion it is not
