I see people are saying that he was ahead of his time but the truth is that America is behind in time. This song will be relevant for a long time; timeless.

As a 64 yr white man I loved this song when it first came out. Sam Stone helped me discover Swamp Dogg and I bought 4 of his albums, great music 50 years ago and still is. His music helped shape my life and for that I will be forever grateful. God Bless him!

I might be 3 years behind you,
now at 64 I'm ready for the streets with these songs!!
Let the people know what they missed.

My dad played all these songs when we lived in the island. He is passed on now and everytime I hear these songs I remember all the nights he would put these records on and sing them while laying in his hammock

I played these sessions as a Trumpeter. Jerry Williams Jr. was a man with a message. Even calloused studio musicians and personnel listened to his lyrics. I was NOT surprised when he entered the ministry!!

I read where this album sold thousands of copies within the few days it was out and it was off the shelf by the next week.he had some very subtle, provoking and witty Lyrics. Mammy's baby daddy's maybe.

Swamp Dogg's been on the scene 50+ years, and I'm first hearing him tonight. With more airplay, he could've change so many hearts and minds. We'd be in a far better place now.

I am sure no matter what era this man sang this song he would have been scrutinized and folks would not have appreciated it even today's youth hear it when grown folks play it and they don't check the technique in it and the older folks who was around for it didn't change either it takes a special breed only to fathom the time to listen and relate

It is indeed strange that many people are now hearing about Swamp Dogg after some fifty years when these songs were first recorded. I think that because of some of the lyrics his music might have been suppressed by the authorities..

SlimHolliday I think the beauty of this song is that it will always be relevant in some way, there's a lot of really great and really shitty thing about America and even as we fix things others will go wrong, but it's okay cause slowly but surely we're getting better
