New Senses Fail wrecks the fuck out of their old shit. This is a genuine case of the golden touch -- No matter what style they're doing, Senses Fail are gods amongst musicians. This album is a testament to their versatility and ability to produce high quality content irrespective of their genre. Easily on par with any band you can name.
I remember being blown away when I looked these guys up after years of not listening to them. I only ever listened to their first album when I was much younger and wasn't really expecting to get musically punched in the face when I clicked on one of their new songs, loved it though.
This album is so heavy and it is so positive! Usually it's the contrast, that dread is an outlet...get it out and positivity will follow. This album punches you with love. It's really unprecedented how uplifting it is and so brutal. He was a man who found love and expressed it epically. I don't agree with him politically, but this man means a lot to me
The title has nothing to do with the song. Buddy talked about this song and said that the title is in reference to the movie Holy Mountain. He watched it in the studio without sound, the twisted things he saw inspired him to name a song after it. It has nothing to do with religion.
The amount of leading tones in this album is astonishingly beautiful. Every song I hear there is one held out for an extended time in the main melody. It's amazing
Buddy has some of the most beautiful lyrics that I have ever seen, and the screaming (blended in with the melodies) displays passion in his attitude toward the lyrics. It is really beautiful music if you follow along with the lyrics.
This is just so fucking good. The more positive message on this record is exactly what I needed to hear today. It's hard to run on just hatred and sadness all the time.
You can always enjoy the intrinsic value and aesthetic pleasure provided by the vocal chords, drums, guitars, atmosphere, etc.. This is music after all, not philosophy class. I listen to Christian bands, atheist bands, satanic bands, Jewish bands, African bands, Latin bands, political bands... If you're a real musician none of that shit matters when you're in the moment and the world fades except for the sounds and their encompassing effect.
Landslide, Safe House, Hold On, Blackout, Hair of the Dog, Four Years, Garden State, and Map the Streets were all amazing songs from their last 2 albums, IMO.
Had they kept perusing this sound, they could’ve opened themselves to a whole new fan base and reached new heights as a band. Such a shame they ended up regressing and then going back to make something that sounded like they’re 16 again.
@mauchosg In Theravada Buddhism one finds the designation of 'noble person' or ariyapuggala (Pali). The Buddha described four grades of such person depending on their level of purity. This purity is measured by which of the ten fetters (samyojana) and klesha have been purified and integrated from the mindstream. These persons are called (in order of increasing sanctity) Sotapanna, Sakadagami, Anagami and Arahant. The latter term designates an enlightened human being and is sometimes rendered into English as the Holy One.
Not necessarily, in the AP Interview with Buddy he said he "believed in some higher power" and is a really big believer of reincarnation(like Hinduism, almost). Yeah, Buddy has always been an outspoken atheist, but I think he's more or less agnostic, now.
I agree with you im a christian and i believe in heaven and jesus but that is not the reason why i try to be kind i do so because i choose to not because im told to.
Why? Because he is a fan of their older stuff, therefore, making him immature. How does that make ANY sense? I like the older Batman movies with Michael Keaton better than the newer Batman movies; does that make me immature? I just do not see the logic in that.
Buddy is 30 years old he's not going to make that emo screamo music anymore. That scene is dead my man. If you like only like the old senses fail then thats fine. You're not imature. If you go around the net complaining that they do not sound like they use to, then that makes you imature.
There is a lot of talk about atheism, Christianity, being agnostic... I'm just here to say I consider myself agnostic, but this is their art, not anybody elses. They can believe what they want, and so can you. I for one don't need the promise of heaven or Jesus or anything to be kind to people, I do it because I want to unless you're a prick. Does it really matter anyway?
what do you mean grow up? Their old stuff is wayyyyy better, more emotion, more feelings. now there rich and have hardly any problems except maybe remembering the past that there not a part of anymore. From the depths of dreams and let it enfold you were fantastic because they were young and emotional. at least they haven't sold out and gone to house music like fucking Bring Me Glow sticks...i mean Horizon.
Senses fail was much better when he was singing about killing himself or burning his house down, isn't that what the youth want to hear nowadays anyway? This album has way too much screaming on it, Screamo is dead to me

Still holds up 10 years later

They should have stuck with this sound imo. Absolute perfection
ohyea!

Senses fail with a breakdown. I never thought I'd see the day.
They had breakdowns before...."all the best cowboys have daddy issues", "battle hymn" "the fire"...
Love this song, along with all of their other 90+ songs. Renacer is probably my favourite album. This is my absolute favourite band.

Our love will burn until the end of time
Live, love, learn
I've always been a fan of Senses Fail, but this album just fucking kills.
Intro is insanely amazing... I shiver every time I hear it!!
I bought this album, it kicks ass!

Trust whats in your heart and keep searching
god this is so fucking good
Love this new album!!!!!
The drums in a lot of this remind me to the intro track to AFI's Sing the Sorrow album.

I agree 100%. Now they're political advocates. We listen to music to escape reality.

we've come a long way since the days of "stephen".
Senses Fail
Love this.
♥neverdie
It's Mastodon - Blood and Thunder.
I was confused when the song started playing. I thought for a second I must have played Blood and Thunder. haha same exact riff.
Well not exactly, but pretty dang close
wow senses fail changed soo much
I kind of agree with this guy.
im dual wielding crucifixes next time i end up in a senses fail pit.
I LOVE YOU! lolol
DUDE THATS SOOOO FKCIN HXC
I agree with you im a christian and i believe in heaven and jesus but that is not the reason why i try to be kind i do so because i choose to not because im told to.
is the part starting at 3:34 original to this song? it sounds nice but out of place, unless i am missing something.
just sounds like a quiet ending bit after all the noise. Some songs do that
dude, they changed styles, thats a good thing, bands need to try new things and expand, so shush

STARWARS||◇》》
I was getting worried about these guys, the last two albums were kind of weak in my opinion. I'm glad they proved me wrong with this one.
but you're the one that asked.........plus, I don't like it, I love it.
yeah an britney spears should go metal
old senses fail >
dude, this isn't even metal, it's hardcore if anything,
It doesn't make me anything. That is your assumption. And that is LITERALLY all it is. Move on.
For some reasons, It sounds like Story of the Year.
no, they don't. not at all, not an inkling and saying such an extreme lie should make you feel stupid
marry me ?
what do you mean grow up?
