Hate to bring Genshin or hoyo into this, but this is one of the reasons why i like Kuro more. They're not afraid of showing love between characters, they tell you straight in the face " yes, this character loves the MC or X character. " without trying to hide or give hints, they just slap it into the main story and make it canon.
But in Genshin and sometimes in HSR too, it almost feels like they're afraid of making characters show these feelings towards us. Even with characters which they heavily hint that they have romantic feelings towards us.
I heard people say that theres no room for romance in the story, and it wouldn't fit the MC, but feeling and showing love is one of the strongest feelings in our being, of a human being. Someone who doesn't show any kind of affection or love at all in a whole story or life, or even attraction towards someone, just feels inhumane.. and it's not realistic. Unless that's what you're going for.
Sometimes i think it's ok to bring a character who isn't afraid to say they're in love with X, instead of hiding everything behind " they're just really good friends "

People interpret things differently for example: Some people confuse being friendly with romance. I only realised that she meant romantic love when I leveled her to 90. It's still strange that Kuro decided to do this because they most likely aren't going to do anything with it due to toxic fans throwing a fit if they did make Rover and Shorekeeper a couple.
I have some faith in wuwa's fanbase, there will be some losers who self insert and think they are in a relationship with these characters. So far I haven't seen anything toxic, compared this to my videos on hoyo games, any ship I mention will have people foaming from their mouths.

If you want to see this story with the male rover, go watch someone else who plays as male Rover. The fact you even need male rover to "draw you into the story" to begin with is weird. The story should do that regardless of who you choose.
As you can see, they have chosen female Rover because they like her design, so get with it or get lost. It's as simple as that. And stop spreading misinformation bro, you choose who you want to be at the beginning of the game. You can't change it afterward and that's not gonna be changed.
