Mercedes has a tradition of building fast, elegant coupes and traditionally it's always launched them with some sort of ground breaking technology. And it's the same story with the S-Class Coupe.

The Mercedes S-Class Coupe is based on the new S-Class saloon and replaces the old CL. If you want one, it'll cost you from around £100,000.
The bodywork is all new with sharp creases and a long bonnet, sloping roof and a neat spoiler integrated into the boot lid. The range topping S63 AMG model has a body kit and forged alloy wheels.
All S-Class Coupe models feature intelligent headlamps, and the daytime running lights and indicator repeaters feature Swarowski crystals to produce a clearer light.
They also get a glass panoramic sunroof which in no way impedes on rear practicality. The sunroof can also be specced with Mercedes' 'Magic Sky' sunroof, which darkens the glass at the touch of a button.
It's clear than Mercedes has gone all out with the interior on the C-Class Coupe, and the cabin is different in terms of layout to the saloon.
The S63 AMG models also benefit from some sporty add ons, but rest assured - every model in the line-up oozes quality.
Like the S-Class saloon, the S-Class Coupe is supremely comfortable thanks to its air suspension, and the Magic Body Control improves this further.
However, the S-Class Coupe features some new ground breaking technology called Curve Tilt Control.
This system uses the car's computer controlled suspension to lean into the corner like a motorbike does in order to boost comfort.
The S-Class Coupe is also supremely quiet, despite being powered by a 5.5-litre biturbo V8 and being able to go from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds.
The S63 AMG Coupe also comes with upgraded suspension, upgraded brakes and an MCT gearbox. The latter isn't the smoothest system in the world, but overall, it handles very well.
It's not an SLS though, but it's not supposed to be. It's been designed to be a very quick, gadget laden cruiser which is the most comfortable of its type on the market - and that's exactly what it is.
I love that these are now around £40k, 100% considering this a replacement for my S5 in a year or two.

Everyone says they hate the rear lights, I don't prefer them either, but when it hits the road and I see it in person I'll still be blown away.

I'm not being patriotic either [I'm UK too..] BUT.. you need to sit in a Bentley, try a Bentley on for size, then drive that Bentley to know what all the fuss is about.
The Bentley gadgets are nowhere near as good as this MB.. the sat-nav on here is the very finest I have ever seen. Magnificent.
I'd still rather have a Bentley Conti' V8 tho'.. they don't make vans or trucks.. just Bentleys..

The only thing that a bentley GT has over this one is the interior quality being little bit better, besides that in technology its not even comparable, looks, dont even mention it. S coupe is miles ahead in all those categories. Value for money? Well when compared to GT its so much more value for money when you only sacrifice tiny bit of interior quality.

A bentley is about prestige, nothing more. The S-Class Coupé is the obvious choice for any well informed and unbias petrolhead :D But feel welcome to disagree with me on that!

Maybach had the superior ''technology'', ''luxury'' and all that fancy stuff but its production has stopped due to financial losses. Because it is not a reasonable alternative to a fucking RR Phantom.

This car is so stunning in person, and in all reality, pictures and videos do not provide proper justice. A man in my town recently pre-ordered an S63 AMG coupe and drove it through town today and it was spectacular. Two days ago, a Lunar Blue S65 AMG Coupe passed through from the local dealer, and completely eclipsed every other vehicle on the road, despite having a Porsche to the rear and a 6 Series to the front.
Would take an S63 AMG Coupe over a DB9.

The build quality better be near perfect for that price.
He has not seen the other 12000 interior trim options, especially the saddle trim with this car and double diamond stitching , which just screams luxury and is more luxurious than the Bentley continental GT. Brabus is a further add on which takes the car's interior and exterior to a next level.

iSOBigD but overall this looks like a mercedes. and yes the interior is nicer than audi's (usually the story) my problem with audi is that their cars don't have the presence that you get when an s63 amg or a 760li pulls up next to you
I agree but the S8 still stands out. Videos don't do it justice, the smooth shapes and big wheels give it a nice presence but I'll agree it looks too similar to an A6.

I'll miss the CL badge on a big Merc but this is so good even if you wrote Polo on it.
I drove one on Saturday at MB Guildford (thank you Guildford). Don't know where our reviewer gets "from £100,000" from £130,000 is the answer. It was a lovely drive - rear-view TV morphs all the camera input to give you a picture as if there was a camera high above the car. Tilt control was impressive.

The only merc's I'v ever really found good looking were the SLS gull-wing and the c63 amg. However, I must say this car looks pretty damn good. oh and the V8!!! Nice job merc.

C63 is one of the ugliest cars ever made...the SLS on the other hand is gorgeous.

your right and i would have said yes for them if they were at least OLED screens !! that way we get full blacks at night not the dump light bleeds of the standard LCD ...

KingStivan Even a now "old" E36 BMW is a neddle moved digitaly, so not even new :p
But still, I like the physical needles there, even if they are digitally controled. When a LCD is displaying the needles, it just screams cost cutting for me... Needles are more elegant when they are properly made.
If a manufacturer uses a LCD screen as dashboard, just put some modern graphics on it instead of mimic needles...

Without a doubt Mercedes and Bentley make the most luxurious and prettiest interiors of any car manufacturer.
Great Car when new.. Once you hit 30,000 miles and the warranty runs out, then the Mechanics love em !!
Complains :
The 360 camera button is beside the parking-sensor-off button. So when you are in tight space, sometimes you end-up worse by pressing the parking sensor off.
The sound when sport button is activated, is a fake sound. If you roll down the window, the sound is actually less louder than you shut the window.
Don't know about the coupe, but for the saloon, your foot can't feel the gas pedal at all. It's like driving a simulator. The throttle response is very very bad, lack of feeling at all.
When the auto steering is activated, it feels like an instructor is holding your steering while you are learning to drive.
The self parking features will hit the curb if the car in front is parking very close to the curb.
The 63 amg will jerk oftenly in low speed traffic jam cruising.
Daaamn this really makes me look forward to the new mercedes C-Class Coupe.

Come on Mercedes, bring the 4Matic option to the UK and Ireland. I've had two rear wheel drive automatic Mercs and they were rubbish in the Winter. Hence why I use my old diesel Audi Allroad instead during that time of year !!!

Finally, Mercedes have managed to design a large coupe based on the S-class that will not look pimpmobile after 10 years, this car will age gracefully, well done Mercedes! Cheers.
Age gracefully? You gotta be kidding. The resale value of these cars will drop like a stone. Who's gonna buy this used in a few years time when the warranty expires? All those 1st generation electronics and, let's get real, German cars have poor reliability ratings especially when compared with Lexus, Acura or even ... Caddy. And the design? Well those big flat TFTs will look real lame pretty soon. There's an 80s vibe about this - ostentatious tech (mostly gimmicks) show off crystal lights that give a superior light quality (puke!!!). It's the kinda car Donald Trump, David Hasselhoff or the guitar player from Poison might drive. Or anyone with a mullet and raybans.

Someone should inform this kid that, Mercedes is far cleverer than he could ever imagine. Re-engineering the four-wheel version to make it right-hand drive has only to do with how many sales they forecast the car will have. If the investment does not make sense, they will not do it.

the interior quality is the best the seats it's so comfort the car is so quite and the steering wheels is so comfort and the car is so fast you feeling like you in other world then you drive in this car you don't care about anything.

I like the tail lights but I understand the argument when people say that "they don't fit the car". Most manufacturers would have at least modeled the lights to a shape similar to the S class sedans... these almost seem like thinner E class tail lights.
I know this may seem pendantic; but, i noticed the entire panel flexed when one button was pressed @ 2:02 . Does anyone else notice it?

Great car. But the rear lights immediately remind me of Acura for some reason.
I am a true BMW lover, but this is something else. I absolutely adore this car. I probably would never have money to drive it, but it is so pretty, sexy and high tech i can just live in it. This is the first car that i see and don't even care about it's performance. Good job Mercedes-Benz.

Beautiful car, will take time to get use to the digital gauges but this one is definitely worth comparing to the Bently which is far more expensive, love the crystal LED. 6 series is a great car but does not come close to this one! Great job merc.

Daniel Banaru The RS 7 is more of a genuine 4 seat car were as the Mercedes S-class is focused on being a two seat car with limited rear.
A Porsche 911 is a dedicated sports car.
If you want a family car then the RS 7 would be the car to choose.
If you want second family car then the Mercedes S-class could be used.
And if you wanted a out right sports car then the 911 is the choice.
