    The FC12 is an amazing thrower. The main thing that sets it apart from most others is it doesn't have a larger head than the body. Whenever i can't decide between two flashlights, i usually wind up buying both. 😅 My TD02 arrives today. It is less than 18 dollars on Amazon right now.

      Oh yeah! If I'm being honest, I probably have five TD02s Right now. I've only modified one of them, but I find that it's hard for me to turn down such a nice light on the price drops so low. Lol

    If you want a small EDC package you always have to choose between flooder or thrower. You can take a throwy LED like the SST40 and do things like a orange peel reflector to get more spill but just spill and its not going to be floody. Me I have been more moved to dual channel lights. Select-able throw or flood, or combined both. Flashlight tech is ever evolving. But I think as to the actual kind and amount of light we have hit a wall. I see companies like Nitecore and CyanSky and even RovyVon concentrating on the mechanicals more now. And that is a good thing. Sorry If I went off on a tangent, just trying to start a conversation.

      I agree that it seems like there aren't really many new features coming out on lights, but more focused on how to best implement these features. I have seen design changes recently (especially with the Wuben X-Series lights). If anyone has been watching for any amount of time, they will see that I am a fan of neutral tints that flood, with the Acebeam E70 Mini being one of my favorites.

    I just ordered this on Amazon for 34% off. I was about to order the Acebeam TAC which also seemed nice, but I liked the fact that this one’s battery is 3x bigger and can be charged without removing the battery.

    I paid $18- for this light on amazon. The battery would be at least $5- anywhere, and a USB-C cable would be $10- at a gas station. That leaves $3- for the light. Someone please explain to me how you could go wrong by buying this light......

    Reverse-clickie tailcap switch. No momentary-on function. Immediately takes it out of the equation of being an actual tactical light.

    I’d prefer an e switch(even though forward clicky is my favorite) because then that would make more room for a deep reflector and institute the sft40. When I think of a tac light I think of high candela over high lumens or wall of light. Even a fresnel lens would work with an sft40 like on my customized sc32. Either way, they’re heading in the right direction and I agree, they have a stunner here that could potentially be a must have for everyone

    Reminscient of wubens c3... in ui fuction. Design wise, i like wurkkos, but the c3 was esthetically pleasing as well, at least to my eyes. Both run tir optics, revrse clicky, and same lumen output if i remember correclty. Good light output, but both fall ahort on the "tactical" with the revrse clicky and lack of direct turbo access. Fc12, while dated, still fuctions better in almost ever aspect. Anyways, thanks for sharing. Ill be ordering one soon im sure.

  • @whcw11

    9:20 I believe this switch type is actually called a reverse clicky. Useless for tactical applications if you ask me. It's a shame, the light is beautiful visually.

    • @torchesandtactical
      @torchesandtactical  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are correct, and I blame my dyslexia for my mistakes. Lol. As far as the actual orientation of the switch, you should check out the video I did where I swapped the switch over to a forward clicky from an FC12. It's definitely gives it a lot of its tactical bones and I also swapped over to a 519A emitter. It's already infinitely better, and I'm trying to work with Wurkkos as far as a UI change. Then, with how beautiful this flashlight is, they would have a real stunner and a workhorse on their hands!

    • @whcw11
      @whcw11 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@torchesandtactical yeah, no worries, I think everyone got the point regardless. Swapping the switch and emitter was a great idea! Personally, I only use dual switch or single mode only flashlights for tactical use (don't want mode changes to get in the way of my momentary on) so it's still a no-go, but hey, that's just me. On the topic of UI changes - do you communicate with Wurkkos often? I'd do anything to get my hands on an FC12 with the old UI. I lost mine and the new UI goes directly against the way I use dual switch lights (I want the tail switch to only turn the light on, leave the rest to the side switch). I figure if more of us were interested in that we may get them to make us a batch.

      A bit disappointed by the led, something like this with utility in mind should be a lot throwier, that would get more real life use

    • @torchesandtactical
      @torchesandtactical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bigrat6030 I understand that completely. I think the choice of the TIR was made because they can kinda split it up between flood and throw and of course because they already had it on the shelf (same as the WK03).

  • @rayoflight62

    The problem with budget torches is that the manufacturers place a lot of emphasis on the the visible features, like fit and finish, the pocket clip, or the tailcap/bezel threads. Because of this approach, the quality of the LED driver is bad as it can get, and together with the lack of digital thermal management, such lights suffers from low conversion efficiency and much reduced reliability.
    Therefore, I prefer pay what is due for efficiency and reliability, knowing that when I'm left in the dark from the circumstances, my flashlight is 100% reliable and efficient. This is not because of some special philosophy, but because three different cheap flashlights failed to turn on - once in an underground cavern, another time in a crowded reception room during a massive blackout, and on a running train with failed illumination under a 3½ miles tunnel. So my lights are all top-brands in tip-top conditions, and the Samsung/Sony batteries replaced once per year.
