Thank you so much! Decided that I wanted to play this song, and found your video.I’ve been playing the mandolin for about 4 years. Never played an instrument before, but I have always loved mandolin music. Decided at age 57 to try. I’m still very much a beginner. You are a very good teacher, and your video is really helpful. I just took a look at your other videos- looking forward to learning the next one.

Ok so I just played that opening and since learning the mando that’s the smoothest little lick I ever did come across. Thanks

Sounds great 👍! Thank you . Lost me half way as I only have a uke 😆 and it’s bed time for me ( here in Torquay , Australia) . I must get a mandolin one day ~ sounds so cool 😎.

Torquay! That’s down under in the down under! I’ll have to do a uke tutorial for this as well. If you stick with the ukulele, by all means, get a mandolin. Glad to have you aboard.

John, fantastic as all of your videos. I started to learn basic Seeger style banjo from you. I recently picked up a Mandolin. Boy, you sure make learning a joy. Suggestion: how about doing a video on the Vince Gill/PPL song Amie. I love that Mandolin Break. Thanks John!

I was looking for a tutorial on Ashokan Farewell and just stumbled across yours on The Weight. Great song, never considered it for mandolin before. Thankyou for this and for being such a good teacher. Looks like you've got a Gibson there, may I ask what model and year? I.m playing a Gibson A as well.

It’s a 1921 Gibson A. I might post Ashokan for the mandolin. I have it on banjo. It’s a beautiful tune.
